the whole album is about a metaphysical wall, one which the protagonist knows he subconsciously put up against society, his closest people, and his own morals all in favor of some numbness... yet its not comfortable...

I met Dave Gilmour in Amsterdam in 2001 and when people say you shouldn’t meet your hero’s they couldn’t be more wrong because Dave was very friendly and he chatted with my friend and I for 10 or 15 mins waiting on his wife or girlfriend to come out the bank.
