Instead of having everyone choose their own badge at the beginning, how about having to choose their opponents badge instead? That way they have to focus on aspects they might otherwise try to avoid.
I second this idea!!!!
This is actually a really cool idea
Sounds torturous and absolutely hilarious, love it
This is a great idea
Oh 100% I love that
I think we need a tour of Ebbers allotment, since we hear so much about it these days. We want garden ebbers
He posts about it on his Instagram sometimes! :D
you just want to see Ebbers on a tractor and in a farmers outfit.
You know he will have them even if his garden does not need it.
Ebbers allotment sounds like a hearty home cooking program.
@@misterkayy that was half the joke . I did say "even if his garden does not need it"
it's at best as big as one human can maintain by hand. Even if his garden would be somewhere in the green belt around London.
A toy tractor would be all that would fit.
@@sirBrouwer There's no way an allotment, let alone one in London is big enough for let alone needs a tractor.
And you don't tend your allotment in a 'farmer's outfit' unless it's a joke.
If anyone was thinking these guys are too good to be normals, Jamie saying “we’re going to rely on fate” proves they’re just as normal as ever
i mean shit even chef's would do the same
Right, and then his fish was perfectly cooked.
No, dude. I consider myself a decent home cook, but these "normals" are half chefs by now.
There’s no denying that all three of the normals have come on leaps and bounds over the past thirteen years of the channel but despite their skills and knowledge developing incredibly they are still so very normal 😂😂 it could only be Jamie of all people to put something in the oven and leave it to fate 😂😂
Love it that the guys have been friends for so long that they’re making the exact same joke as they open (and immediately shut) the mystery box.
It's It's dad thing
@@ivylee42069 probably yes! I can see my own dad respond like that. Or at least one of my brothers-in-law.
This really was a fun episode to watch! No losers, Mike tasting a lot of good food, Ben really happy with the mystery box he made with own harvest, Jamie and Baz both really almost comfortabel with cooking and almost no stress. Wow. Big thumbs up for you guys!!!
Pneapple
“I’ve grown more than one man can actually eat”
Yeah here in Midwest USA it’s that time of year for “remember to lock your car doors or your neighbors will give you zucchini” jokes.
As a fellow Midwesterner, I've stopped growing my own tomatoes because so many people are always trying to give away their extras!
😂🤣
@@lael5327 Yeah that's what I was gonna say. I'll take zucchini every time but damn I hate tomatoes and I get offered those far more often, lol.
Lol! I would leave all doors - and the trunk - wide open, then. I love vegetables!
After an abundance of zucchini and covid terrified people last year, i had a huge amount of zucchini i had to eat. Didnt even grow it this year because im still sick of it.
Ben, would you ever consider surprising them with what badge they're WORTHY of at the end (if any :P) based on your observation vs. them choosing which to aim for at the start?
Great idea.... we will pass this onto the team :)
@@SortedFood also, since Jaime didn't plate his food, he should have his previous multitasking badge taken away. It's not multitasking if you can't deliver a presentable final product.
I would love it if at the end of this all, they have to use all the badges they gathered in making a meal.
@@SortedFood do it
@@remmingtonsteele2287 Disagreed. He didn't put it on a plate, but he did serve and present it (aside from the figs) in a different, equally inviting way. More like a feast than a single dish. If anything, Barry just shoveled all his ingredients onto the plate and called it a day. The fact that it's on a plate doesn't mean it's well plated!
"What we're going to rely on is... fate!"
A man after my own heart.
"Just use feeling!"
That look at the camera from Ebbers straight after said way more than words ever could.
But then it worked!
Barry: "I'm going for the plating badge"..then literally hand-shovels a load of couscous salad onto a plate.
True, yet it ended up looking gorgeous. Bright, colourful and very appetising.
They still gave it to him. Feels like a pity badge tbh
Well... Jamie bit off more than he could chew and forgot the figs, which ruined his presentation.
Does he need to lose a badge
@@andrasbak but Jamie wasn't going for a plating badge.
Love the sad & disappointed quiet 'wheres the steak?' from Jamie Vs James's 'WHERES THE DISH?!'
I came to the comments looking for this!
“A chef needs to get rid of allotment veg” could be a new series.
Although… does someone have a catchier name for it?
Haha this really could be a new series!
