    The bass acts as a drone. I don't know who else likes this kind of music, but I'm in heaven.

    I first heard Sharon Shannon about 25 years ago on the radio and thought “She’s brilliant”. I then went to see her live at King Tuts in Glasgow. Ive been following her ever since. Totally unique, love her music.

    I bumped into Sharon and Alan on Saturday morning, 5th October 2019 in a doorway of a cafe (in Stirling) where there was a poster of them. For the previous night's performance at the Tolbooth Theatre. She has a great sense of humour. Fantastic to meet her. Sharon I hope your parents were not too upset when you took him home. You could have done worse!

    We broke at Aughrim but stood at Limerick and redeemed ourselfs fighting in France. The Gods of War have fun with the Catholic Irish. At Ginchy we please the old Morrigan and polished our honour. The old crone granted us a pathetic civil war and took our greatest leader from the backside of county Cork. We are in the EU now so honour matters no longer

    O'Riada inspired by the Siege of Limerick and the Flight of the Wild Geese when 10000 men and 4000 women and children choose exile in France as opposed to living under tyranny and the penal laws.

      I'm sure you mean didn't believe in civil and religious liberty and parliamentary democracy under the Glorious Revolution? There's no proof at all that this song favours the Irish Jacobites or Irish Williamites.

    What a beautiful interpretation of Marbhna Luimní. Fair dues to you Sharon .
    I hesitate to add this....BUT...for some bizarre reason Sharon then did something that has driven me nuts for years, as the notes are gently fading away from a haunting “ slow air “ and the listeners are still in a kind of musical reverie , the player shatters a beautiful mood by immediately charging into a manic jig or reel or whatever at ninety miles an hour . What the hell is that about ? Is it some kind of Irish trad embarrassment for displaying musical sensitivity or what ? Stop it .!

    • @margaretgillespie3738
      @margaretgillespie3738 Před 2 lety

      Two incredible famous contrasting Irish traditional Irish tunes - a beautiful old slow air followed by an incredibly played contrasting Irish reel - a dance tune which we Irish love to listen to and dance to. Keep it going Sharon - none better I say! Margaret Gillespie.
