  • I sat down with Soundarya Balasubramani (aka Pooja), who is an author and ex-product manager. She quit her job at Salesforce last year to walk a different path. In this video, she talks in depth about the O-1 visa, which is a better alternative to the H-1B. Are you looking for a faster path to your green card and not wait multiple decades? Watch this to learn more.
And if you want to order Soundarya's latest book "Unshackled", check out www.readunshackled.com/harnoor to get the early bird copy.

Damn.. I was dabbling over O1 and E1B for a while as a student since it was emotionally difficult to be a student again after going through the phase of incubator like YC. Harnoor, I'm planning to start a decentralised autonomous organization for students in my campus. Would love to connect with you and talk more about the same. The idea is to cut down the education cost significantly for the participants with minimal effort

Hey! My company is entirely remote and they do not sponsor O1 VISAs, I am curious as to what options do I have? I come from tech-startup space. Here are bunch of questions that it would be great if you could answer.
    1. Does getting into accelerator with 100k - 10% terms allow one to get a O1 VISA?
    2. Does high paying job which is remote but not based in US allow one to get a O1 VISA?
    3. If my own company sponsors my VISA, what other things can I include?
    Thanks!

Harnoor, I like your blogs. You bring a particular aspect of the world of a techie that many young budding tech aspirants from India will yearn for. I have personally gone past that stage in my life but I wish I was younger and was exposed to the possibilities that young guys like you have today.
Having seen this particular vlog with Soundarya and some of your other vlogs on you other channel, I am compelled to make a point to you.
What you are showing and what you and Soundarya are doing today are great stuff and I am sure you would reach great heights in your life. My best wishes are with you. However I have a qualm with both of you. Why are you encouraging youngsters to move out of India and build another country? If smart, intelligent and capable youngsters like you will keep leaving India, who will build India 🇮🇳? I know you didn’t study at any of the IITs. But do you know that the government of India spends 5 times the tuition fees on every IITian from tax payers’ money during the period of their course? Can you understand the pain when these guys leave India for another country to build that country and leaving India 🇮🇳 in a lurch? The same story repeats in every government funded engineering, medical, architecture, arts, commerce schools and colleges. These people do not contribute anything to India 🇮🇳 in their prime and worst some even curse the country, it’s people and the government when they are in another country.
I would sincerely urge you Harnoor, Soundarya and every one of you to go back to India 🇮🇳 , use your wealth of knowledge and expertise while you are still young and use your experience to start a startup of your own and make that into a unicorn in India 🇮🇳.
In my family, I have cousins who are from the IITs, government engineering and medical colleges but are all working in the US, Canada and Europe. I tell them the same and eventually become a black sheep in the family.
I urge both of you to not only help India 🇮🇳 grow but also spread this awareness among Indians and shun this blind exodus to the western countries just like people with colonised mindset.
Good luck to both of you. Thank you 😊.

Sorry to say - Lots of misinformation here in this video. How does O1 put you on a faster path to green card. O1 is non immigrant visa while h1 is dual intent. If you qualify for EB1, you can apply for EB1 while on H1 and it will be the same time frame to get GC. O1 doesn’t guarantee a faster GC. There’s more flexibility with H1B visa. People who missed out on H1B lottery and are eligible for O1 are the ones applying for it.

  • @dhruvpande
    @dhruvpande Před rokem +3

FYI O1 is a non immigrant Visa, it doesn't allow dual intent. So when you file for GC or a Dependent it might be a problem best is talk to a lawyer and EB1B is not that easy. H-1B is relatively easier hence people prefer that.

They are less probable to file maybe, but that just might be lack of awareness :) wherever you're working right now, you should ask your manager/company lawyer about it.

A foreign national cannot self petition for an O-1 visa. Since it's a temporary work visa, it requires the applicant to have a sponsor for the petition

@@awesomekj5812 Good question! You're right -- I haven't gotten the EB-1 yet. But, I'm co-writing the book with a lawyer with 20+ years of experience, I'm speaking to dozens of immigrants who've gone through the O-1/EB-1 route to glean insights, and spending hundreds of hours researching. I think that gives three strong reasons, but hey, it's your choice ;)

its 50 years at least dude for someone who has a PD in 2022 for Eb2. There are 500000 people in the queue and only 2800 visas for EB2 India per year. That means it will take (500000/2800) = 178 years to get the GC.
