CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Frank (Leonardo DiCaprio) tells April (Kate Winslet) about his past infidelity in an effort to come clean.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Titanic shipmates Kathy Bates, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kate Winslet step onboard for director Sam Mendes' tale of suburban malaise in 1950s-era Connecticut. Adapted from the classic 1961 novel by author Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road tells the tale of a young Connecticut couple whose once-idealistic relationship steadily deteriorates into a ceaseless cycle of petty jealousy and bickering as they strive to retain their independence in the conformity-obsessed world of picket fences and perfectly manicured lawns. Ever since they first met, Frank (DiCaprio) and April (Winslet) saw themselves as special and different. They strive to form their relationship around higher ideals, though upon moving into their new home on Revolutionary Road, the defiant couple pledges never to be confined by the social conventions of the era. As time passes, however, Frank and April gradually become the very thing that they both feared most -- a typical suburban family complete with abandoned dreams and faded hopes. Frank loses his nerve after taking a comfortable job with a reliable salary, and April morphs into an unsatisfied homemaker desperate for passion and excitement. But April's independent spirit hasn't been suffocated just yet, and when she hatches a plan to head for Paris, her need to escape at all costs stands in direct contrast to Frank's desire to hold on to what they already have.

This movie makes me happy to be single.
Come on, AlucardWins.! All men are not like Frank Wheeler, thank God..!!!!
Lol we know you're not happy
Titanic makes me sad to be single.
Being single is an honest to god blessing! Enjoy it as much as you can because once you enter a long term relationship, that’s when you’re trapped and it won’t always be fun and games. Hopefully you’re with someone compatible so it’s not bad
Problem is compatibility can change over time. People don't stay the same after 10, 15, 20 years
I think he told her to hurt her and she showed him she really didnt care.
Katyb Dorton and that hurt him.
When a woman gets cheated on, you won't care and cheat 100x worse then a man who sleeps with a few girls here and there.
@@user-cz9rq3xf5y what
So the best and most reasonable reason a husband could have for confessing he has cheated is to hurt his wife? What's wrong with women like you? It cannot be because he wants to reestablish an honest dynamic, be held accountable, and because of how much worse he imagines that could be for their future if she found out on her own?
I think he just wanted to be open and honest in this situation. That he's ready to move forward. But of course it is a bad move because she was not ready to move forward with him. He wasn't really considering things from her perspective whatsoever in this situation.
You know your relationship/marriage is *OVER* when you tell your significant other that you cheated on them with someone else and they don’t even care. Anger and sadness shows that you still do care but when they don’t feel anything it means they’ve been done, just haven’t left you yet. *OUCH* 😢
Been there done that. Exactly how I felt towards the end of our relationship. At first I did care but then I slowly stopped because it was pushing me away from the things I really did care about initially and becoming someone I wasn't. It felt depressing.
@@angievalenzuela2018 I'm sorry that you had to endure that. I really hope you are doing much better now. 💞💕
I guess the relationship is over once the cheater has cheated. Lol
I just have an issue with HOW he told her. It was just weird. He expected some sort of congratulations! You told me! You’re so great! Exactly what she’s saying. He’s not saying he’s sorry he’s not saying he feels bad or guilty he’s just stating a fact. Big deal dude. You force me to have your child and you cheat on me? And you tell me! Great grand wonderful!
@misssilverandgold that's very true. Plus she cheated too. And she didn't even care enough to admit that.
these two are magic in this scene.. its like they are old Hollywood meets present day.
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID THIS! THANK YOU I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS EXACT COMMENT ❤❤
Hi plz repent of your sins. Jesus loves you so much and He died on the cross for you so that you may be with the Father and have eternal life w/Him!!!
"I dont feel anything"
This was enough to know that she was in depression. What she needed was a therapist not Paris.
Indifference and depression are not the same
@@deja_ But she was depressed in this movie though. She even told that to the guy she cheated with.
An appearance of indifference is an exterior symptom of depression
He looks so much older here, but when he moves his eyebrows he looks just as young as he used to
And that is true but his hair looks the best here next to titanic and all
In this movie, he's only 34
Cuz he has a lot of the same face expressions that he used to have when he was younger.
His eyebrows said 🐛 🐛
@John Kravitz good for u bro lol👍🏽
Revolutionary Road "Take each day as it comes, and do the best we can"
Titanic "To make each day count"
The difference of young optimism and older beaten down by life realities.
😱 i didnt even think of that
April‘s reaction is the BEST if your excuse of a man comes home to you and tells you he cheated.
Her reaction just show she got no self respect for herself therefore why he needs to love her.
@El So it's like this, she don't need to have be angry about him cheating but about "it" she been cheated on. Otherwise she won't be with Frank in the first place or could've just leave.
@@nocommonnonsenseplease7601 quite the contrary 💁
@@nocommonnonsenseplease7601 You're the one who got no self respect lmao
@@nocommonnonsenseplease7601 you make zero sense
I don't blame April for didn't feel anything
Yeah she hardly feels anything. Like she didn't feel anything after she fucked the other guy in the car.
Grace Benjamin Is because you are a woman and april too xd, I'm blame frank and april.
Because they both want different things.
April wants to go to Paris, but Frank doesn't.
April didn't wanted to have children, but Frank did.
Frank was right when he called April “an empty shell of a woman” because that’s what’s she became. The social pressures of 1950’s America was too much for her and her cries for help went unanswered. April was too much of an individual to submit to 1950’s social norms, and it broke her at the end.
@@rayunited2010foryou Yo these were two very flawed people, how in the hell they ever thought they were in love is the amazing thing.
“I don’t feel anything “ that really got me
When you’re in a committed relationship, it’s normal to have disagreements and arguments. When you get to the point to where you no longer argue, it’s because no one cares anymore. The indifference is the killer of the relationship.
True, but there’s such a thing as a right and wrong way to disagree.
I kinda have to side with April on this one. The fact Frank was going around cheating with someone.. he deserved to hear that she doesn't care or love him no matter how hard he tried to make it work with her. It's just that he was still a child in his own ways and just couldn't be honest.
Gabrielle Frank was clearly being honest here. April is the dishonest one because she always hid her feelings and even cheated on Frank herself.
I am pretty sure she's the child since she somehow wanted him to leave his job and get money from nowhere. He simply told her the truth to get rid of any guilt he had, and she threw a tantrum over it.
Sonicfan640 She wasn’t honest bc she was already past that point. Frank still cared for her, she fell out of love. She didn’t tell him about her affair bc she didn’t care about him or his feelings anymore, she didn’t want to open up to him about anything bc she didn’t want to let him in like that anymore. She just quit caring about everything that involved with Frank.
Faeries_Xylia 923 so being a empty shell of a women lmao