@@SortedFood I’d love to watch it! And I’m pretty sure Ben won’t mind that he won’t have to overfill his freezer and bring veggies to every friend he’s visiting.
Yep… that’s how I get rid of allotment overflow when I get it. The only upside on a really bad allotment season for me this is year is that I get to actually eat it all myself (since there’s hardly anything that’s growing). 😂
@@SortedFood Ben has talked a lot about what he grows whether it's vegetable or herb, Ben how about a tour of your personal Garden (s)
Maybe name it "Chef's Cupboard Clearout"?
@@TheIvoryDingo Ooh I like that!
"That one doesn't smell; that one's broken." Harsh diagnosis. Harsh. 😂
"Where's the steak?" Never change, Jamie.
Barry: "Is this a lobster or a prawn?"
Be careful what you say, not that you loose another badge...
That was clearly a size joke though. Lobsters and Prawns look quite different.
"Celebration of summer"
"couscous"
"Barry"
Hm, where have I heard this one before...
Atleast it isnt a cloud egg
Just keep the beet juice out of the kettle
It's like poetry, it rhymes.
I love the idea of using Ben's allotment veg in a video. You can tell how proud he is of his produce... even if it's broken.
"That one doesn't smell. That one's broken."
There is a problem, lads, he already has the "Basic Multitasking" badge from the second burrito battle. Can you go for them again and again?
I think they can if they lose that badge along the way. You're right, I thought about the same exact thing.
Noticed that as well...
Yeah or they meant to give him the intermediate badge for multitasking as he only had the basic badge
mike seems to have 2 of the twist badge as well
it occurred to him that the🔮🛢🗿⚱️⚰️🚬
So now,Jamie has two of the same badge?
I think rather than them choosing to go for a badge, they should be rewarded based on observations from Ben and the team.
Ngl, I’m kind of surprised Jamie got the multitasking badge considering he didn’t get his figs on his plate on time
Exactly !! I was pretty confused when Ben announced it.
especially considering he had time to spare at some point.
Agreed!
Well it’s his second of the same badge
Pretty sure Barry would've lost a multitasking badge had he made the same mistake. lol I'm joking, but only kind of.
PLEASE do a relay and prank Ben. Bring in 3 professional chefs to complete steps for Jamie, Mike and Barry! 🤣
Brings a tear to my eye that Barry finally have a 2nd row of badges
the fact that both J and Baz closed their box immediately after having a staredown with the fish is proof they are as Normal as ever
i've been following sorted since their very beginnings and you can see how the normals have evolved over the years and even developed their own style of cooking. Jaime uses bold flavours and isn't afraid of aggressive spices. Barry is a lot subtler and clean with his flavours and i feel mike is very technical with his cooking and isn't afraid of going places being experimental with techniques and flavours.
i love that both Barry and Jamie opened the box...and then closed the box because of the fish lol
Haha it was a bit of a shock, the Sea Bass and Prawns were so big!!! We're using a Seafood supplier now so all of the Seafood we use is another level 👌
a dear little girl who was 😘😍😎😋😊😉😆
One day her mother said to her😑☺️😋🤣
‘What have you got in your apron?’💍💄📿⛑🧢🎓🎩💎
I need a gif of Barry opening and closing that box.
"Gameface!....... oh dear"
“Where’s the Steak?”
WE JUST SERVED KYRPTONITE TO JAMIE AGAIN 😂
We need a video of how the 'kitchen staff' work. How are recipes developed? BTS _PLEASE!!_
Well they practice the dishes before they do the episode. I noticed how Jamie's dish was Mike's choice for secondsies despite finishing second... anyway, it's all scripted so I just enjoy the ride.
One thing I wanna mention that I think goes unnoticed... thanks a lot for the outro you guys make. A, because the blooper is always a fun way to end a video, but also, and more importantly B, because the video annotations are actually properly placed and don't hide anything on the screen like on so many other channels. Well done!
Would love to see Mike be allowed to earn badges during judging, like spiceology, when he’s tasting the food
I would like to see a leftover challenge using as many leftovers as possible and with a theme, like... thai/veg or something like that. And get a zero waste badge (?)
Has the Sorted team ever thought of doing a 'Behind the Scenes' video one day that shows all the processes and elements that go into making all your awesome content?
