    AOB has been blessed throughout his career with training the best bloodstock. With the death of GALILEO both himself and Coolmore will not find it so easy to dominate the classics as they have done in recent years.

    City of Troy's run at Newmarket was 2 bad to be true unless he hasn't trained on. The only way to know for sure is to watch at Epsom. Aiden may still win the race mind you. He has other entries and have run good trials last week. Los Angeles to name but one.

    At this stage everything is still possible with COT. He may prove himself to be a superstar, he may prove himself to be less than a superstar, or he may never run again and we'll just have Aidan's words and the money that's come for him to do the talking for him. As for Longfellow, nobody to blame there. He just never got a run and that can happen in France.

  • @tomshaffi2814
    @tomshaffi2814 Před 9 dny

    One thing for sure, Aiden is a gentleman.
    More so than a few stuck up trainers that I could mention.
    Obviously you couldn't be optimistic about COT after the Guineas, but I hope that COT smashes that Derby field, for no other reason than for Aiden.
    Despite everything he has kept his faith in the horse, and I for one hope Aiden can lead him into the winners enclosure at Epsom, with a wry smile on his face.

  • @fieldsofomagh
    @fieldsofomagh Před 15 dny +5

    City of Troy is a group 1 horse. If Aiden has faith in the horse, just look at his record. Aiden is first and foremost a gentleman, on the course and off it and that's from personal experience over a lot of years. His wife is very sociable and friendly and does her bit for the whole operation. Joseph and Donnacha are dual top class jockeys, more than equal to their peers. To me, COT is the derby winner, handmade for the twists and turns of Epsom.

    City of Troy would need to win at Epsom to prove that he really is top class. If he gives another poor performance then it will prove that he hasn't trained on. The one Aidan O'Brien horse that ran a brilliant Classic trial is Ylang Ylang. I really think she will go close in the Oaks.

    I have always been a fan of Aidens for many years however when Auguste Rodin failed in the guineas and again at Meydan then COT also doing something similar along with Henry Longfellow I just start to wonder if these horses are just not fit enough to do themselves justice on the track. Yet Los Angeles was having his first run and won a shade cosiliy. Also Rubies are Red was clearly held well back and came with a rare old rattle towards the end. From a RACE FORM point of view we dont really know where we are if we ignore all the words that have been said and just watch the performances then I am kind of scratching may head a bit. I am very wary of anything that is odds on or a well backed favourite as the stats show they are dreadful.

    City Of Troy is just another of AOB "best horse I've trained" flops. No chance in the derby. He's a midget. AOB has never trained a great flat horse, as in a Frankel, See the Stars type great. But not to worry come the Dewhurst there'll b another AOB "Best horse I've trained"