these two just proved why they are the best actors around in this movie.I mean the dept and different layers of emotions. And ofcours the undeniable chemistry.
why did you?
why did you tell m about it?
don't know if it makes me insane or something but I totally, completely get her .
It makes you insane
Vicky Ray says someone who has never been in a mental abusive relationship I guess
It seems like he only told her to get her attention. He wanted a reaction from her and that's pretty much it.
I get it too. Makes completely perfect sense.
I think that's the moment she knew that was the last straw for her. That's when whatever love she thought she had for him died.
Screw u
I think she realized then that she married a man-child.
i think he was a coward. he couldn't look further or take other proyects to live a diferent life
Virginia Bellabarba I don't think so ..it's purely subjective .....because he was working and couldn't take the risk of leaving a job and moving to a different country ...without any guarantee ....and at the same time I can understand aprils view because she was depressed of her monotonous life ...it's a never ending loop
Well you are totally right. It´s important to have economic security before you leave everything behind to change your lifestyle when you have a family but if i were him i wouldn't doubt it and pick the risk, after all if it does work they could change their lifestyle for better than in their own country.
That move would've been a disaster. The only bad thing about them going to Paris would've been that they couldn't leave themselves behind. How in the world would April have been happy working as a secretary in a foreign country while being pregnant and having to support an entire family? She would've grown to resent Frank even more because I'm sure he would've gotten bored, had another affair, and been screwing his mistress all day while April was breaking her back to support them.
It's strange, I thought April was the child.
This movie is a result of a huge amount of trust on both parties, the director and both of the actors. Phenomenal performances and they carry the story seamlessly.
Amazing to me how some don’t see the subtle nuances in her face. At first she’s shocked to hear he’s cheated, but then she plays as though she’s not bothered at all. Don’t forget she’s an actress. She didn’t want to give Frank the satisfaction of knowing she’s still in love with him. But I do believe this was the breaking point of the relationship.
she isn’t shocked or pretends not to be bothered, she genuinely doesn’t care anymore. at this point in the movie, she’d cheated on him too. did you watch the film?
@@chikannnn You probably can’t read all that well because I explained it so thoroughly. I don’t know how you missed the point I made. Im also basing this off of many reviewers and Kate’a own words.

