Nearly 50 years later I still love listening to these tunes by the Doobies, I never tire of hearing them
He came to the Doobies looking for Michael McDonald and found the classics before Michael. ❤️
If I was a betting person, I would bet all my money that Harri played this again when he finished his reaction and danced his feet off. Go Harri go.
Your next Doobie Brothers station should be song "Jesus Is Just Alright".
@@b1bmsgt not, on the contrary, the amount of good music he will hear will only prolong and enrich his life.
Next by the Doobies: "China Grove" for a rocker, or "South City Midnight Lady" for mood piece.
As a guitarist and vocalist with The Doobie Brothers, Tom Johnston wrote the kind of joyful rock that is truly classic: "Listen To The Music," "China Grove," "Long Train Runnin'" and so much more. In 1975, an illness forced him to take some time off, which is when Michael McDonald joined the group.
The official video of "Long Train Running" is great with the trains spouting steam like the old West. Can't see it enough.
Tiran Porter on bass is a wonder!
Yes!!! He may not get any notoriety on the "great bassists" lists, but he should!!! Tiran Porter was all over that bass with original, irresistible and unforgettable lines!!! 💖💖💖👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Tom Johnston has such a great voice. Very unique. He's one of the great lead singers in rock.
without a doubt a gifted voice. not another like him. Saw them at Bethel Woods a few years ago and still brings it.
There is no other song like it.This era of music will never come again. So enjoyable.
Love early Doobie Bros! Your reactions are a joy. Thanks for realising the artistry of music I grew up listening to.
Yeah! That guitar intro and then the bass kicking in. So smooth. So funky.
That's what I love about China Grove! The starting guitar strum is just fabulous.
I grew up with them!!! They are great, aren’t they? I have SO many memories attached to The Doobie Brothers.
It’s always great to see someone really enjoying themselves while listening to good music
Go Harri, love the way you really get into the music. The Doobies were so huge back in the 70's, such a great band.
Tiron Porter killing it on that bass!
That is what you call a TIGHT HARMONY!!!
Now that's my kind of reaction!!!
Yep. It was an outstanding, well-produced album with several hits and plenty of tasty deeper cuts. Next do China Grove, South City Midnight Lady, Rockin' Down The Highway, Dark Eyed Cajun Woman, Another Park Another Sunday, and Jesus Is Just Alright. All are pre-Michael McDonald.
Dark Eyed Cajun Woman...my absolute favorite by them....The best are all pre McDonald.....Never liked the guy...
Check out "South City Midnight Lady" beautiful!!! peace and love
Wish I could give this 100 thumbs up! Your reaction is 🔥! Doobies are phenomenal, nice to watch you discover them.
Harri stop it...you're killing me!!! I love me some Doobie Brothers. You just put a big smile on my 65 year old face.Happy cake day...keep up the good work brother.😁
I enjoy watching reactions to the music I grew up with in the 70’s.
Another great Doobie Brothers song! Love it!
I wouldn't be anywhere without love
Their early-'70s hit "China Grove" has that same chucka-chuka guitar sound.
Best Michael McDonald Doobie Brothers "What a Fool Believes"
Man the Doobie Brothers are an American Institution. Hugely influential and was a staple of the 70s soundtrack. They have a ridiculous amount of fun, groovy music. Up there with the Eagles.
Been listening to the doobies since 1975, this is probably my favorite of many great tunes they have
Yes this is a big song back in the day and we love you too Harri.
Must listen to: Jesus Is Just Alright. It’ll blow you away even more.
I just love the early Doobie Brothers. Soundtrack of my high school years! I saw them in concert in the 70's two nights in a row (once just wasn't enough). Almost 30 years later to the day, I took my son to see them. It was very special.
Grew up in the 70s......never ever get tired of this song.
Some of the original brothers (and a different bass player) put out some really fun versions of Listen to the Music and Black Water, Covid style. Called Doobies in isolation. Fun stuff!
Tiran Porter is that masterful bass player. 🤩
All them great Doobie songs. Don't stop before you get to China Grove.
The bass drives this song and the last one.
I got to see them live in 1979!
Great reaction! Such joy!
Awe, you've been Doobied! Great job and you're a joy to watch!
The pride of San Jose, CA. Still going strong! I have seen them over the years but I remember this song my freshman year of college. Great acoustic guitar opening. Nice reaction!
Chicago, Three Dog Night and The Doobies Brothers are so diverse. Very talented!
Get up and dance brohan! I've heard this a thousand times and STILL fuckin' whip to this!
Yes get up and dance Harri!!! 💜 So glad you found these guys.........great rabbit hole to fall into.
Wow, what a total joy watching your reaction to this song!! It came out when I was sixteen, and makes me think back on how wonderful music was back then!! ❤
They NEVER DISAPPOINT!!
Ever!! And yes, you have to dance. 😂
I have always exposed my children to good food and good music. My middle sons first concert weekend was Fri the Doobie Bros and Sat was Shooter Jennings, 38 Special, and Charlie Daniel's. Hes turned out pretty good.
Thank you so much! This band is part of my life since 1970....I absolutely Loved your react, was real and honest, love you long time brother, keep on! Thanks so much!!
Doobies made your whole being want to get up and dance & sing along. They were pure magic
Wow, the doobie brothers and this song were so popular when I was early teens. Brings back memories.
