Line and Wash Black Capped Chickadee. Great for begginers in Wildlife painting

- Another Cold Press paper experiment from the Hot Press paper fan.
One of my favorite little birds, the Black Capped Chickadee.
MATERIALS
PEN: Pigma Micron pen, 005 nib
PAPER: Arches 140lb, cold press, pure cotton rag paper. I normally use Hot Press paper so this is somewhat of a learning experience for me as well.
MY PALETTE:
Winsor newton- Yellow Ochre, Sepia, Burnt Sienna, Winsor Red, Davy's Gray, Ultramarine, Sap Green.
DaVinci - Phthalo Blue, Quinachridone Fuchsia, Cadmium Yellow Lemon, Cadmium Yellow Deep.
BRUSH:
A Polar Flo 1/2 inch flat brush is my current favorite. The bristle were originally white but have become stained. I often use inexpensive brushes because several of my techniques are quite abusive. If the brush disappears from the screen, it is either being wiped off or rinsed.

I can’t believe you did all that with a half inch brush, especially when you went into the eye. I would have broken out my small detail brushes for sure. Great job.

I really enjoy how nice a simple ink drawing and wash turns out! On this particular painting , I cant help but see the brown background looking like a bird, riding backwards on the chickadees back. lol

Nice one Peter. Davy's Grey is a bold move indeed. I have never tried it because I think it has white in it, but you used it in such a way that was very transparent. Always a pleasure to watch you. Your confidence shows indeed.

I assume it's got something to do with things that has happend recently in my life. If I'm sad, I get frustrated, then the coordination with the hand and mind stumbles... 😪
On the other hand - painting and drawing relieves stress. Maybe art gives a satisfaction that comes from doing with your hands... 🙂💛
