Taming creatures while your weapon slot empty also appears to grant a taming bonus to both emote and feeding interactions. If there are any other updates I'll edit this comment with them.

GREAT guide! Am looking to tame a flock of rasps, to surround a singer's position in a cantina. Your guide provided some excellent insight, into getting started!

I'm glad it was helpful! The Creature Taming Index linked in the description is fairly complete with example waypoints to spawns for almost all of the tamable creatures at this point.
For rasps I usually go to Talus and search the southeast and central south areas of the map (south of Dearic). They spawn in good numbers there.

Although 9 points is enough, its maybe wise to use some of the Chu Gon dar items for the master taming Necklace, its worth the money if you also want to be a Beastmaster, some skils to learn Need the master taming Necklace.

To my knowledge Trample is the only pet special that requires the Master Taming Necklace, but having 11 Creature Knowledge does help with learning all pet specials (especially tougher ones like Puncture 3). I'd agree that if someone wants to get heavily into Beast Master then the Master Taming Necklace is a good investment to make early on.
If a player just wants to tame creatures or isn't sure they want to do much Beast Mastery, then I wouldn't recommend the Master Taming Necklace simply because the warmly glowing magseal detector sells for around ~20 million credits. That amount could buy a player a new set of gear complete with attachments and a weapon, or most of a Aurilia Jewelry Set.

I don't recommend driving around on a speeder to look for babies. If you know the general area they spawn in, it's better to look on foot, as they can be slow to spawn in, and easily missed on a vehicle.

Good point! While driving around I have noticed creatures can be slow to appear at times. I try to compensate by stopping every few hundred or so meters to make sure the area around me has filled in. The overhead and mini maps help a lot in identifying spawns and whether or not some spawns have yet to appear.

Set them as goals and work towards them; that's the best way to experience SWG! Some of these things will be really easy, like resources for feeding creatures, and others will take time, like the Minder Gloves or Taming Necklaces. If the goals feel overwhelming I highly suggest joining a guild. People often recruit in the SWG Legends Discord and occasionally on the Legends forums.

Why didn't you talk about how to get a combat pet? I just want a basic guide to this.. This is a advance guide..

Beast Master is completely different from this

Pets capable of combat are obtained through a different process called incubation. This is unique to the NGE era of the game which is why it is separate from creature taming.
This thorough guide details how to incubate and raise a pet for combat: swglegends.com/forums/showthread.php?1361-a-simple-beastcrafting-guide&p=19995

other than playing jedi off the bat, legends is not that great, nge's requirements to tame are downright shit, vs cu/pre where all you need is to unlock the CH tree... after hitting CK to observe creatures for while... it doesnt get the 1 CK to be able to tame...

Well, that one flaw is not enough to make Legends not great. It IS the best place to play for many, many other reasons, even if taming isn't as good as it might have been in the preCU days.
