- ... and I love it. The keybed feels familiar even to someone who has owned a real Hammond, but versatile enough to play velocity sensitive sounds.
I have more to say about this board, but I wanted to play some of the non organ samples I enjoy using. More videos to come!

That keyboard sounds fantastic. Also want to mention that you play superb on it. You've earned a new subscriber. I can already see your channel growing 100 fold quickly. Keep on doing what you are doing and you will succeed furthermore. Cheers!
Thanks so much for your kind words!
great tone and music!
Sounds great 😊
that EP FM Chorus sounds incredible
I have my eye on the Sk2, hopefully it will sound close to your SkxPro… Sounds good Bro…
rockin
Nice sound,i want to buy for my self.Tge most important thing in it -it is separated pedal out,you can play bass like you play with bass player.
I also have the sk pro and I agree that the yamaha piano patch is the best piano in the unit.
Ooo ooo play Hillside blues! Or Cheers theme! Or is it Taxi?
Just bought the sk pro noticed a unique after tone, thought it was vibrato setting turned out to be LFO set to 64 triangle I turned that right down Piano sounds great now !!!
It's very likely that that LFO is bound to your mod wheel.
I Bought a Hammond SK Pro.. and sold my Nord Electro 5, This thing had it beat sound wise, The Piano's are just as good as the organ sounds.
Agreed!!
why not keep both? the Electro is a fine instrument.
@@connor_flanigan It is I just dont have the room for 2

Nice demo 👍🏻👍🏻🎶🎶🎹🎹 I wish they had a sample option (like Nord) instead of the Mono synth , Than it was the perfect keyboard ( for me) 😎 ( now Yam YC61 after Nord D5))
There are some sample poly synth sounds that you can really mess with, but not quite as in depth in the Mono Synth.
Hi Julian, i just purchased an SK pro and so far I love it. Like you I've had issues with the piano patches. The only way I've been able to get the Yamaha patch to sound anywhere close to yours is dial the LFOs all to 0. Do you have any tips? I'm running it stereo and it still just sounds tinny and wavery.
Hey Todd! Glad you love the SK Pro!
Your mod wheel is often tied to the LFO.
So, I think I know exactly what sound artifact you are describing. Unfortunately that weird wavering instability is a common problem with sample-based sounds. The samples just ever-so-slightly disagree with each others' phase, and it's so very obvious when you sustain chords. I hear it on this board. I heard it on my Motif and my Triton as well. This artifact is especially obvious on sample based organs. Luckily I don't hear this in the organ engine.
My mentality with hiding this is to use things like a almost undetectable amount of distortion. I also like to use a bit of compression to just give a little bump of life to the keys. The cross over point on the distortion is probably the most useful tool I can recommend because you can make it full warm without making it thin and tinny.
I'm using the default patch in this demo, but I hear what you're saying.
I have a plan to demonstrate and make available a lot of my custom patches, as I have spent hundreds of hours behind this board now. In short, change it up and it won't be so obvious.
@@julianyoungsings thank you so much for the detailed reply! I will definitely give that a try. I look forward to your future videos on these patches
I’m going try saving up in 2024 Hammond sk pro 61 keyboard/ organ digital engine 2,495.00 my goal
My question is how do people get the patches to sound like this? I tried an SK pro as well as a Yamaha YC61, and all the piano sounds were garbage compared to my MX88. They sounded like crummy old casios. What is the trick here?
The thing is that a lot of this is stock sounds.
I struggled with this board at first and the pianos, but I plan on making a video soon about how I have navigated this board to make it excellent. Arguably i think the biggest thing that makes samples sound fake is velocity. If all the notes are triggered at high velocity, it sounds like a toy. You can adjust the velocity offset and make it feel a little warmer and livelier rather than all notes hitting at a high velocity.
How you do the Batch Clav sound?
Wait..what's that patch at 7:28? Stock or Modified.
It is better than Yamaha YC61 for sure.
Very similar products, but the YC61 is a little bit cheaper. The YC61 can also sound so good, the key is in the effects section.
What was the settings for your own Clav patch. If you don't mind sharing that info
I'm gonna make a whole video on that!
@@julianyoungsings thank you so much.
How do you find the action and attack on the keyboard for acoustic piano playing?
I just played a gig today with this board solo because I needed to be portable. Normally I use my Korg triton as a controller to do my piano sounds. You will have to dial the velocity range and offset to taste but it's totally doable and dynamic.
