Mine worked fine. I lubed the gun before shooting and the CCI mini mags in 40 grain, RN ran great.

Failure to feed issues can be remedied to some degree by polishing the rear of the slide that resets the hammer. You may notice some drag as you pull the slide back and slowly let the slide move back into battery. I could actually get my slide to stop as it passed forward on the hammer. Polishing that area on the slide reduced a lot of friction and failures to feed. These little 22lrs seem to be a kit gun. Good luck, don't give up just polish away.

I seen where you replied to one of my comments over on another video about this pistol. Glad the spring kit helped out. Stingers still dont run 100% in mine. But i think that is rim wall thickness on them and the cases being as long as the longest 22lr chambers to allow. There are 3 different 22lr chambers classified by length. I believe the lcp to be of the middle length design making the long case of the stingers not like it, ive heard mixed reports. If you like the extra umph of the stingers but are having trouble with them try the federal punch. They run flawlessly in mine. The cases are just a smidge shorter than the stingers, they are a bit more potent I believe, through hotter powder vs the higher volume of the stingers. Sorry you having trouble with it. You are right we shouldn’t have to go through this to get a new gun to function properly. But it fills a specific need so well it is worth it for those able. Being yours likes the agulia as mine does, im betting yours too will like the federal punch. Hope this helps. Let me know if there any way i can help.

The weird thing is that I've actually heard people say not to shoot Federal Punch in these. When I shot one that's the only ammo we used and it ran perfectly reliable. Can you just rechamber the barrel? I wouldn't think the chamber would matter, because the case it not wider than the bullet on 22lr... so the chamber shouldn't make a difference. You should be able to make a case on a 22lr an inch long and it should chamber just fine, because the case is slightly thinner than the bullet. On paper the bullet and case are .224... but whenever I test ammo with my own calipers, the bullets are slightly larger diameter than the case. (although the case is like 0.002" larger than the minor diameter of rifling and does not mold to rifling as easy as lead does).

I had the same issue from Ruger with my SR22. That thing was terrible and they said it was fine. After 2 years of jacking with it I finally changed out the hammer spring and it finally started shooting. But by then I was ruined on it. Just finally got rid of it. I understand your pain.

Great video, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this handgun. I have this and use CCI 40grn segmented HP. I’ve fired 600 rounds easy with not one issue. 22lr is a fussy ammo. I love this gun and do carry this all the time and trust it

A couple observations: Winchester ammunition is really bad. I purchased and used the same on my LCR and about 1/3 failed to fire. Think this was probably an issue with the ammo, not the gun. @9:02, you're using ammo that is subsonic. According to the manual, "However, sub-sonic or match-grade ammunition may not have sufficient energy to cycle the slide". PP 13 of manual. This is exactly what you are / were experience with the CCI Quiet-22. I use mine for EDC ( pocket). I have found that after about 1,000 rounds.. the gun works perfectly provided use of supersonic ammo. my favorite is the CCI stinger. I was thinking about the Spring kit, but I hate to alter the gun if its working. Thanks for the video and your experience. I hope its working for you now.

I had the same problem. i sent the pistol to Galloway for spring kit. Then i got CCI mini mag. do not use hollow points. also had the same problem with failure to go into battery. the round was being shoved into the top of the barrel. i think a slight deburr of the top of the barrell will fix it.

I also have one of those .380 lcp pistols I put the rubber grip on it and it’s comfortable to shoot now. I also bought the lcp .22 I had issues with it prematurely locking back halfway through the mags I sent it to ruger they mostly fixed the issue. It doesn’t do it nearly as bad as it used to but every so often it will lock back the side usually once or twice on a range session. Sometimes doesn’t lock the slide back. I wonder if any of this spring kits would effect that. I don’t have light primer issues on mine. Winchester makes the worst .22! Their other range ammo has been very good to me Iv heard other people having issues with it but not me it works but not the .22 at all.

We went through the same misery with our lcp...winchester, federal, aguila all had too many issues...we did have better luck with mini-mags and remington thunderbolts (I have heard the remington is a hair of a smidgen more narrow than other brands, that would help feeding/extraction)...the cci quiet is just too slow for this gun...we have finally settled on the 40gr mini-mags if the gun ever carried (near 100% reliability), and use the thunderbolts at the range...we run the gun wet, .22 is dirty, and it gets pretty funky after about 60-70 rounds, but usually (bulk thunderbolts are still bulk, a dud round can happen) will run a 100 rounds with no problems...the gun gets religiously cleaned after every range visit...we don't carry the gun, but I am pretty sure 3 magazines of mini-mags would run okay if ever needed...note: we use the 40gr mini-mags, the 36gr mini-mags won't expand, and have less penetration...

