Gerry's valiant sacrifice against Goreclaw the Dragon allowed the Larry the Lizard Wizard to come in and clean up the vile wyrm. Gerry is amazing, and he absolutely was a great pick, for the vibes.

The Gyrocopter does count as a War Machine, so plopping the Engineer's buff on it is a strong permanent bonus!

I don't think you can use the buff on your mount.
@@mrbork7218 you 100% can and it'll have 7 armor, reroll 1s.
Sadly the UI makes targeting the unit beneath the hero a bit wonky.
So, interesting thing! Holding X shows your charge ranges, and C shows the enemies - But hold either of those *and* SHIFT and you also get to see ranged attack stuff (No spells, though)! I've also largely discovered that Chariots are kind of a trap, unless you can get them into flanks.
That shift info is very welcome, thanks so much.
I find they're pretty useful with heroes, although I'd still prefer them to have other mounts usually

This is the kind of comment I come down into the comments for.
Someone has already said about pressing X and C to see charge ranges, but here is another helpful tip:
If you have a smaller army than the enemy it will say Pass at the top of the screen and you can hit space to make the opponent move another unit, you can do this until you both have the same number of units left to activate.
Super useful to let you react better to enemy movements and makes smaller elite armies more viable.
Just be careful not to hit space when it says Skip Phase by mistake as you'll end the movement/shooting phase, although the game does make you hit space again to really skip which is a nice feature.

Can certainly change what might have been an enemy flank charging you to an even counter charge or even sometimes allow you to take the flank yourself.
So did GW just ask too much for the rights? Because I would give them my money, just as I’ve given Sovl it :-)

I love how Tom in both videos seem to underestimate the bird friends. Every fight basically goes
"Alright, dragon ogres, you got 4 kills great job on the charge"
"oh nice, the wizard got 2 kills
"oh yeah, and the dinosaurs, 9 kills i guess"

I hate how much fun I’m having with this game… it’s so good!
I will say though, this Sovl game perfectly recreates the absolute rage of playing Warhammer fantasy.

I got the engineer in my first run as a vampire night and he kinda carried. He can get a gun
That weapon with a +1 or +2 ranged attack skill makes sniping cav and chariots so much easier.
I think this is my favourite sort of series of yours as of late
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if this became the whole channel. A Great game with massive replayability about something Tom is passionate about. What’s not to love?

This is such a fun little game.
The Abyssal faction is very much a spin the wheel game, where when you are lucky and your dark gifts hit the right spots you will crush absolutely everything. But if not, well that happens when you are dealing with chaos.
Soul has quickly become one of my favourite games

i love the lil gyro boy because he can mess with the enemy pathfinding, his gun can be quite good too

The dwarf engineer on the gyrocopter is pretty good as long as you can use jis upgrade on his mount every time

Bloodletters are something else as long as they don't get into a grind fest. Chaos warriors are pretty stronk too just from sheer staying power

The main power of the gyrocopter is using its movement to break the AI. They will constantly get just within charge range of it, and you can easily move out of charge range every turn if you move it last. You can keep at least 2 enemy units on one flank out of the fight until your main killers are done with the other flank
That's the best strat I've found for abyss knights. Kite them endlessly while you use ranged - ideally artillery - on them or set up your melee units for a triple or quadruple charge. The next best strat I've found for dealing with abyss knights is to become the Guess I'll Die meme and start over

I really enjoy SOVL Tom, but I was wondering if you would give "SKALD: Against the Black Priory" a try. I think it does a real good job at being an old school RPG, and I think you and Ben would love it. The artstyle, music, and writing are highlights in my opinion as they all contribute to a horror game vibe quite well despite the limitations of the game. For the price it is definitely worth it.
I absolutely love it when Tom "tries" to use the off-brand names and keeps slipping up and just Warhammering it

Sovl is great. Dwarf engineer can be very good but I feel like hiring new leaders in the second act is never very good, they just don't have enough time to actually git gud