I would love a little Ebbers garden mini series showing us how to grow and use what we have grown in our garden
I would've lost it if Barry said, "Ben, today I'm going for my Kohlrabi Badge."
Well, he has a squid badge....
I fully expected him to say "Sea bass badge"
@Louise 22 y.o - check my vidéó
Chef uses his cucumbers
Ben's reaction when Barry points out the big bite in the beet root hahaha
I've never been more thankful for a video. Post hurricane, day 3 without power. At least cell service has restored enough to be able to watch CZcams. Thank you guys for some of my smiles today!
Hope you and your family are staying safe!! Sending all positive thoughts to everyone still hurting from this storm!
Stay safe!!!
Stay safe! Hopefully they get the power grids back up and running. If your family or friends need a meal, I heard WCK has locations open each day as well as cooling centers too.
Stay safe - from a Chicagoan-Brit who has many friends in La. Am glad casualties were low, but you’re going through hellish infrastructure issues. Also glad Sorted made you smile. I love watching these videos on the odd rough day (nothing as rough as yours tho’…)
Ben seems to love and care for his allotment more than his friends. Juding from some of the comments and challenges 😂😂
You need to do a mystery box with all their least favourite ingredients to try and make a meal that the taster would like.
It's his new baby.
@@SortedFood I would have never guessed. He needs his own little side series on tiktok and Instagram about his allotment and what to do with the veg he grows so they don't go to waste
@@SortedFood I hope Tyrone is still getting some of Ben's love!
the house, and thought🧗♀️🤹♀️🤹♂️🤺🤾♀️🤾♂️🤽♀️
Little Red-Cap raised her eyes🍙🍘🥫🍱🍿🥗🥣
Watching both of them cut the heads off those prawns instead of cooking them whole has traumatized me. I'm upset. I think Ben agrees with me, too.
Jamie has been impressive this year. He seems much more organized and patient than in the past and it’s making him a better cook.
I love that they make a conscious effort not to waste anything
I loved Barry's dish! I thought he was in his prime with this one. Really wanted to try those corgettes
I agree Barry deserved the win - while everything Jamie made looks amazing, it’s not really ‘a dish’. Part of the fun of a mystery box is to figure out how to make them all work together, not just cook each thing separately (even if it’s well done)
Love how they both reacted the same way by closing the box "It's staring at me!"
I think this is the only time I've backed Barry, he absolutely smashed it out the park!
We NEED a sub-segment involving all the guys' gardening skills to boost their kitchen repertoire! (GO Ben!!!!)
I love that Ben had to use an award for the flowers in the bloopers... HIlarious and tells you about Ben
James: where's the dish?!
Jamie: where's the steak??
welcome to another episode of "how many effing plants does ebbers have in this apartment"
His garden has everything
If its an allotment, its probably some kind of community garden.
It's a community garden
Very jealous of all the goodies that Ebbers has from his allotment. All we have had so far is a load of courgette and one (but plenty more coming) butternut squash, plus a few leaves of chard
Barry's face when Ben says cauliflower instead of courgette flower was hilarious.
Barry has knife skills!! Also love his curly hair. All of that irrelevant to the point of the video, but thought i would say. I want to make miso eggplant, and (zuccini) flowers - we had a garden growing up and my mom opened up the flowers flat and battered and fried them. It was a treat as there were never more than 1/2 flower each. You always give me inspiration
definitely think that Barry deserved that win. I also noticed that some of the badges are being repeated for both Mike (twist badge, fifth and last badge on the graphic) and Jamie (multi tasking badge, sixth and last on the graphic). Was that intentional or an oversight?
they probably forgot
Reinforcing that they deserve it? If they fail, might lose it.
"Where's the steak?" Jamie . . . that is one hell of a mood!
You guys should make them pick a badge each and put both badges up for grabs, so whoever delivers the best in each category wins it, regardless if it was their initial choice or not.
Agreed
Considering everyone mocks his intelligence I am always bowled away by Barry. He has improved so much and he clearly thinks more about his dishes and how he wants to assemble things. Weird to say but I'm very proud of him
I love the unique veg selection. I've never used fennel, kolhrabi, beetroot, eggplant/aubergine, courgette flowers or fig in my own cooking. For fennel, kohlrabi and courgette flowers, I don't think I've even eaten them before.