    I recently bought a Ruger LCP2 in 22LR.
I heard that Aguila,CCI mini mags and stingers were the best to use for this gun.
With stingers I got at least two misfeeds with every magazine.
With CCI mini mags I got one misfeed out of every other magazine.
With Aguila..it wouldn't work at all.
I couldnt get off one shot..it would jam every time I pulled the slide back.
I sent it back to ruger..they told me they replaced the slide and two springs.
This didnt make any difference at all..the problem still remaind..this gun is not at all reliable.
Then I bought some boxes of Federal American Eagle 45 grain 22LR.
To my surprise it fired 150 rounds flawlessly.
American eagle is the only 22 type round that I know of that my gun will accept without choking on it.

First time out my LCPII .22 ran fine through 100-120 rounds of Armscore bulk, Minimag, Federal Automatch, Stingers. Second time out with Win Hypervelocity 40g HP 12 of the first 20 didn't fire. Ran those through my LCRx and 4 of them fired. So I don't consider that a gun issue but rather an ammo (Winchester) issue.

  • @tominmo8865
    @tominmo8865 Před 11 měsíci +2

I consider CCI ammo to the the gold standard as far as reliability. I would never put Win or Rem 22LR ammo in a CCW gun, except experimentation. Your mom should be fine if she's using CCI Mini Mag 36gr HP or 40gr RN or Velocitors. Or AR Tac 40gr RN (designed specifically for semiauto feeding).
I have an LCP Max .380 that has all the Mcarbo upgrades, the Galloway 13 lb recoil spring, and a Hogue Handall grip sleeve for the Sig P365 (cut off the finger separator for this application). It is super-snappy, but the spring and sleeve do help. Great for deep pocket carry. DeSantis pocket holster.
For the LCP II 22LR, I immediately bought the Mcarbo guide rod, takedown pin and 10% heavier recoil spring. Also have the LCP II Hogue grip sleeve. Haven't gotten it to the range yet, and will try both springs. Based on that experience, I will decide if it needs any more love from Galloway or Mcarbo.
Whenever I buy a gun, especially a new one, I go over it with various fine grits of wet/dry sandpaper to smooth things out, starting with 400 grit and going up to 2000. A pre-breakin. Mag follower, slide, feed ramp. It really helps.

My LCP 2, 22lr likes Aguila 38 grain, super, extra, ball or hollow points the best from what I can tell. It doesn’t like anything with extra long brass like Federal Punch or Stingers because it gets hung up on ejection. 38 grain seems like the sweet spot. 40grain or heavier is less reliable than 38 grain Aguila for this little automatic.

My LCP2 in .22 has been excellent so far. There was an initial break in period, but it was short and I expected it. Mine likes the CCI MInis. 1 out of 100 might fail to fire and I'm okay with that. I will add that I keep her very clean and I use only Balistol. Maybe that make a difference? 22 is pretty low power and getting a SA pistol to cycle with it is like walking a tight rope. There's just not that much spare energy for the engineers to work with for cycling. Keeping things really clean and lubricated really matters at these lower power levels, I think.

  • @gunmonkey6545
    @gunmonkey6545 Před rokem +6

I have had similar issues with Ruger customer service, as well.
    I had a Gen 1 Ruger American 270 Winchester.
The cheap ass plastic stock had a crooked barrel channel that contacted the barrel at the front 2 inches.
I would get 2 shots touching at 100 yards and a flyer 3 inches away consistently.
Ruger sent me another stock. It was a carbon copy of the original. Warped!
They sent me a return label. I sent it in to them. 6 weeks later I received it back with a "test target" picture that I couldn't even make out with a note that said everything was fine. I was just imagining things, apparently. It did the same damn thing! Zero change, what so ever!
I was pissed! I got on the phone to them, and Ruger said send it back again.
Oh sure! Send it back and wait another 6 weeks for them to send it back to me to tell me everything is fine again. HELL NO! I told them to pound sand, that I was going to get rid of it.
I ended up selling it and picked up a Marlin X7 270 Winchester.
First time out, straight out of the box, CLOVER LEAFS at 100 yards, all day, every day, any day, with 4 different types of ammo.
Best group to date with that rifle: 3 shots at 100 yards 3/8"! ZERO FLYERS! Problem solved!
That being said, I love Ruger firearms, and own several of them. Pistols, revolvers, rifles. They can be great. Their customer service can be very annoying, at times, to say the least!
I have had very little luck with Winchester rimfire ammo in any caliber. 22LR, 22 Mag, 17 HMR, any of it!
Failure to fire, failure to eject, poor accuracy! I avoid it like the plague! Garbage!
As you probably know by now, NEVER EVER ask for a recommendation on anything from these salesmen in gun shops, for ANYTHING! EVER!
9 times out of 10 they will lie to you, or do whatever it takes, just to move inventory out the door. That's how a business works. They could care less if it is the best thing for you. They got your money and you are out the door, and that's the end of it, as far as they are concerned.
"What would you recommend" the 4 words that will get you screwed every time by these pricks!!!!
Don't play that game. Do your own research. Know exactly what you want, and if they don't have it, don't settle for some garbage they try to push on you.
    Just my .02 cents.