The big question: is the keyboard sensitive enough to play soft/emotional acoustic piano effectively?
That has to be a compromise with unweighted keys.
Personally, I've gotten pretty used to the feel of the keys and adjusted the velocity parameters to my needs enough that it works for banging on the keys or playing pretty. The keys are just barely heavy enough to be dynamic.
Can you please make a video about your opinion on the farfisa and vox sounds on the sk pro? You have a very fresh performance, because you're using the rhodes and piano sounds on the sk pro ... I think the additional sounds are what make this keyboard special. The hammond B3 sounds are not the decision for this board.
Truthfully, I think this thing blows many Hammond clones out of the water. It's a great engine when you dial it in.
The Nord and the Yamaha have always left me feeling underwhelmed. I like this more than the Numa, and the Voce V5 (which is a close second favorite of mine.)
Had to return the Nord D6 due to faulty keys. Looking for an solid replacement. Which is the better choice in your experience Hammond sk-pro or Yamaha yc61?
Depends what you really want. The Yamaha is a lot less expensive... and probably sounds good... I do love Yamaha.... but the Hammond has real draw bars (that's a big deal for me) and just appears more solid.
Plus, I just checked and this Hammond comes also in a dual keyboard version!!!
So if you're a dual keyboard person, that might be the one.
But it's pricey.
I like the Genos 2, but sadly, it doesn't come in a dual keyboard option.
Nor did Yamaha think of designing a "snap on" 2nd keyboard that would connect into the Genos 2.
So many choices these days.
@@BlondieSL Thanks Blondie for your reply. I did some more research i found that out neither the Yam or Ham have the after touch key bed so I'm back the drawing board . What are your thoughts on Sequential Prophet Rev2 16-voice Analog Synthesizer? I'm searching the market for a good set of 61 keys with aftertouch to pair though midi with my iridium desktop. I though it would be interesting to include some warm analog synth patches to my mixes and run samples to the iridium. The Nord stage 4 would have cheeked all the boxes like drawbar organ and aftertouch $$$. I Owned a Nord D6 but returned it due to a fault keyed so shelling out even more money to Nord for me is unsettling.
@@desmondmooreart I really don't know, Desmond.
I'm not up on all the keyboards out there.
I sort of lean towards the Yamaha Genos 2 as it does come in a couple flavors.
It does have After Touch, but I think Yam calls it something else.
I've played it at a store and found that its aftertouch is different feeling than what's on my old Yamaha HS4 and previously, my HS8.
I do have a Korg, but it doesn't have AT.
I'm not of much help with the others you mentioned as I've never had a chance to see one or play one.... sorry about that.
I've heard them live but have limited experience with the YC61. I wasn't ultimately sold as the Hammond has a way more dedicated organ engine.
Great job but how about wooly bully watch it now 😮
Anyone… Is the Sk’s keybed a completely smooth waterfall-type, or is there a small but perceptible lip at the edge?
Totally waterfall. No lip!
@@julianyoungsingsMany thanks.
I played one… is like ear a Yamaha a motif ES… please try to test a Motif ES… you will can find the same sounds
I had a Motif XS and I agree! It's very similar in sound and function!
well the motif will not have the wonderful toy piano of the SK pro. And the hilarious opera voice ...
@@bakerman3039 I can't disagree...
Great but how about wooly bully watch it now
Does it have tube overdive?
Yeah it has a good tube distortion emulation.
Can you share how you set up bundles? The whole purpose of it seems confusing and redundant. Why not just create patches and combinations, if you're going to go through all the trouble to create a bundle? There must be some attraction to it that I don't comprehend as of yet. And the explanation is not ultra clear in the manual.
The only initial advantage I see is 100 more open slots that start with the letter B instead of U. (B001-B100).
This is a new term for me? I'm familiar with patches and combinations. Do you have an SKX Pro?
@@julianyoungsings Yes, I do. The bundles are mentioned in the owner's manual, and by keyboard guru Jim Alfredson, but even Jim thought they seemed a bit silly and wasn't quite sure how to implement them.
You bought an organ to play piano? Better pianos on the market than that.
Ha! I mostly bought it for the organ, but I am very happy with the additional voices!
No wonder it’s George with a ‘0’ in the middle . . . !
you clown. It's all about the holy grail instrument that affordably pulls off organ and keyboard sounds. Ever gig bro? LMAO
