Pray for him to give his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ for he has given most of his life to entertainment. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his one soul ?
Watching him performing on sunfest despite his health his sons helping him the whole way was a tear jerker. Glad I was brought in this era. Bless up Legend!
Sweet reggae music...freddie with a beautiful melody...the horns...the guitar skanking...bass and drums....women singerinh...keyboard with the doo dee doos....what a sweet sweet feeling
He had a stroke but is doing well, just saw a post from him yesterday thanking everyone for there thoughts & prayers on Facebook. He's alright now, out of the hospital, healing 🙏🏼
This is why I cannot go to many current shows which are no more than Karaoke (artist singing over a backing track) you can never beat a good live performance. I truly feel blessed that I am old enough to have seen pretty much all the reggae greats in their prime performing with live musicians.
It was so good to see Freddie at Reggae Festival in August 23. He was in a wheelchair and he's getting on so God Bless that Man!! He's given us all lots of great memories ❤
@richard stanton Without a doubt! I was letting some young at heart listeners know that Outkast "Spottieottiedopaliscious" has the full lace of Reggae/ Dancehall (with the Big horns, deep baseline, driving drums 🥁 shaking shakers, and triangles 🔺️ 🎶)! One Luv ❤️!!!
Derik even that would be a miscalculation... just because he or you may not know about Freddie doesn’t mean he’s under appreciated... depends on your own knowledge of music world wide.. Gwen Stefan named her son after Freddie... so yeah expand your musical understanding 😊
This guy is so nice! Total gent! Met him when I was a ‘singer’ in the 1980s... I was traveling down South to The Hummingbird in Brum! We drank Champagne together, obvs! This tune was MASSIVE, not unlike his beautiful personality. He treated me so well and I had danced/sang to many of his songs as a young lass. Very happy memories from (me) an aspiring singer who never got anywhere. Thanks, Freddie. These were great days for reggae.
Nuff nice music at 9pm in my basement playing my Freddie, every body put the blame on me, I'm not in the position to maintain u,and many more. Nuff love Freddie we love you.
He is my favourite reggae artist!! He sounds AMAZING live! I had the honour to meet him and get pics with him in August. I've got videos on my channel if anyone wants to see pics and concert footage.
Beautiful tune reminds me when I was young still back home on the reggae session on zim radio station every Friday.. once you heard this track you knew its reggae time by the local DJ then Dennis Wilson he was good & back then reggae music was pretty difficult to get your hands on, so had to be ready for these radio sessions to hear the latest reggae & this Freddie McGregor track was always his intro tune for years.🔥
One of the last concerts I went to with my mother before she passed was to see Freddie in concert in Toronto. Was an amazing show and night to remember. This music is food for the soul ❤️
the big ship boss ... i really love this song , i play it over and over when i am outside jamaica , jumping to this song and thinking about mama jamaica
I love lots of reggae singers but Freddy is truly my favorite, man have style and class, original to the max. Big up yourself Freddy, keep the music coming boss!
Heavy! Freddie was lead singer for Generation Gap 1970s - shared with Mikey Carrol when other friends of mine (Clyde Brodber & Clarence Edwards) managed the band. Freddie might recall a long, even 'exciting' and eventful two-week island tour in 1973. - Paul Martin (aka 'Juggie', for old spars)
Brings back so many memories, this and so many others in Tiny venues and Celebrations in Manchester thru the '70's and 80's. Was listening to Third World among many last night on Dotun Adebayo on 5 Live. So many ace gig's and things I almost forgot. Still great music too. Been bouncing all day, despite lock down, can still dance in the garden and disturb the neighbour's ;) too old for that now but can still dance and keep it bumpin'... thanks to whoever suggested it last night and to dotun for finding it :) 'Third World' and 'Promise Land' next relive my youth :)
I pray for Freddie’s recovery, God is able❤
Pray for him to give his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ for he has given most of his life to entertainment. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his one soul ?
The Voice is still strong in 2023, of course I am listening! Thanks Freddie for the great music 🎶

It's remarkable, isn't it? I think it is "just" raw talent and continued practice. One of my personal favorites in this regard is Roy Shirley (RIP).

Beautiful song, wonderful voice
He was born to do this.
Among the most consistent reggae sounds of the last 50yrs along with Beres hammond and Marcia Griffiths
This is why I cannot go to many current shows which are no more than Karaoke (artist singing over a backing track) you can never beat a good live performance. I truly feel blessed that I am old enough to have seen pretty much all the reggae greats in their prime performing with live musicians.

Derik even that would be a miscalculation... just because he or you may not know about Freddie doesn’t mean he’s under appreciated... depends on your own knowledge of music world wide.. Gwen Stefan named her son after Freddie... so yeah expand your musical understanding 😊
