One of the reasons I can't stop watching michael's videos is the humility and appreciation for these items. Rappers and other celebs come across as a spoiled kid in a candy store , but i'm always amazed by these videos. Your camera man rocks too, keep it up

Michael small note: When you talk about the rotating bezel you say "Submariner" and your watch is a GMT. The GMT will rotate its bezel both directions whereas the Submariner only rotates unidirectional (to the left), which is a safety-feature for ensuring your dive-time isn't mistakenly adjusted into the wrong direction.

I love watches but really not into diamonds on a watch... even if money was not an issue, Id never get one. Id rather get some rare pieces than buying a normal AP full of aftermarket diamonds. I respect the art and work of the jewellers doing this, but to be honest it really ruins the watch and its value... but anyway, I guess there are people buying it and enjoying it like you, so its all good :)

@@vincencohan3626 they will, no movement lasts forever. They need to be lubed every 5-8 years and usually a couple parts replaced due to wear, sometimes a very severe overhaul. Just because a watch has diamonds on it doesn't mean the watch portion is not subject to wear.

I think it suits some watches but not a rolex. I would never put diamond that are not factory on a rolex.
the watch and its value are ruined regardless. many times cases are compromised by jewelers not knowing the case depth in certain locations, leaving the watch no longer water resistant. in addition, the brands won't service them once they have had aftermarket work like this done. You can find out more on our podcast "On Time" where we talk about this very subject in one of our episodes.

rolex factory diamonds are all identical to one another on each watch. the cut, clarity, carot, and shape are all identical and fit together perfectly. it takes a ridiculous amount of time for the factory jeweler to pick the diamonds for a factory watch. that's why it's $140k as opposed to $18k for aftermarket. the other important thing that you forgot to mention is that the resale value on an aftermarket diamond rolex is so low while a factory diamond rolex holds it's value incredibly well in the resale market.
That doesn't account for the difference in price ... it's mostly a contribution to Rolex's marketing campaign, effectively (which is, coincidentally, how they can afford to charge it ... :P) ...

Only because there are so many fake gemstones out there that any old broke person can buy for $5. Imagine if fake/plastic 'gems' were never invented, only genuine stones -- then suddenly the diamond-encrusted watch wouldn't become 'cheap looking' would it? Factory set diamond watches have WAY more value. Not just a little more like he stated.

Also a diamond isn’t a diamond. Please stop saying that . Each diamond differs in quality
Setting diamonds usually raises the value of most of those watches. A steel Rolex datejust isn’t worth a whole lot compared to a diamond set one. Diamond setting a rare watch can hurt the value significantly but for a lot of these “standard” Rolex and APs it improves the value (although not by as much as it costs to set the diamonds).
Also, small diamonds like this aren’t individually rated and are quite similar in quality.

The problem with getting aftermarket diamonds on watches that are as expensive as royal oaks, rolexes, and nautiluses is that the companies won't service them anymore and once the watch no messes up and longer works, and isn't able to be serviced it's only worth the amount of diamonds and gold or platinum. Then once your watch no longer works you have to buy a new one for the same price you already spent. People with the money to afford 7-8 40-50k dollar aftermarket iced out watches are far better off getting 3-4 watches with diamonds straight from the manufacturer because they'll have the chance to increase in value when aftermarket diamond watches can only decrease unless the price of diamonds sky rocket which in that case the factory set ones would increase just as much. I have no business telling someone with more money than me what to do with the money they make. I'm just giving my 2 cents because I like this guy and don't want to see him make unwise purchases. Keep up the good work and videos though. I love this channel

Nice video. I work for Cartier, often times we will no longer consider a watch to be a Cartier piece if it is afterset with diamonds. Forget about having a guarantee on the movement also if the entire case has been set with "stones". Down to personal taste I suppose.
