I’d really wish Namadicus had made it to the modern day, just to see a living land animal so massive would be awe inspiring

Real shit man!
There's an insane number of Animals larger than it lmao
Such majestic creatures, so sad we never going to see them alive
@@prehistoriccreature1800
we're talking about animals that aren't aquatic and aren't dinos.
“Humans came across the animal often,” is such a profound statement. It’s hard to realize what others perceived, that which I’m unable to today. But there will always be humans unable to perceive what past humans once could. Same for the reverse. Time is weird.
Imagine if you could have a pet Elephant the size of a cow.
I think that's the norm, in a way the past is all within us and makes who we are today.
Especially when the time that has passed is the same as the time passed from when the Egyptian pyramids were built until now, five times in a row.
It's not like we left paintings in caves or anything.... Oh wait....
The " Olimphants" from the Lord of the Rings are based on another giant extinct elephant, Stegotetrabelodon.

The entire elephant family are easily my favorite animals ever. I have seen and riden elephants before, but I it's still hard to imagine that the remaining elephant species today were pipsqueaks compared to some of their ancient relatives. Really great job!
Same with rhinoceros and Paraceratherium
When I try to imagine the size of something that much bigger it's like my brain can't grasp it. I've stood next to an elephant and can't imagine them being any bigger.
@@rsp7029 I've seen and held sloths in south America, now imagine the difference to a Megatherium
Imagine riding an elephant that gets beat everyday and suffers as a slave you suck
not even really "ancient" modern elephants lived at the same time as these giants, Namadicus only went extinct 30,000 years ago
When we went to Malta for our honeymoon, we were given a tour of caves that had the bones of dwarf elephants, rhinos and deer. It was super-interesting to see the excavations going on in the caves.
Ghar Dalam (Dalam cave) is the most popular fossils site of Malta. Often going there for holidays every time I dedicate a visit on this incredible place

Why yes, I'd like a pet dwarf elephant. It'll be an effective lawnmower.
Then you'll love ponies.
Plus it's crap will keep the lawn green and cut back on trips to the garden center.
Not to mention it will get lots of ooohs and ahhs when walking it on a leash like a dog.
I get lots of attention from walking my pet Fox on a leash

Modern elephant... Smithonian Museum.
Our 11-ton African elephant has graced the Museum’s Rotunda since 1959.
So you are wrong. Fact is that the last living modern elephants are smaller ones reaching only around 7tons.
Great video on this fascinating elephant!
Thanks man, we should work togethor sometime!
I like it, when one CZcamsr aplauds an other CZcamsr. You two should do a video together.
We need to find a way to bring back mini elephants.
I wanna pet it
Imagine a bull P. namadicus in musth.
That’d be a truly terrifying sight.
A 16-17 foot tall, 22 ton tank on four legs.
The destruction that thing would leave behind would be catastrophic.
So true!
1) It's only like 10-15 tonnes
2) There's several Animals that would have been far more dangerous and "catastrophic" than that
Prehistoric Creature only sauropod dinosaurs and whales but we are talking about land mammals

I love these videos and they make me very interested in how things lived and interacted with eachother
It’s amazing that this animal is closer related to the African elephant and lived in Asia and it rivals some species of sauropods and of course I’m talking about Paleoxodon nam

stepp mammoth and deinotherium also were both bigger than some sauropods ,if you include largest specimens of which both were 14-15ft high and 15tons ...
If they were alive it would be scary seeing them at night
It's a giant elephant, yet not many people on CZcams talk or know about this creature. Kinda sad. Anyway, gmthank you.
why should they talk about this animal specifically?
Probably because it doesn’t exist anymore? Lmao
Because it was made up,

