I think that most of the magics are also tied to the infinity stones, not only in color but also in concept.
Red: Reality; Wanda uses chaos magic to bend and shape existence
Orange: Soul; users of eldritch magic draw from the life force of themselves and other dimensions
Yellow: Mind; possibly Odin, as he usually wields magic with that color, he is also the god of wisdom in the mythology
Green: Time; pretty self explanatory, loki and sylvie's ties with time, Doctor Strange's use of the actual time stone
Blue: Space; both Billy and the Salem witches used their blue magic for stasis purposes
Purple: Power; Dormammu and agatha were pretty powerful, AND Agatha was shown using her magic to nullify magic and extract power
The fact that wanda got both chaos AND witch magic, she definitely one of the strongest

Magic in the MCU seems like a very powerful tool. Strange's spells allowed him to go on an equal footing with Thanos using four Infinity Stones. And Wanda's Chaos Magic can rival the powers of the Stones.
Loki and Sylvie's magic were also able to give them an edge against the TVA.
This side of the MCU definitely needs to be explored further
it's literally being explored as we speak in phase 4 which has already begun... Wandavision, Loki, Doctor Strange 2, Shang-Chi, Spiderman No Way Home, and possibly Thor: Love and Thunder lmao

Wanda's magic is totally more powerful than the stones, like VERY stronger than them, theres not even a comparison to do cuz wanda slaps, well, atleast in comics, since here in marvel it isnt like that yet (she does give fight to somebody with the stones tho)
@thecrazeace I can explain how Strange was able to go toe-to-toe with four infinity stones possessed by Thanos: at the based level Strange can work around the mechanics of the stones without breaking rules just like facing Dormammu with one stone trapping him in infinity loop: heck,Wanda can break the hold or possession Thanos has over the stones just accessing a probability spell(even if the stones are in infinite loop,she can reach in the source and cut it out. Thanos can't do that,he can go back and forth within a few thousands into time,she can go out of it and stop him from getting them Every single time..

It's also the rarest. Only the Scarlet Witch possesses Chaos magic in MCU's 13 years of existence (aside from Chthon if he'll be introduced). Even the Sorcerer Supreme himself didn't believe that Chaos magic was real.

In the comics, there are 4 kinds of Magic
Egocentric Magic is the energies from one's own being. This translates to some form of psionic ability such as telepathy, telekinesis, astral projection, etc.
Ecocentric Magic is the ability to harness the ambient energies from one's surroundings such as cosmic energy or weather manipulation. This is similar to Asgardian Magic in the MCU.
Exocentric Magic is the form of magic achieved by invoking an extradimensional mystical beings (both benevolent and manevolent) to empower one's spell such as Cyttorak, Agamotto, Raggadorr, Watoomb, the Seraphims, Dormammu, Shuma-Gorath and the Vishanti to name a few. This is similar to the Eldritch Magic in the MCU.
Necromantic Magic is a form of magic obtained from the extermination of life forces, usually through human sacrifices and blood rituals and is also powered by pain, anguish, and fear of sentient life. This was created by the Elder God Chthon, inscribed in the pages of the Darkhold and was practiced mainly by the servants of the Elder God Set during the Hyborean Age (during the Knull and Conan series) and still practiced by twisted witches and sorcerers. This is basically Dark Magic itself like what was practiced by Agatha Harkness in the MCU.
Chthonic Magic or simply known as Chaos Magic was created by the Elder God Chthon; and was considered so powerful and dangerous that is was thought to be non-existent even by the Sorcerer Supreme (as well as by Agatha Harkness in the MCU). Chaos Magic is a form of magic that allows its wielder to manipulate, warp, and reconstruct the fabric of existence and reality to the user's very whims, and bring about total destruction to the cosmos. This form of magic controls both the improbable and the impossible. Chthon who's unholy might was the source of this power, used this form of magic to rule over Earth Dimension, and was only banished after all the mages of Earth banded together to end his rule, not through any spell or incantation, but through a lie. A lie that says that there is no God of Chaos, and that is no Chaos Magic, and thus ending Chthon's reign of horror. This form of magic can only be utilized by Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch who was chosen by Chthon himself to serve as his avatar upon his advent back to the earthly plane.
This is good and pretty accurate but when you said that Wanda was the only one who can utilize Chaos magic, doesn’t Wiccan (Billy Kaplan) Wanda son uses Chaos magic as that has been stated in the comics that he does uses that magic
@@ryansweezey1451 Wiccan is not confirmed yet if he has Chaos Magic, not from the comics I have read, or does it says in OHOTMU. He does have the same reality altering powers as Wanda BUT it has never confirmed that he also possess Chaos Magic specifically. So, at the moment the only confirmed beings capable of manipulating Chaos Magic are Chthon and Wanda.

