As a father, seeing what's happening with my son, I can assure you that what the emperor said is one of the truest words.....

Don't be so hard with you. As a son who see himself as a failure I can assure you that my father did his best and I take some responsability in not being able to be a better person in general, I am a grown adult already my father did work without any formal education at all between eight to twelve hours per day to try to give me his best and I failed but my father did everything he could

I think it could be the worst thing to say to a son. Not only could he only blame the father at that point, but it also invalidates any independent development a son has had

@@psisis7423 I understand you and agree with your point! But it DOES NOT invalidate the feeling, the conclusion, the reflection of the father has or had. At least for me...

@@Alaminoar It's powerful to have this reflection. I cannot speak for a father, but as a son I think there will either be a feeling of guilt - much worse than the guilt of the father - or of resignment, hate and disgust. Because if the father is right it means he gave up, and if wrong it means the father has a sense of influence he does not have.
On the other hand, honesty will always be a sign of respect and the only way to validation and understanding I believe.
It's a complicated and sensetive situation. I wish you the best at a resolution.

You can't say that without some context. Your painting your son with some ugly colors and we can't understand his side 😢

i think it was "your farce as a son"
cuz he definitely doesn't say "are" he says "is my failure as a father"
it's not entirely clear.. but it's clearly not what the title of this video suggests.

"Faults" makes more sense than "farce". Marcus Aurelius is telling him that Commodus' bad character traits(his Faults) are due to Aurelius' poor parenting skills. Farce means something completely different(as in "farcical" or like a parody).
