I just want to say thank you a thousand times to dj shiftee for taking the time to break this amazing scratch down I have watched countless videos on youtube about how to crab scratch asked people where to go to learn scratching and nothing has helped me up until i found this video i wathced this video once before work practiced it for 15 minutes almost got it then came home from work watched it one more time then suddenly i got it I must have been crab scratching for 2 hours straight!!

Crabs are probably my favorite kind of scratch.
Use the sharpest curve on your mixer. On the rane mixers, it's "FAST" or all the way way to the right depending on the mixer. Pioneer mixers, you want the one that looks like a table. Pretty much you want full sound as soon as you move the crossfader the slightest amount.

thanks. Any song with clean (not blocked by other instruments) vocals/sound fx, acappellas, scratch/break records designed for turntablists (dirtystyle, thudrumble, super duck breaks, scratch science, le jad, a-trak & craze, etc), but really anything you think of can be used for scratching.

What do you mean? If you haven't already, turn your crossfader contour all the way to the right for the sharpest cuts possible.
does the slope on the fader need to be zeroed out, i have too much fade and not enough cut? whats the best mixer for this or can i fix this on my numark?
Im so confused this is so difficult :( is it okay to start it with the fader closed or is that totally wrong?

Man I’m so close to getting the scratch down but I’m having issues with starting with the fader on or off and then leaving the scratch with it on just doesn’t sound as clean this is hard
one question, is your turntable in reverse? if the cross fader is on right left vinyl is playing?

Any chance your scratching tutorials will work with Digital Midi DJ Controllers? (Such as Hercules RMX, Vestax VCI series, etc.)

I've spent years try to learn how to do this. If you have a stiff thumb the level of difficulty is Nintendo god mode hard, as in damn near impossible.

its called crab scratch because qbert had a name sound like crepe but it turned out crab . :)
