While this movie passes on a good message about the rich versus the poor class, it also passes a negative/conflicting message about class/dressing: does Uli have to be nude/bare some of her body parts to be considered "classy" or "upgraded?" Was she not decently (howbeit, poorly) attired before she met the prince? She could have "upgraded" her attire, while still maintaining the former decency she exhibited in her former clothing. This gap says something about the faulty assumption that decency equates poverty, or perhaps, the movie just reinforces the jaundiced perception of what society qualifies as "rich" or "wealthy class" dressing. Uli loses the core of her identity with these "rich," revealing clothes that are a far cry from what we identified as her character. Perhaps, she is simply trying to fit into the mould of what her in-laws consider "classy." Besides, Uli looks more beautiful and innocent without the wigs, etc.

Your point is valid. However from a different perspective it may not be about Uli losing her identity and confirming to the idea of ‘classy’ rather it is that she had become educated, enlightened and informed. Remember at the beginning they described lipstick as blood and equated this form of dressing to prostitution. However now that she became educated she learnt that lipstick doesn’t mean she is not decent. She learnt that these were other forms of dressing accepted by others and may not be accepted by others but it had nothing to do with who she was as a person. So, it may just be a realization that she can dress either way and she’d still be ‘Uli’.

I watched this movie in 2005 I believe, I really binged on different Nollywood movies all the time, so today something came up and I decided to rewatch some of the old movies, and I found my favorite actors in this one, Ini and Kenneth. It's 2023 and this movie still makes sense.

This movie is a classic. First saw it over a decade ago. Today an event made me remember it, and I remembered the exact title -evidence to how memorable it was. Searched on CZcams and was so glad I found it. So here am I in 2023 rewatching it and still enjoying every part of it. Kudos to the cast and crew. This was a job well done👍

I watched this movie 10 years ago in Ghana. Rewatching it in USA Today has brought me much comfort and happiness. I have learned today that, God’s will will come to pass no matter what the enemies say or do,. To God be the glory ❤. I I and Kenneth nailed this movie ❤

definitely bring out the tears! When you deeply love someone,you will walk that extra mile for them, even IF, you have no shoes!! The prince(with his father's approval)carefully and loving gave careful forethought into his plan of Ini and her mom being accepted by his mom the Queen and ......IT WORKED!!!💝☺Very powerful moment when Ini walked out in that old dress!This magnificent amazing movie is a keeper!!Hats off to everybody involved in the producion of this timeless movie and I do salute you all.Job well done!
