One of the mistakes I made was putting mine too close together, at only 32 inches apart, and I wish now I had put them at least 4 ft, 5 would be better, leave room to work and for the plants to spill over. Also I have terrible voles problems, and now the beds are so full of rodents I have given up and next year I won't even plant anything in them. I wish I had lined the bottoms w wire before filling them. Too late now and they are worthless. I have wasted hundreds of dollars on every thing to try to get rid of them-nothing has worked, I have lost thousands of dollars in plants -not exaggerating. It makes me so unhappy I don't even want to live here anymore. I just got 3 cats, I don't think they will do anything measurable for the problem, but my husband does not want to move and that's the only thing I have not tried. So far I have spent hundreds of dollars in spay/neuter, flea med, vaccines, food, cat doors, housing boxes, litter, ect ect for cats I love to pieces and don't even want. :(

Omg I'm so sorry to hear that 😢 I'm glad you mentioned the wire for people like me who are about to attempt raised beds for the first time (just moved so I've finally got the space) and I never would've thought to do that. My issue here is neighbors A-hole cats using mine as a litter box. I've even got pictures proof! Grrrr! I had to take out all the dirt and onions less than a week after I'd built/filled/planted, as it was too risky to leave that contamination in, and start over.
I can't say I blame you for being so discouraged, but chin up...dig the dirt out and start over, knowing what you do now. Best of luck to you, internet stranger 😊❤