In the comics, tho Dr strange debunked that chaos magic is real, he has used it several times, one where he used it to return his power level to its original level.
@@crunchynapkin71 Actually no, the magic he used to restore his powers back in Doctor Strange Sorcerer Supreme #80 is referred to as Catastrophe Magic, it is basically the same form of magic he learned from The Book of the Vishanti only with varying outcome. It has similarities with Chaos Magic, the only difference is that this form of magic didn't come from Chthon which means it does not have the corrupting properties of true Chaos Magic like Wanda's not does it have the same level of scale and power when used.

His magic is kind of like asgard magic. While wanda has kind of like Cthonic magic. Those 2 are very different things. Also wiccan never used chaos magic before. He cant manipulate it as far as the comics go.
Wanda now has access to unlimited powers from the Darkhold, which makes her even stronger from her reality warping chaos magic. This amplifies her already powerful magic together with the piece of the mind stone inside of her. The Scarlet Witch is literally a nexus being capable of rewriting reality on a universal scale, access to multiple dimensions, manipulate probability to her favour, and transmute matter including Thor’s lightning. Her chaos magic exceeds that of even the Sorcerer Supreme.
I'm not sure how to feel about the "magic is just advanced science" bc on one hand I want magic explained to be able to understand it but on the other I want magic to remain mysterious, something without explanation

If something demonstrably exists and can produce repeatable results, then it is technically a "science", even if you call it "magic". The whole idea that magic and science are separate things was really a creation of religious traditions that forced scientists to denounce anything that the church deemed "unnatural".
Wanda is probably the strongest and most feared avenger and hero in the entire MCU. I loved here the minute she showed up on screen.
I think base/regular magic is blue(the witches/billy) Wanda's is red because of chaos magic agtahas is purple because of dark magic and dr strange uses eldritch magic(orange/sparks)

I'd say there are different types of magic in the MCU... not just simplifying it down to 4 basic color types... Asgardian magic (practiced by Frigga), another type of Asgardian magic (practiced by Loki, Sylvie, variant Lokis), ANOTHER type of Asgardian magic (practiced by Odin, Heimdall), magic practiced by Kaecilius and his zealots, Eldritch magic, the Salem witches magic, Agatha's magic, and Wanda's magic... much more complicated than just red, purple, blue, and orange magics lmao. And I don't even think Billy has magic... I think it's just psionic abilities lmao
@@midnights1389 I didn't say there were only 4 types of magic I was just associating magic to colors I observed dark magic like Agatha's is usually depicted as purple we know eldritch magic is orange and has sparks ect I also noticed most people with different colored magic is different for a reason like Wanda's is red because it's chaos magic Agatha's because it's dark magic and Kacelius still used eldritch magic he was just stronger because he drew power from the dark dimension and if you've read the comics you'd know Billie has magic I'm not sure about any psionic abilities though

Chaos magic in comics are the strongest, but also hard to control. I mean it makes sense why its hard to control. Not needing to mumble out the spell or needing special hand signs is what makes her stronger witch than others. On top of that chaos magic is limitless
I can see 2 types of magic user here:
- Witches or people who born with magic power/ability
- Normal people who can learn to draw(from another source) power and perform magic to cast a spell
This is only my opinion tho.. haha!