Guitarist/singer Patrick Simmons wrote and sang "Black Water." Guitarist singer Tom Johnston wrote and sang "Listen to the Music" and "Long Train Runnin'." That's why they sound different. Patrick has that smoother sound and Tom has that more rockin' sound. They put out their first album in 1971 and released 5 albums (and a lot of great songs) before Michael McDonald joined in 1975.
I'm Proud To Say That There Are Many Doobies Tunes In The Soundtrack Of My Life 🎶🎸🎼💥🎸🎼🤩
My teen music :) Still awesome of course...The Doobie Brothers are greatness
You REALLY get the magnificence of this song!
It's perfection!
...and My God THE BASS!!!
Going to see them again October 28th.
Bass player along with the rest of the band is amazing.
The original band led by founder Tom Johnston! Much as I love Michael McD, Tom is the man and always will be!
That bass line! ☮️❤️👏👏
It’s pretty impossible not to dance to
The Doobie Brothers, especially this one!
Early Doobies were just about happy .... They remind me of Sly and the family Stones song Everyday People ,❤️
masters of the universe
These guys were the house band for the Hells Angels.
Their annual hospital charity work is amazing.
this is such an upbeat song that you have to move and it makes you feel great!
Love, love this reaction!!! ❤️ Thanks for keeping it real. Please continue your Doobie adventure. 🙏🏼 It’s taking me back…
Música de los 60 y 70, nunca hubo una explosión mas grande de creatividad
And the band members looking at each other doing yeah man this is going to be badass
Doobie Brothers live in concert is amazing.! They sound the same as a recording.
Wholesome reaction. Love it!!
Didn't I say the Doobie Brothers were one of _the great_ rhythm rock and roll bands of all time? Ha, ha! It is a joy to see someone your age discover how great our favourite music from our teenaged years was! 😉👌🙃💖🎶🎸😎😂
They had two drummers, plus congas. Often times three guitars and unbelievable harmonies! And like you said, Tiran Porter ought to be investigated. Or made illegal! Ha, ha, ha! Now you can understand why boomers don't listen to rap and hip hop. When you have heard the best, why settle for what is being peddled by the "industry" now? Keep in mind, that you _had_ to be able to play your instrument and sing back then. There was no Auto-tune and almost no guitar pedals, so you had to know your stuff inside out and backwards and be able to play your guitar _cleanly!_ Great reaction Harri!!!
My very first concert was when I was 16 in 1977 and it was the Doobie Brothers. Awesome concert.
This is what I grew up with. We had it good.
This was definitely one of THE dance singsong the early to mid 70s!
Without love? It sucks some days, but I have music 🎶! Not a physical cuddle, but still the ultimate comfort. The music doesn’t leave you for another. Don’t be calm! The feels, man, the feels!! ☮️❤️
This brings back so many great childhood memories. They were such a great band!!! Love your reaction.
I’m grooving right along with you!!! There are no bad Doobie Brothers songs. Love them!!
China Grove next!
I like this song all over again, from your reaction. I took for granted, how good this song is. Thanks
The best line in the world
This is the original lead singer that I love!
Oh and “clear as the driven snow” it’s so dark
They are still playing and sound just as they did in the 70s and 80s. I have tickets for 2022 for a show postponed from 2020.
Try "Southside Midnight Lady" -or "Dark Eyed Cajun Woman" - Love the Doobies!
😂The pure joy on your face! The Doobies are so great. Gotta do Jesus is Just Alright
As others have said, "China Grove" is next. And so many great album cuts beyond that.
Another great Doobies Tune! ♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
One of the best dance songs of the early to mid 70s along with China Grove.
Man! What memories these are bringing back..I miss my friends and the simple times we had, early 70's.
This one is my faaaaavoriiiiiite!!
the 70s lost... without the Doobies 😊😊
Long Train Running is in my top 5 songs of all time.
Musicians playing in cover bands from the early 70's thru the mid 80's will attest that when you needed a full dance floor, the Doobie Bros were one of the go to bands to cover. Listen to the Music Long Train Running and China Grove were can't miss songs to get up and dance.. Tom Johnson lead sings on all 3 of these songs. In1974 (Skunk Baxter) and 1975 (Michael McDonald) joined the DB's. The bands sound began to change and a whole new following subsequently developed. A dividing line between the original fans and the late bloomers was real, but always friendly. Cos everybody loved these guys. The DB's are the most successful band to come out of San Jose California. The legions of us fans, who bought those first couple albums, are quite proud that one of our of a local bands made it really REALLY BIG!! On to China Grove Hari. You are going to absolutely love it. Cheers, RNB
Great reaction and thank you for taking the time to react to a few more songs from their deep catalog of songs!
Harri , I just love your passion for the music. Great reaction, keep em coming.
After you've followed early Doobies music for awhile, the minute I hear that funky guitar strum at the beginning of one of their songs, I almost always know Tom Johnston probably has a part in it. It's sort of his signature style of playing for me.
Right on! A lot of egg head say Tom J is common, but if he were Jeff Baxter, Pay Simmons & Michael McDonald would not have stuck around.
Great reaction brother- the Doobies are phenomenal, with,, or without Michael McDonald in my opinion.
WHO is better than the 70s DOOBIE BROTHERS From the last 3 decades
Yes Harri,The Doobie Brothers are ridiculously good !
Here to Love You, Minute by Minute, Depending on You. All Micheal McDonald! All GREAT!
The 70's was jumping we all jammed on this group, I'm a black guy who grew up in the 70's jamming out to this song
Love this song too was born in 1963 and the 70's were so incredible