Edit: that was a hard choice. I feel like Jamie's would be the meal I'd rather eat, but I feel like Barry's is what I'd expect from a somewhat expensive restaurant.
Ben put in a broken herb for Jamie.....LOL!
Love how mike just keeps eating as ben talks.
"Yada Yada yada...uh huh Ebbers....munch munch...yumm..."
Ooh, cream cheese filled, fried courgette flowers are really interesting! Would love to see what that tastes like.
I don’t know why the boys give Ebbers so much grief about bringing in the items from the allotment. Don’t they realize how much money he’s saving them?
Unless he’s then claiming the allotment as a business expense 😂
Probably because Ben is as bad as most of us who grow veg. I bet that he's repeatedly turning up to anything with veg to constantly try and give away what's just glut. 😂😅
Barry let the ingredients speak for themselves. Jamie took a bunch of fresh ingredients and tried to create flavour in them with spices. I. would order Barry’s dish in a restaurant all day long.
I think they're both great in their own way, it just depends what you're after at the time. Though for nostalgia's sake, I'd eat Barry's zucchini blossoms any day. Reminds me of something my granddad would make in the summer.
I really like this format. Like how Mike said, we get to see mostly the same ingredients used in different and exciting ways. Also, both of these meals looked amazing.
At this point this has become the 'Ebbers allotment' channel
😂 steady on.
@@SortedFood im totally not complaining, i love the avenues its opened up i just find myself wondering what ebbers has brought from 'the allotment' at the beginning of every episode
Gosh darn it guys! I'm not allowed to watch your new uploads without my hubby. So I always have to wait. Going to look forward to this all day. And then I get to drool over the amazing creations!
Haha.... it's like watching the next episode of a Netflix show without your viewing buddy there too 😂
@@SortedFood Shhh! Don't reveal the secret! 🤣 We love the mystery box challenges so I shan't betray my hubby this time!
We all either laugh or sigh when the guys make mistakes but give them credit where credit is due, they regularly perform incredibly well in these mystery box battles that are deceptively harder than they appear! I don’t know how many of us viewers would be able to identify a range of random unknown ingredients, create a plan in a short time and then execute their ideas to produce decent offerings
Jamie relying on “fate” for that whole fish, that hurt Ben’s Cheffy heart!😅🤷♀️😂🥰
Jamie should lose a plating badge😂
I love this format, mystery box is so fun. Now I am hoping for a return of mystery night out :D
I'd love to see a mystery box centred more around herbs and spices (Ebbers can even bring in his fresh herbs for them to use). Watching the normals flap around trying to make oregano or rosemary the centre piece of a dish would be hilarious
Fascinating how two very different styles of presentation can look so delicious. Jamie's, presented in a variety of ways from paper to pans, looked like a feast and invited you to try individual elements; Barry's, all on one plate but tastefully arranged to show off the colors and textures, invited you to enjoy the dish as a whole. Both looked amazing and I would have been hard pressed to choose a winner myself!
"gonna roast the figs with honey and black pepper"
ahhh, like mike's toast that beat you, hey baz?
If it were up to me, I'd take away Jamie's seasoning badge if he has one for not knowing what fresh oregano is but allow him a chance to recoup.
Ebbers: Here are some exquisite handgrown farm-to-table seasonal ingredients that I have given my love to..
Normals: Are you trying to get rid of stuff from your allotment?
Jamie is on fire. He's doing SO well!
I think presentation isnt just setting up the plate at the end to look pretty, but picking the right items and preparing them well to look good on the plate. Barry definitely had a delicious looking plate. I would be wow'd if I got that at a restaurant. It's a beautiful assortment.
Maybe Mike should take on the Person who ended up in second place (or Looser (Jamie) and then the winner of that could face Barry, with the winner of that facing Ebbers.
I would love to see some videos from Ben's allotment. It's a part of cooking which isn't covered much on the channel and I think it'd be really interesting and entertaining. Gardener's World meets Sorted Food.
Barry did such a wonderful job!! Really deserved the win AND the badge.