Agatha Harkness might be the strongest other than Wanda. She's the longest living witch we know and she has possesed the Darkhold and she has the knowledge to everything about magic and had been practicing for centuries
I agree and disagree with that. I personally consider the Netflix and Hulu TV shows as headcanon of the MCU, so Morgan Le Fay is also one of the oldest and most powerful witches.
Strange is still more powerful. He fought 4 stone Thanos for crying out loud. He's also the sorcerer supreme and based on Agatha saying Wanda is more powerful than the sorcerer supreme she might consider herself below them

In my opinion Feige is working on a general framework of magic for the MCU currently. This is shown by the fact that Loki in the new Disney+ series also channels green energy at his hands when using magic in the same way as all other magic users we know from Wandervision. In his previous appearences his use of magic was not depicted in that way. So maybe we will be shown a general theory of magic in the future.

I agree, I want Lyrica Okano and Elizabeth Hurley back in the MCU. The Staff of One is a really interesting tool and Morgan has been in the Dark Dimension, so she might have connections with Dormammu and his niece, Clea (who I really hope we’ll see in the MCU as she’s Doctor Strange’s wife)

Loki's magic is a variation of asgardian magic of his mother, Frigga, in norse mithology Frigga is from Vanaheim, and the magic over there is kinda different with different propierties, that's why it is green in the MCU.
You should talk about the different kind of magic in the 9 realms, obviously, when you get the needed information too.
Also, there is the egypcian and roman magic with their respective gods and mythology, for example, Zeus (which will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder as a cameo), or Khonshu (which will appear in Moonlight).

Tbh I have the same doubt. I think they will clarify it in Multiverse of Madness. Head writer of WandaVision said they were going to mention the Chaos Dimension, but they didn’t because it wasn’t necessary. I think that’s the source of her powers and they decided to keep it for Doctor Strange 2. Agatha and other witches may harness energy from the another dimension.
Agatha is channeling the energy from things like fear,death,sadness,pain,and sacrifice.Wanda is just her own powerhouse which is wired because she generates enough power to reshape existence to her will.It scares dr strange because he’s not native to this idea of forming infinite power from within.

To answer your question, we can use the comics as possible basis.
Eldritch Magic or Exocentric Magic in the comics is a form of magic achieved by invoking an extradimensional mystical being to empower one's spell like the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, or the Flames of the Faltine, or the Shields of the Seraphim, or the Images of Ikkon or the Light of Omnipotent Oshtur, etc. These beings can either be benevolent or manevolent, but regardless of their nature, these beings usually grant their powers to those who invoke them, serving as a sort of patrons.
Dark Magic or Necromantic Magic in the comics like what Agatha uses in the MCU is based on the teachings found in the Darkhold. This is usually facilitated through the extermination of a living being's life force along with pain, anguish and fear, which grants immense powers (but usually corrupts one's soul in return). This can also be used through human sacrifices, blood rituals and in extreme cases, ritual cannibalism such as what the sorcerer Kulan Gath uses. That is the reason why Agatha took the Life forces of the other witches in her coven during the Salem Witch Trials.
Chaos Magic is different as it is not invoked like Eldritch Magic but rather, it is already given to someone. The Elder God Chthon gave Wanda a portion of his own power (Chaos Magic) when she was born. This allowed her to given free access to that powersource without any caveats.
I think Wanda is using/generating her own magic, and maybe Agatha and the Salem witches too. The magic of The Ancient One is a different type of magic that requires a totally different use! It's as if they don't have the magic in them, but they call it, and it comes to them. Wanda's magic surely comes from another dimension, but she generates her own magic in my opinion.

Space magic its for teleportation, weaponry. It can be used to power asgardian swords/sheild or ironman robotic heart and machines. Even the Nazis used it as energy weapons.

The Infinity Stones aren't really "magic", they're more cosmic energy. In Marvel there's a difference between magic and cosmic energies. Galactus and Silver Surfer who possesses the "Power Cosmic", aren't magical at all.

