    We use a discharge pump/vacuum set-up...this vacuums the pool and discharges the waste to the street or elsewhere

    This is the most in depth bead blasting video I've been able to find. I read thru the comments and got a lot of useful info too so thanks a lot man. What exactly is the point of sealing it? Is it cuz no matter what you're going to etch the tiles and the sealer does exactly that and seals it and makes it look new again?
    Dude at the pool store said if u don't seal it then it will make the pool super cloudy. Is that true?

    • @michaelk.martin1174
      @michaelk.martin1174 Před 6 lety +1

      we use a silicone based sealer...this is to help bring back come sheen to tile after the blasting process...the tile can look a little dull and beat...the sealer helps with that...the sealer and water looking cloudy are not related...hope this helps

    Thanks for the video. How did you remove the beads from the pool after the job was finished?

  • @hatboy20052000
    @hatboy20052000 Před 8 lety +1

    when sandblasting a pool with water what is the best system to remove the sand from the pool? or would the filter from the pool do it?

    • @michaelk.martin1174
      @michaelk.martin1174 Před 8 lety +3

      +Cesar Martinez if you try to vacuum to the filter its usually too much debris...we use a "garbage vac" or vac to waste system that vacuums the pool debris and discharges it out to the street or elsewhere away from the pool filter...if you look closely in the video you can actually see our vac to waste system in operation... its a 1 HP Tristar pump wired for 110 volt...hope that this helps

  • @codyb565
    @codyb565 Před rokem +1

    I see you vac to waste but what about all the material that hasn’t settled yet? Do you drain the whole pool or let the system filter it out?

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před rokem +1

      It goes to the pool circulation system and then clean the filter later

  • @LAXFSD
    @LAXFSD Před 10 lety

    hey mike, how is your discharge pump powered it looks like a full size pool pump and motor.

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety +1

      It is a 1 HP Hayward Tristar wired for 110v...I cut the end off an extension cord and I can plug it right into a customers wall outlet

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety +1

      pumps 1 HP and under can be wired for 110v brother

    Can you post the model of the bead canister and what other air tools you used. Thanks!

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety

      - 1 cubic foot "Clemco" blast pot...with moisture separator and air pressure regulator
      - 49 HP diesel tow behind air compressor
      - 3/4 in. air hose
      ***a smaller compressor and lower air pressures can be used if the job consists of tile only*** we use a 13 HP compressor for smaller jobs

      UltimatePoolGuy What kind of store do you by blasting media and blasting supplies? You use the bio dex sealer too? How long do you find the sealer works for?

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety +1

      Luke Norris the #8 or #10 glass bead and #30 sand can be purchased from your local Superior Pool Products or SCP if you have one of those around you...this is where I get my stuff from...Bio Dex TPS is a good sealer...there is also one out there called "Tile Restore" that is also good...most sealers will last a season or two and can be reapplied as needed with a sponge

    • @lukepoolservice
      @lukepoolservice Před 10 lety

      UltimatePoolGuy SCP sells the bead blaster too? I see ones on the clemco website, not cheap. Thanks again!

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety

      Luke Norris I got my blast pot directly from Clemco and modified it to suit my needs, installing the moisture separator and pressure regulator...I would recommend contacting Clemco directly if you are interested or have questions...there is also a .5 cubic foot pot that maybe less expensive it also will have half the blast capacity of the 1 cu. ft. ...consider just a few of these blasting jobs will likely pay for your gear investment and its all profit after that

    hey mike what sealer are you using now that the TPS isn't around?

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 5 lety +1

      what's up brother...to be completely honest I was not aware that TPS was off the market...what part of the country do you live?...any major supply house should have something for you...you are looking for a silicone based sealer or similar to achieve the "wet look"...I shop at Superior or SCP Pool Products both are a division of Pool Corp

      check out this video I made yesterday if you haven't already.
      regarding your desires to transition to more repairs and construction I can offer you this...your service route will serve as a field of diamonds to get you your plaster jobs, skimmer installs etc...if you don't know how to do the work yet that's cool...price things accordingly and hire out subs...show up on the job and do the work with them and learn as much as you can...build and train your own crew of guys...this will take you some time but when your machine is built and running it will be a goose laying golden eggs for you!!
      I am humbled to hear my videos serve you well, its great for me to connect with others in this way!!=)

    Hey Mike, What do you charge per sq ft?

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety

      I usually get $550 as a minimum set-up fee...up to 100 linear feet...and I try to get $5.50 per foot after that (includes sealer)...$50 extra for a spa or attached water feature...old school guys are still doing $450 and $4.50 respectively to stay competitive

      UltimatePoolGuy Do you have any videos showing how the discharge pump works or applying the sealer?

    • @UltimatePoolGuy
      @UltimatePoolGuy  Před 10 lety

      Michael Freeman If you can freeze the video right at 2:04 you can see a great shot of the discharge pump working...its a 1 HP Tristar wired for 110v and short stubs of plumbing coming off the front and top...the front dips into the water and the top adapts out to a discharge hose which you see me walking around with ...
      ...the sealer is applied with a sponge that's it, medium coat, no drips and you are good
