I second this, the only thing that makes Squiddy worth to get is it's safe to carry to the airport and travel, but if you willing to spend a bit more, you can get other versions which actually has weight and some grip to it, I am a complete beginner but I agree that Squiddy is not good as the very first balisong, rather a fun toy for experience flippers.
The squiddy definitely needs the eye weights mode to be usable, but once you do it becomes pretty good as a travel bali since you can go through airport security with it. I just use brass grub screws (size M5 x 4mm) and they just screw right in. But yeah the Canyon is probably a better starting place if you don't care about flying and also don't mind getting stabbed when learning aerials
Just ordered one based on this video and example shown alone. Appreciated! Too bad you didn't get commission for it but here... take this like and a sub instead. The knife looks perfectly acceptable with looks, balance, weight and has a nice sound to it too. I'll look forward to trying this one out. Thank you. I've had a blemished white Squiddy for a while now but the balance just isn't quite right with it for a lot of tricks I've tried to do. Especially like the one you showed in the video here with the spin with the handle and blade. I have loads of trouble trying to do that with it. Couldn't get the tension of the handles and blade right enough to make that any easier, so instead I opted for a slightly looser fit, just enough to where it doesn't bind at all.
To new flippers, nowadays there are fair alternatives to buying clones for the same price point. That clone replicant is about 90 bucks, use that money on an orion v1.5. They flip very well, come with the trainer and live blade as well as replacement hardware, and youd be supporting a real maker. We're pretty past the point of assuming clones are the way to go if you dont have money, just look around a little and youll find something nice and real. Great video btw 👍
I don’t think the 1.5 comes with both blades I know it has the option for either one but I don’t think it comes with both but I don’t really know maybe if you pay more or something
If you wont do it on your own something has to force you in understanding how grossly overpriced all these knifes are, and if you ask me all "real makers" should reconsider they're pricing. I am truly sorry but some monumental BS like 800$ - 1000$ - 1200$ for a balisong? 😅 u better believe i'm getting a clone an exact replica of that same knife for 60-150$ bucks and it's gonna flip the same if not better
@@m0rtredmy point exactly people always bring up supporting “real makers” and don’t get me wrong I want to but they need to tether their prices better Until then I’m buying clones and people who shame people for buying clones are wrong and turn people off for, the community at the end of the day it’s your money
Nice work on the video, I do agree somewhat with buying a live blade instead of a trainer however I do think if the trainer does punish you enough to let you know when you do something wrong it may not be to bad having a trainer, mostly something like the prysma pro where it for me at least digs into my finger, but overall live blades can definitely do more
I don't like the Squiddy either I sold mine. I purchased the Black Squiddy-B and it flips way better than the regular white Squiddy. I plan on getting the Canyon also 🔥
only clone id recommend to beginners would be the armed shark v3 kraken trainer clones. theyre very good for the price. but the canyon is insane value and id recommend it for sure over clones. durable as hell for beginners that are gonna drop the hell out of the knife
Armed shark rep has good bushings. Mine came with no tap. If youre gonna get a rep clone, get an armed shark as opposed to baliplus. You can mod the AS version just like the baliplus and they sell carbon fiber channel spacers too.
If you're getting a clone, you should always be ready to sand bushings, replace hardware, etc. Only unless you are getting from armed shark. As far as I have heard, armed shark is almost always on par with the real thing.
@hamza-qm7xt pretty much. Armed shark has never missed for me. I like my real stuff too but I wasn't about to drop no damn 400 on a fuckin rep that costed 250 back in the day. Fuck that
@@LuciferArc1 I wouldn't really know. I am still in my ccc phase and dont see myself getting a good one anytime soon. But 250?, really?. That is less than a kraken today.
The pinless design does not work as well on many other balisongs of different materials. But this is a blade of very hard material hitting against a handle of an equally very hard material. So handle slap is just not possible.(Steel is harder than titanium btw)
@@hamza-qm7xthe was talking about the canyon's handle open gap that differs from each other. If you see the unboxing video of nabalis canyon the silver one has a wider handle open gap compared to the black one.
@@daaye2x I had got the trainer version and it's a bit more on the handle biased than the false life blade, it has comfortable grip with nice gimping on the higher of the handle that really helps with rollovers, it caplons AMAZINGLY it, my only gripes so far is when I'm going for chocker fans I notice it wanting to fall out my hands at times but it's alright you get used to it, it's a good beater. And since the handles are mostly skeletonized you don't really hear a ring it's pretty muted, but it goes have a really satisfying bounce
"dont buy a squiddy". Honestly, dont buy a squiddy A. The balance and weight distribution of the squiddy b is often just straight up better than even some 300-500$ knives i own :p
i absolutely hated my squiddy, most overhyped bali out. traded for a lucha lol
preach brother, PREACH ! 😄

Honestly trainers are not a good way to learn in my opinion. If you flip a trainer with no repercussions then flip a live blade you will pay in blood.
I appreciate the info my man. I'm getting back into flipping, and trying to see what's available these days.
got here from the balisong flipping canyon video, you made a lot of great points :)
Thanks man! I'll be making more videos in the future and they will be better

The Canyon is dangerously based. Got mine last week. I agree about the sharp pointy blade. It's brutal and makes aerials a dangerous game.

The armed shark rep clone holds up to a beating better and can be modded to your preference as you learn. Plus brs price gouges their shit anyway.

I got you. Video coming out tomorrow
i have a squiddy b and i love it
I have a kraken clone and wanna get a vulp pro and a vulp pro false edge
