Between the Buried and Me/The Dear Hunter 7" Split

  • For those who don't know what this is: The bands collaborated and each covered a song of the other band's.
    "The Tank" is originally by The Dear Hunter while "Rapid Calm" is originally by BTBAM. They just did these two songs and sold them as a 7 inch vinyl split to people who were planning to see them while they were on tour together this past spring. They first pressed 1000 and then decided to do another 1000 after the first run sold out, so there is a limited amount of copies that exist. They also gave out MP3 download codes to the people who bought the vinyl, but they currently don't have plans to release these songs digitally to the public, so that's why I uploaded them here, so everyone could hear them.

    I would like to ask that everyone please refrain from commenting negatively about either of the bands on this video. You're entitled to your opinion but it isn't welcome here. I shared these tracks here because I knew a lot of fans were excited to hear them and couldn't, not because I wanted to hear you say anything rude about the bands. Thank you.

      @beto1580 Před 6 lety +7

      I think both, BTBAM and TDH, could borrow/steal a few things from each other (imo, if BTBAM really wants to become a prog band, they should totally learn a thing or two from Casey and his boys)...

    • @TKettle
      @TKettle Před 5 lety +13

      @@beto1580 I can hear them throwing in a few styles I recognize, especially in Proverbial Bellows, but overall I think they're radically different from every other band, and are constantly changing. IMHO, bands that repeat themselves, or cliche sounds, aren't very progressive. With Plini, Animals as Leaders, Tesseract, or Monuments, I have a pretty solid idea of what I'm going to hear. However every btbam album is like like traveling to a new audio landscape. No idea what to expect. I actually laughed first time Voice of Trespass came on because it was so violently unexpected.

      @matthewbachelor6576 Před 2 lety +5

      Yes! They really got into each other's pocket. You can tell they all love and respect each other's music so for that reason they added their real souls to the rendition so it wouldn't just be a cheap cover. These are the Buddhas of our time.

    I love both of these bands and BTBAM has been my absolute favorite band pretty much since I first heard the Parallax EP. I went into this fully expecting their cover to be the one I preferred, but honestly (While I still love it) The Deer Hunter absolutely stole this for me. I only wish I would have know this EP existed and I had gotten my hands on it back when it ran. Amazing work from both bands!

    Muy buen laburo, me llama la atención como una banda puede ser tan versatil a la hora de realizar sus composiciones musicales. Los escucho hace años y aprendo de cada uno de sus temas porque realmente son gloriosos. Muy buen trabajo BTBAM y saludos desde Argentina!

      I would definitely bite the bullet and listen to all five of the Act albums in order if you can. Doesn't even have to be in one sitting. Migrant and The Color Spectrum are also excellent if you want to take smaller bites, though. Just as Bwanito said, everything they've ever done and will do is brilliant

      Yeah I hold all five acts in almost equal regard, it just takes 3 (and to a lesser extent, 1 and 2) a little longer to steep.
      Color Spectrum is also extremely good. I know I particularly love Black, Yellow and Orange, but there are gems spread throughout all the colors.

      You were at that show too?! Holy hell, BTBAM's mix was TERRIBLE! So disappointing. That was maybe my eleventh time seeing them and it was by far the worst sounding live mix I've heard from them. Nothing against BTBAM, they're my favorite group, but their sound guy must have had an off day that day.

    • @Bonzoso21
      @Bonzoso21 Před 6 lety +1

      Yep! I made that same comment about it being the worst I've heard in the area on The Emerald Theater's facebook post and a bunch of people were agreeing, and they deleted it! When you're into prog, you get used to hearing great live sound, so that was definitely a bummer. Oh well, hopefully playing somewhere else next time...Automata II coming up in July!
