    I wish commentators did a better job explaining the error that occurred during the long pause in the game. There wasn't a debate on the error that someone was in the net, both teams went into the net. The error was that Swindle, the setter, attacked a ball that was open hand set by Halter, the libero, who was in front of the 3 meter line. That is not allowed. Someone should've informed the commentators that that error happened before the nets, thus negating those nets. So there wouldn't be people mad online about a miss net call during the challenge, because there was a net, but the net occurred after the backrow attack error.

    • @Whoo_Boy
      @Whoo_Boy Před 5 měsíci +4

      @ToonSciron it did indeed seem to me that the announcers did not know why the first referee called an illegal attack. However, I must say that you also got it wrong in your explanation. You said (and I quote), "The error was that Swindle, the setter, attacked a ball that was open hand set by Halter, the libero, who was in front of the 3 meter line. That is not allowed."
      You almost got it right. Any player on the court may legally attack a ball that was set by overhand finger action by the libero in the front zone, as long as at the moment of contact by the attacker, the BALL is NOT completely above the height of the net. In this case, the ball was indeed completely above the height of the net when it was attacked from an overhand finger pass from the libero in front of the 3 meter line, and completely crossed the horizontal plane of the net through the crossing space, thereby completing the illegal attack. As soon as the ball had completely crossed the net, that is when the Tennessee player contacted the net. But, it's the violation that occurred first that stands. Illegal attack occurred first and therefore technically no net fault occurred.

      I know same. For me, i thought the call stayed because the setter was a backrow setter and the way she position herself was like she going to put the ball to ther orher court which she is not allowed at all. for me, it ddnt matter the net violations cause the setter is not allowed to joust the ball to begin with.

    • @sarawest2779
      @sarawest2779 Před 5 měsíci +3

      I use the word “attack” to say she contacted the ball above the height of the net. She was front row but the infraction is the libero using a hand set in the front row. That becomes an offensive action from a player that is supposed to be defensive only.

    • @Whoo_Boy
      @Whoo_Boy Před 5 měsíci +9

      it's always the violation that occurred first that stands. The second referee definitely called a net fault but the first referee overruled him. Texas challenged that the net fault occurred first but they did not prevail in that challenge. Texas completed an illegal attack before Tennessee contacted the net. Since the illegal attack was completed first, there was technically no net fault.

      Heads should roll and the Stanford AD should be fired. Anywhere else in the country, the #1 seeds have huge followings and packed to the gills attendance when the home team is playing. Get ready for Texas to have more fans in the stands in a half full gym than Stanford in a Texas blowout! I’m not a Texas fan but I’m totally rooting for them in this match up.

    Funny how women's volleyball and all other women's college sports and all men's college sports that isn't FBS football or men's basketball, has the top seeded teams with little to no upsets. Men's March Madness last year had no 1st, 2nd or 3rd seeded teams in the final 4 with only one 4th seed in the final 4. The biggest differences between Men's March Madness vs men's and women's college tournament sports for other sports not FBS football is gambling. March Madness is heavily gambled with over $15 billion in gambling for last years tournament. These other Men's and Women's college sports have little to no gambling and therefore no Vegas and the mafia to rig their games. Men's March Madness is obviously rigged due to heavy gambling very similar to pro leagues like MLB, the NBA and the NFL.
