- Determining the air content of concrete using a volume air meter (ASTM C173). This is one of the tests required as part of the ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician exam.
Since I forgot to mention it in the video, to get the air content of the concrete, take the final air meter reading (3%, in this case), add the number of calibrated cups of water (if any; this will usually be 0), and subtract the correction for large amounts of alcohol (this is tabled, in ASTM C173, and was also 0 in this case).
Just wanted to say your vids are great. I subbed. You have a very sharp mind and clear communication.
Great Job, enjoyed the video
Thank you Doctor!!
good job buddy.
I work in a laboratory in Mexico and is like a universal language all concrete evidence .
hola cuanto ganas trabajando en un laboratorio en mexico?
Great video! Thank you
You aggregate aka you rock 🤘
excellent demo and explanations
Too much echo. I can't understand. Try again with the microphone near by or worn by the speaker.
hey one question so whats your final reading ? i guess is 3 % right ? not 2 3/4?
Correct. The last reading you take is the final air content, and is the one you report. (After correcting for any calibrated cups added and alcohol, depending on how much you added)
thanks man
Don't forget to dance when you invert the vessel.
Is this a real test or is it a spoof? I waited for the speaker to say the magic words or dance the magic dance. What is this test suppose to prove? Goofy!
Concrete looks a little dry there
it's called the roller meter test...
+lee radio You're right-that's how many people refer to this test. I went with the name ACI and ASTM use for it for the purposes of this video.
+Matt OReilly thanks. i'll be taking mine on march 5...