My favorite prehistoric proboscid! Even t rex would avoid this beast if it lived alongside it
Yeah, it would see it as a Giant Mammalian Triceratops bigger than itself.🤣
12:00 Also, keep in mind, an injury even as minor today as a broken bone could prove lethal in the stone age.
And even if the injury doesn't kill you outright, it could permanently disable you.
While humans probably had occasional trials hinting very large animals, they would have stuck to hunting more manageable prey on a regular basis.
Excellent, and from north02 I expect nothing less.
Yes... I'm so glad you did a video on this amazing creature.
Thank you for this video! I love hearing about Prehistoric animals especially ones that are not well known or mainstream.
I've encountered some Palaeoloxodon vids and you earned a high spot NORTH.
The work you do is extremely appreciated.. I'm here to consume all of it. That is all I wanted to say.
Modern elephants seem to have survived the same dangers, including "hungry humans", that palaeoloxodon may have experienced. But they stayed in subtropic and tropic regions of the world. So, North 02, what do you think finally killed off animals like palaeoloxodon whose morphologies resemble modern extant versions of african and asian elephants? Great report by the way!
I just found out about your channel yesterday, and I love it. So much interesting knowledge, and to top it off, youve got a really nice relaxing voice man. Keep up the great work :D
Thank you so much for covering this group of elephants...this is by far the most comprehensive and best source for them on CZcams by far.
To think - P. Namidicus was more than twice as massive as T Rex!!
Great episode, you have a great voice and diction. Thank you!
True, that’s why it was not a preferred hunt to catch, one time when watching a walking with beasts special The Beast Within, it talked about us n the primates on why we didn’t preferred hunting such big beasts. In a part of the episode, a professor mentioned what animals our ancestors preferred to hunt for food, they mostly would rather hunt smaller deer 🦌, wild cattle 🐃, wild horse 🐎, wild pig 🐗 and anything that was simple to kill for food. Something so interesting to share, again thanx!
Thank you for finally doing the Paleoloxodon !
Great video! Thank you
amazing video keep up the great work 👍🙏
Great video dude! Need more content like this on youtube
I remember hearing somewhere that there was some evidence that paleoxodon was around as late as early chinese civilization by what evidence has been gathered from artifacts that look different from the asian elephants in present day china
This was a great North 02 video on the largest land mammal to ever exist, also hope your day is going great.
I knew Palaeoloxodon is gonna be a thing on YT now
I'm so happy you mention oliphants, the biggest palaeoloxodon was basically our real life version of them.
Holy Olimphants you got this video out fast! Well done, ser, WELL done!

Thanks for mentioning Malta, our island archipelago never gets enough credit

north. i been watching all you vids... hope we dont run out them.ha ..keep up the great work..cant wait to watch the next......
Thank you, as always
Can you imagine it we had domesticated the dwarf elephants?
I live in a rural area and, in a slightly different world, could have had not just horses and cattle nearby, but pony-elephants too.
They'd cost a lot and wouldn't be of much use. Humans don't consume elephant milk, they don't have fur that can be used to make products and eating an elephant would be abomination
@@BigBrotherTheWatcher1984 Why would eating elephants "be abomination"?
Members of various hominid species have been eating various types of elephants for as long as we've had the capability to make hunting weapons.
I really enjoyed this video, what an amazing animal...
Vert nice discussion. It is interesting to hear how recently they were alive compared to early man.
I'm sorry, I keep forgetting to like the videos, I'll try my best to show more support, your content is amazing!!
Aww yeah! Palaeoloxodon video!
For anyone confused, Great Britain is the largest island of the British Isles. In this context the CC is using GB correctly.
Again great video , bro. Now I'm gonna watch Paraceratherium video of urs 😃👍.
Thanks that was cool

Yo saw ur insta comment on a post so essentially saw this vid coming early, great as always
For some reason I really like when dwarf elephants (or pocket elephants as I call them) are reconstructed with fur. Make them look even more cute and cuddly.
Can you make some more videos about the terror birds please. If you can’t I understand. Thank you for all the excellent knowledge and content.
Nice, a very underrated taxon! For namadicus, the 5.2m estimate is Asier’s revision in 2016 as he believes the proportions were more like recki, and that the 5m estimate from 2016 was too low relative to weight. There’s also some alleged remains of very large (more than 15 tonnes) P.antiquus specimens, but they’re debatable atm.
your right, iv read the docs about all this, and one report comes to mind ,that is a huge skull at least 15% bigger than the other large paleoxodon was left embedded in rock back in the early 1900s .eofauna researchers also speculate that the bones of the largest paleoxodon would be somewhere in the Calcutta museum of paleontology storage rooms...
This is so awesome
Fascinating!
What I realized a while ago is that life was as diverse in prehistoric time as it is today - only bigger (and, in relation to what Joe Average is used to seeing, probably stranger).
Nice video on the largest land mammal! Anyways, can you do liopleurodon - ancient animal and orca - amazing animal?
Man seeing it compared to the lord of the rings elephant really puts it into perspective...
Love it 😊
I'm not sure what would be more impressive to see, a giant elephant or a tiny elephant
Both would be amazing to see together.
@@CarlosAlberto-nq3iv yeah but there's just something about a tiny elephant that my mind can't process lmao
Imagine a Trex attacking the largest Palaeoloxodon, a sight to behold
Rex gets smashed.
Yea it would be a cool fight. Palaeoloxodon is quite a bit larger so t rex would probably get intimidated. And it could run it over. The t rex on the other hand has its powerful bite that can really damage the elephant if it can dodge the tusks. It could go either way.
Palaeoloxodon could beat any theropod
Would you please do a video covering the carboniferous Era? Really want to hear you talk about giant, terrifying insects. Thank u senpai
This is so interesting..I love this.I never new a elephant 🐘 of such a petite size excited ..Thank you
Great content and I love your voice
imagine if the dwarf elephant had been widely domesticated and used for agricultural purposes english knights mounted on personal sized battle elephants
What use would be they? They are slow, a buffalo would been a better mount
@@shakuntlarishi8197 we aren't talking about full size asian elephants. dwarf elephants are not slow. plus they have lances growing out of their face. they are smarter than horses and would bond with the rider better than any other mount. paired with a rot and you would almost not have to post a watch.
Excellent video. Though I am surprised that there was only 4 species of dwarf Mediterranean PLs. Were there different elephant genuses on the other islands?

