This was the best elaboration on 666 I’ve ever heard, by far. And the way you two connected it with Žižek was stunning: I’ve never heard that done before, and I will never think of 666 the same way again. I am in debt to you and Wesenschau. Absolutely masterful work.

Great video! I have always wondered about the meaning of 666 in the Bible and this is by far the best explanation I’ve ever heard.
At some point in the video you mentioned the Orthodox concept of Deification. I come from a Baptist background, so I would like to ask, how does Deification in Orthodoxy differ from the ideas of Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification in Protestantism? Or are they one in the same?
Thank you for making such great content and may God continue to grant you His wisdom and power as He already has.

"[The totality of the Present is complete in its very incompleteness."
I used to hate sentences like this, but there is something about irony that I'm trying to sort out. Many people often point to the presence of irony as a criticism in itself, but the Bible is full of them as well, especially in the beatitudes so I don't dismiss irony right away. I think there is good and bad irony, but I am not sure what makes one good and the other bad. Guys like Zizek use the same kind of irony as the Bible, only inverted, but there's something beneath the irony making one good and one bad, just can't figure it out. Is it simply irrationality? Is it the absurd implications?

There is a mathematical mistake here which is common, especially in ancient philosophy & old religions. As man attempts to posit his reality without God, a margin of error always remains. This much is true. Man may not reach a complete, closed, self-referential imminent description of the all, but this does not require the all to be non-imminent. In the same way irrational numbers can be reached from the limits of sequences of rationals, the all can be reached as the limit of imminent positions. Mathematical limits admit no infinity in their definition; the limits of a set, aptly called its closure, can be imminent to the set itself, with no transcendence required. This limit of each-incomplete finite positions corresponds most to Hegel's notion of the sublation of all finite positions. The error here is to assume that the sublation of infinite finite positions must itself be infinite, which is to assume that the infinite sum of finites must itself be infinite.
This mistaken argument can be put another way: a single pushing into the margins of the all never closes knowledge of the all; nonetheless, each pushing expands the knowledge; therefore, there is no upper limit to knowing the all; therefore, the all must be infinite with respect to knowing. The mistake here is to assume that the impossibility of reaching something with finite operations upon finite operands implies that the reached-for thing is infinite, it does not. Consider the two intervals not containing their endpoints (0,1) and (0,∞). Neither contains the infinite, further no finite sequence upon either set can reach its end points. There is no finite closure of (0,∞), denoting it requires assuming an infinite point outside of all finite numbers. However the closure of (0,1) is simply the interval with its endpoints, denoted [0,1], who's elements are all finite with respect to each other. In this way, the closure of knowledge of the all requiring an impossible infinite descent into the margins does not imply the infinitude of the all itself.
The criticism isn't fully fleshed out and I would have liked to make the bridge to mathematics stronger, but I hope its direction is taken. I reckon the mistake is common because the formalisation of limits is a historical rarity and their philosophical application is even rarer still. Those who wrote the Torah certainly would not have had access to this and so the error is fully understandable. I think a proper understanding of calculus, especially Leibniz's formulation, is indispensible to these kinds of discussions about infinitude. In any case, the video was great! It gave me a lot to think about and I hope to see more like it. I suppose I may remain an agent of the antichrist to you and so in the best faith possible I say may we bask in our damnation and 666!

For zizek isnt the subject in its impossibility the point which disrupts ideological interpellation? The implication would be that political emancipation rests on the impossibility remaining so (the subject remaining absoloute etc.). If i have gotten this correct then the question i would be most curios about is: What are the implications of your thesis of the subject on politics? Does the point that challenges power structures change? Do politics become demphasized? Or is there simply no change since God is the only 'big other'? (and so on.)

We mustn't do anything to achieve theosis that's up to God . But I'm seeing that we can do the physical things to induce theosis without God but who would do that ? You have to be so vain to assume that work and what an insult to God. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT HE IS GOD. We are here to be humbled children and if we get with the program which is to live simply share whatever you have with whoever has need for it. And let God do the transforming in His good time . There shouldn't be a problem entering into His kingdom.
