  • About this series:Welcome to the University of Kentucky course AEN/TSM 220: Principles of Internal Combustion Engines. These videos were created by Dr. Tim Stombaugh during COVID instruction protocols to facilitate hybrid teaching of the course. Students watched the videos before meeting in smaller groups to discuss the content and answer questions. The videos are being shared to offer an additional resource for other instructors and students to use in engines course instruction activities. Dr. Tim Stombaugh has been a faculty member at the University of Kentucky since 2000 and has conducted extension, research, and instruction activities in a variety of areas related to machine systems and automation. He welcomes feedback on how the videos are being utilized and suggestions for new resources. A short description of each video is provided to assist instructors.

Does a riding lawnmower have an accelerator pedal?

Yes, it's attached to the thing referred to here as the "operating lever spring". Pressing on it increases the spring tension on the spring which opposes the governor trying to close the throttle.