Scientists naming ancient animals: Palaeoloxodon, Tyranasaurus Rex, Titanoboa
Today: Duck, Pig, Chicken
They do have scientific names in latin
Sometimes I wish aliens were real. It be cool if they have a Prehistoric Zoo of all fauna that has ever existed..
I think there is a site in Canada where they chased mammoths off cliffs.
I know they roamed over western Canada , but never heard of a kill site in Canada
You're thinking of the southwestern US, a site in what's now Pasadena. The PPD chased the rock band "Mammoth" off a cliff for rockin' too hard. The band survived and escaped, but had to change their name to Van Halen, to avoid further prosecution. Hope this helps!
"Actually just kidding Alexander could never lose a battle."
Well said NORTH 02! 😃
I am making a game where you go back in prehistory as a human and do research on creatures, there is a entire campaign dedicated to the Mediterranean islands of the Pleistocene, called the Islands of Death, and I have grown to love the dwarf elephant species.
These giants were domesticated in Asia. Read some of the ancient accounts of the war elephants used by some Asian kingdoms. They were described as being too large to match the size of modern day Asian elephants.
“Look Mister Frodo! An Oliphaunt!”
Epiccc
Once again, your vivid imagination continues to delight me! Megalodon being extinct was fortuitous to swimming elephants, hominids being pulverized by Biblical level floods, etc etc.
I still want you to make an entire video filled with your musings. You have a creative mind
"Look at this boffo with his imagination, he believes at god" What a joke you are.
Your the one with creative imagination saying things like "god created earth" or "it's all a lie, the flooding killed the dinosaurs"

A video about nimravids would go pretty hard
I wonder how big a 22 ton elephant was at birth. Elephants that size could have been the size of a lion at birth. This elephant could have been useful in war.
Palaeloxodon is the extinct genus of the giant prehistoric elephant and was similar to the famous extinct Woolly Mammoth and the modern African Elephant 🐘
Lmao
Wooly mammoth's closer relative is Indian elephant

Can you do a video about the Nimravidae, also known as the false saber-toothed cats
Ah yes the age-old question
What would you rather fight, a goose sized elephant or an elephant sized goose?
Or alternately. would you rather fight an elephant sized sauropod or a sauropod sized elephant?
sauropod sized elephant because it would just collapse under its own weight due to having no adaptions to being that size
@@ElZilchoYo Are you telling me that when an object undergoes a proportional increase in size, its new Surface area is proportional to the square of the multiplier and its new volume is proportional to the cube of the multiplier?
Yeah I think we've all had enough of you and *you'er* pseudoscience bullshit!
XD
@@VictorianTimeTraveler no like sauropod had air pockets in their bones similar to birds which allowed them to be huge without collapsing, as they would if their bones were just solid like an upscaled elephant would be.

Another excellent video! I couldn't believe how tiny that one pygmy species was, I never knew they could be that small. Very cool!
Let's bring them back!😎😁
I noticed some background noise in your narration. That can be eliminated with Audacity. Audacity is a free multi-track audio editor and recorder. It has recently been bought out by a Russian company. That has raised some concerns but I would check it out. There are certainly other audio editors that can do the same thing.
