Thank you very much for uploading this video. I now live in New Zealand and it took me back fifty+ years ago when I lived in England and belonged to the Duke of York's Royal Military School Band. It was there that I developed my love for military band music. It has been a wonderful half hour watching this video. Thanks

Hi Clive, did you know John Bosher, clarinet at the Duke of Yorks? He and I served together in the Band of the Scots Guards

Bravo to the young men and women musicians from HM's The Corps of Royal Marine's School of Music, at HMS Nelson, Portsmouth on this special ocassion as they complete their training and join their respective bands after two years intensive training and preparation for a full career in HM's The Corps of Royal Marines Band Service.
    BEST OF LUCK.
    HAPPY MILITARY MUSIC-MAKING.

Quite impressive-it may take years to perfect this sort of display of band music.'Beating retreat'(I think) is a legacy of colonial era when troops use to retreat to their barracks from the war zone for the day.Britain should be credited for raising a modern disciplined Army/Navy for the first time in the world that paid rich dividends for that nation in the form of various colonies around the globe. that enriched them to unimaginable levels. Moreover industrial revolution catapulted them to newer heights of prosperity never seen before. But Britain couldn't sustain it for long which is a mystery!

the uk couldnt sustain the empire because of the cost of two world wars ..most of the uk,s wealth went to the good ol u s a on armaments andnprovisions ..which is why the u s a is no 1 now..we saved them and gave our knowledge and wealth to them!!!