Phase 4 is essentially the phase of "okay now that we've killed off some of the weaker/less powerful heroes we can start using the big guns" (thor, WANDA, dr strange, monica, etc.)
Don't forget the Eternals. The stakes are also much higher (universal threat Thanos to the multiversal threats Kang and the Celestials)

All Marvel magic could be united under the definition: "Forces from unknown sources with unspecified limitations, wielded by various beings using different techniques." Any magic is science we don't understand yet, because science is just the study of forces (causes and effects) that can be measured and categorised, in any universe. However you look at it, magic is awesome because anything is possible - just as long as not EVERYTHING is possible and there are rules rigid enough for magic to feel consequential, but flexible and flowing enough to feel...like magic.
It's also more interesting than regular technology based power because it often tends to be tied to emotion, enabling the wielder to determine the limits of their own power depending on the strength of their spirit; if a heart is pure, so is their magic, and if it is corrupt, the magic is tainted and twisted.

Well... His magic isn't that strong without knowledge tbh. The only reason he's actually powerful (in the movies at least) is because he was educated. I mean, you can't cast a portal if you don't know how to lol. And I don't think he could lose control of his power. It's not an explosive-lose-my-mind-chaos-and-destruction type of magic like Wanda's.

Eldritch Magic user may not have that much magical energy of their own at hand but by making this deals with extra-dimensional beings they can get a temporary loan of energy. The more powerful the dimensional being is or the more power given, the more powerful the users spell is.
This is what I meant by broken. It has no limit but plot.

I wonder if Wanda will be both a witch and a sorceress so she can use both Eldritch and Chaos magic. Sorcerers are the ones that use eldritch magic they can be both male and female, their magic is yellow and forms patterns and shapes. Witches are female like Agatha and her coven their magic is just displayed by colors of glowing energy around their hands but no shapes. Blue for "regular" witches but purple for Agatha. Chaos magic is just regular magic expect it's way more powerful and red. The reason I wonder if Wanda will be both is bc Kevin Feige said that Wanda is using Doctor Strange's type of magic except since she's not trained that's why it didn't form the shapes and patterns so will they like merge her into a witch sorceress?
Also Billy is definitely going to return bc of Young Avengers would he be a wizard or a warlock?
In the second post-credit scene it looks like Wanda learned to form patterns and Tao Mandalas. I think Chaos Magic itself has aspects of both Witch Magic and Eldritch Magic.

Is Asgardian Dark Magic a thing? It's doesnt really look like any others and seems powerful. They use it to summon the bifrost, enhance their weapons and Odin used it to transform Thor (a god) into a normal human with no effort. AND on top of that he basically copies and pastes the god of thunder's power in to a hammer that can make anyone into a second god of thunder if they basically can pass the most simple and effective test just by holding it...

Dr. Strange Sorcery yellow/gold tied to mind and spirit
Wanda Chaos red tied to Reality
Agatha Dark magic purple tied to the power stone
Loki green magic tied to time (loki series may give hints)
Witch/Wiccan magic Blue ties to Space stone,

I'm looking forward to seeing Dr.Strange 2 introduce Brother Voodoo and Clea. And when we get to the Xmen, Storm is a low level magic user and I really want to see a live action Selene aka The Black Queen of the Hellfire club.

So far as we've seen basically Agatha's magic is trampling other peoples magic like despite how strong a magic spell is she can take it or manipulate that magic spell on her will as she did in WandaVision when she took the witches power and when she mess around inside Wanda's Hex.

I see comments about people saying that Dr. Strange would beat Wanda. And they keep bringing up thanos and how Strange was beating him with 4 infinity stones. Did y’all forget that in Infinity War Wanda held back Thanos with ONE hand and the other was breaking a stone??? Thanos also had 4 stones in that scene but Wanda held him back while still producing enough power to break an infinity stone. Stop playing with Wanda, she’s a bad ass and don’t forget it. EDIT: Also Wanda’s magic far exceeds the Sorceress Supreme. Isn’t she the one that was teaching Strange? Yeah thought so.
