Actually, most real families aren’t as cornily touchy feely as the main family on Full House and the Brady Bunch. Growing up, my parents used swear words in front of my brothers and I, or yelled at us when they were angry with us all the time. My brothers and I lashed out at our parents, and said stuff like “I hate you” when we were angry with each other all the time. We didn’t eat dinner together every night because our parents had jobs, they often came home later, and/or we all just followed our own schedules and ate when we felt like it. It didn’t/doesn’t mean that we didn’t/don’t love each other, we usually forgave/forgive each other when we argue/argued together and yell/yelled at each other, even if most of us only ever talk/talked about our feelings with each other when we feel/felt we are/were reaching our breaking points because most of us are introverts and not the best at talking about our feelings. We’re all still close, we all are pretty loyal to each other, and we hang out with each other every weekend/holiday. However, in real life, most families aren’t as sappy as the Bradys and the Tanners on TV.
A lot of the sitcoms from the 1980s like Different Strokes, Growing Pains, The Cosby's, and more shared the same cheerful and happy oriented theme that Full House had. They weren't really like that and around the same time, The Simpson's was edgy because it challenged that image.
Why is it that in the old days people were just so wholesome looking. Like naturally good looking without any artificial flavors... Sorry I'm just jelly.😟
