    I was in the process of losing an entire weekend trying to connect my newly arduino-ed yolk to the sim. Thought I'd made a big mistake committing everything to through a 2560.
    Then you came along with this absolutely incredible tutorial. And you introduced me to HubHop - and JAMIE !
    I could NEVER have pieced all this together by myself.
    Thank you, Sir.

    Hi CaptainBob,
    You make great videos! Calm voice and clear explanation. As a beginner I have a question. Once the board is programmed, it doesn't work independently for me. I always have to load MF Connector for it to work. Is that the intent or am I doing something wrong?
    I hope you will help me. Thank you very much for that.

    • @CaptainBobSim
      @CaptainBobSim  Před rokem

      That is the intent - MobiFlight is a software that has to be running for the connection from Arduino to flight simulator to be made.
      Use the "Autorun feature" then mobiflight should run automatically.

    • @pure4wood501
      @pure4wood501 Před rokem

      Thanks for your quick reply. However, I am concerned that MobiFlight will try to overwrite my Arduino Leonardos (programmed as joystick in Arduino IDE sketch) which are in the same setup. Then the suffering is incalculable..... (So it has already happened once, but maybe I clicked the wrong button...)

    • @CaptainBobSim
      @CaptainBobSim  Před rokem

      @@pure4wood501 Yes, MobiFlight will overwrite it. If you flash a mobiflight board it can only be a mobiflight board

    Hi Trevor, I followed your tutorial here (thank you for your channel!!!) and I have an issue. When I use a pot for the C172 throttle, it will ALWAYS go back to zero? I can put the put at 100% power and it will go to 100% in MSFS 2020, but again, it will ALWAYS return to zero when the pot is still at 100% Do you now why this is happening? Thanks again!!!

    Hi Thanks for these fantastic tutorials! I'm new to mobiflight and making things in general for flight sim. I have built the 737diy non - motorized throttle unit, can I use an uno to process the inputs of my potentiometers in MSFS2020 using the PMDG 737?I can't seem to find any presets for this and am open to do some learning to achieve my goal. But is it doable to start?

    • @CaptainBobSim
      @CaptainBobSim  Před rokem +1

      I'd first test the generic events under the flight sim 2020 tab. To make sure PMDG is compatible with them (you can follow the video but when making a variable set it to a number (511 is 50%) and see if manipulating the number does anything.
      I'd recommend watching my second "advanced" poteniometer video which shows how to map it to a variable.

    Love your videos. Please consider a video on interfacing Alvaro Alea's directional compass with the heading bug. I've built one but the two rotary switches have me stumped. I don't want to just make it another wiskey compass. You're far more savvy than I am. Hoping you do it. Thanks

    • @CaptainBobSim
      @CaptainBobSim  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Phill!
      I'm designing my own instruments to have configurable with MobiFlight, and won't be making a tutorial for Alvaro Alea's compass unfortunately :( but I will do mine once they are designed.
      Use 07CC 2 Autopilot heading value, as degrees*65536/360 for the little indicator
      and
      0580 4 Heading, *360/(65536*65536) for degrees TRUE.[Can be set in slew or pause states]
      You can use the altimeter video and the compass video to help show the concepts with this.
      I can help you with this if you should get stuck

    X-Plane 11 - Managed to get a parking brake indicator working using this tutorial as a basis, which is a big success for me as I have never used an arduino before, or a flight sim, or Mobiflight come to that! But I could not get my yoke potentiometers to work - everything ok in Mobiflight when I checked the debug logging, put the values into the Hubhop code generator, but sadly the yoke doesn’t move for either the pitch or the elevator.
    The arduino appears in Device Manager under Ports, on COM5. Checking the settings in X Plane shows no yoke connected so X Plane obviously defaults to using the mouse - maybe that’s the problem??? Or maybe the Hubhop code doesn’t work with XPUIPC??? Any ideas?

      @CaptainBobSim  Před 2 lety

      The hubhop code is only for MSFS 2020, I'm sorry :(

    Knowing how to read the output of a measuring instrument is a skill which should be obtained by grade 9. At least that's when I was introduced to the slide rule, decades ago. A few minutes of preparatiom should have got you up to speed on reading an Ohmmeter's output.
    And your reading of the display which put the decimal in the wrong place was grotesque in the extreme. Only magnified further by demonstrating that you didn't know what the device is called.
    I cringed hard in sympathetic embarrassment while watching this.