Maybe a suggestion: You could make some of the future mystery boxes vegetarian. Not for a gimmick, but just to have more vegetarian videos in the rotation :)
great idea! as a vegetarian, I still really love watching all kinds of cooking content but it gets tedious to always know I will never be able to eat most of the stuff I watch since it has meat as an integral part. More vegetarian dishes without it needing to be a gimmick would be refreshing to see
@@misscutenar2333 same! I love cooking along, but since I became a vegetarian earlier this year that has become quite a bit more difficult.
i also think it would be a simple way to show that you don't always need meat (red meat, poultry, fish) to have a complete dish/meal
Think Ben was a bit generous with the badges. Multi tasking would include time management/ plating. And Barry's bright summer dish was a tad beige.
You couldn't pick the wrong one. They both look great and I can only dream about how they taste... Very cheffy job for a normal :)
Jaime relying on fate made me surprise laugh. I thought he was going to say intuition!
Just wanted to say I’m loving all of your videos at the moment - I’m pregnant and can’t sleep very well, and absolutely loving watching your videos at night although I’m always chuckling and waking up my partner!
Thanks for the fab videos - will definitely be getting some inspiration from you guys for food prepping before baby gets here!
That's amazing! Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)
Petition to name the baby Tyrone if it's a boy. :-)
Pavium 😂😂😂 he is a boy! I wouldn’t want to steal Ben’s child’s name though! 😂
Season 2 !!! Let's gooo, Barry v Jamie is always hilarious 😂
I would have chosen Jamie's dishes... but both looked great! Well done guys!
“Come on, prawn. Behave yourself!” 😂
Ebbers, i feel you, i too grow more than i can eat and literally harrass people and give them veg and fruit
Love this!
0:55 1:28 Barry seems to be getting really good at naming what he is cooking with. fair play to him.
1:12 meanwhile... Jamie is trying his best
😂brilliant.
Damn fine job Barry. Despite a few minor stumbles I'm thoroughly impressed.
Flavour vs subtlety - this is a classic Jamie vs Barry
I won't say Jamie DOESN'T deserve that badge but he is very lucky to not be penalised too hard for forgetting about the figs until the very last moment
Doesnt deserve it
To be fair, he only even attempted the prawns because he multitasked SO well that he had extra time. He made all the things he intended to make when he set out.
I'm surprised that Jamie's presentation badge wasn't at risk.
It should have been taken away. But apparently only Barry can lose Badges, because that‘s „funny“.
@@rowy269 Not really, Jamie also nearly lost one but saved it. Besides the figs, I would say the presentation was okay.
I don't know, I think everything looks nice.
The bass with panda, the eggplant layered on itself, even the way the prawns turned out.
It wouldn't win a badge, but given it was 3 separate plates, what else could you do, other than remember your figs?
@@dblackdrake For one, actually put them on plates lol
Allotment veg grown by a dedicated hobby gardener are some of the best veg you can have. I grew up on them and the tomatoes alone make such a difference. As an adult I fully realized how much knowledge, love, and care goes into these veg and how often you have to cut some losses because of e.g. weather or animals.
Jamie, I know you just made a joke about Ben trying to "dump" his allotment veg on you. ❤ But it's truly
a healthy and kind gift of somebody shares home-grown allotment veg with you. The attention and cheering on that goes into those plants and their fruit is worth a big shoutout. 🥳🥳🥳
But please don't let Ben enter local home-gardener competitions for some kind of ribbon like Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall...At least not without making an episode out of it...😁❤
I'm so so happy that Barry fried the courgette flower.
It's such an underrated and not well known ingredient that tastes absolutely incredible if done well.
It's one of my favourite foods ever, and I've only eaten it twice in 29 years. :D
We’re there two multitasking badges on Jamie’s belt? Wow Jamie, lost the battle and didn’t get a new badge out of it, that’s real harsh
The cutlery scraping on Mike's plate made me physically recoil away from my screen.
Ditto my body had an involuntary flinch/shiver
I had to pause the video and take a few minutes before I could continue :s
Send the normals to finishing school. At once!
I did not appreciate it either X'D
Glad Ebs mentioned they were going to make stock with those prawn heads. That's where all the best flavor is!
We eat Kohlrabi in Germany a lot but usually in a Béchamel sauce or raw as a salad 🥗 kohl means cabbage in German 👍
Could we have a tour of Ben's allotment? It looks amazing! Could be on Insta also
"Where's the steak?"
Jamie asking the important questions
Those are the biggest freaking prawns I've ever seen! I didn't even know they could get that big!
I was really impressed with Barry's dish! It looks so beautiful.