Revolutionary road is not a film
It's like an acting master class
They cut off her line!: "Fuck who you like." Incredible movie. Incredible novel.
haha i guess that truly is the best revenge to get on someone who has cheated on you, telling them that you genuinely don't care that they cheated because you don't love them enough to care. ouch
This is a severely underrated movie....Leo and Kate were PHENOMENAL here. 💖💖
That is a clear sign that his wife is extremely depressed. She can’t feel anything and is numb to even the most hurtful news. Your husband cheats on you… and you feel nothing. It’s a far from normal reaction.
never seen someone snap with that soft of a voice, go off April
If she actually felt something but she was hiding it to make him feel frustrated... That was badass
I love the both of them... All of their films was so interesting
I can’t stress enough how much his character reminds me of my ex, and how her character reminds me of myself. Damn, I’m sure so many people can relate to this relationship dynamic
April being indifferent spares her the heartache and contest against Frank. She is willing to subvert any ideas that could bring on adversary and would just rather keep it to herself. It’s a perfect example of living on autopilot in a relationship
It's true..
In a dead relationship, there is no room for any emotions.

@Mercy I agree.
U said it buddy!
@@orlandobabe if relationship is just drama like you said then explain why my parents and grandparents married happy till they passed away sure there are ups and down i've seen it. this movie meant to show some people are not meant to each other even if one of'em tried to make it work or they had short fling at the start
These two weren't meant to be together, that's what the movie is conveying. When you're with the wrong person, no matter what you do, it'll fall apart. But that doesn't account for every relationship. Communication and the willingness to make things work is what keeps a relationship "drama" free, but no relationship is without its downs.
I will say that if you think relationships are all drama, then it's best you stay out of one because you only bring that opinion into it and that'll be good for neither of you.
@@Sotryn_Fox hence why I refuse to be in a relationship
In Titanic every second counted.
In Revolutionary road every year was a suffering.
Now let that sink in.
"Now let that sink in"
I see what you did there 😎
I disagree; I think Frank did try to help their marriage. I understand April's position of being married to a passive man, but I admire Frank's efforts to communicate with her. Communication is vital to marriage, and she never wants to talk about their problems. It's the mentality of "if we ignore it, it'll go away." He also admits to having an affair, and she doesn't. But ultimately, neither is better than the other; they're both have their own flaws that always overcome their good intentions.
I think she didn't want to talk because she felt like from past experience she was being attacked or misunderstood and he was always trying to shape how she should feel about certain situations and if she was right and he was the one doing wrong (in the beginning) he would make her feel bad about it and make it about him. Or if she was sad it was almost as if he was reading a script to her, and expecting her to feel better about it immediately...
He wanted to make her react. That's why he told. Just look at how his expression changes when she asks why he told her. It's not about open communication.
Lumos SK I think he was wanted to know that there was still hope between them and maybe they can finally communicate but he was already too late bc she didn’t love him anymore.
This was before she cheated. Though I mostly agree with the rest of what you said.

She's right, never tell your woman you cheated. It's selfish and will hurt her for no reason. Just move on in silence.
I agree. That's why I think it's such a tragic story. Films about failed marriages always make me pause and think what the people could have done to make it work.
This movie is so relatable.....its eerie.
Never tell them if you cheat, please. It does nothing but cause more pain.
I’m sure at one point they accidentally called each other Rose or Jack… 😭💗😭💗😭💗💗😭💗💗💗

Jack and Rose after surviving titanic
They were in Titanic together!!
No way, really?
@@jakelane5567 yes they played jack &’ rose.
I don't think any one of them is more evil or wrong in their marriage. Frank and April just don't discuss things they have to (though, everyone keeps saying ''we always need to tell the truth'').
Frank has a nice job offer, he is afraid to tell his wife that he wouldn't become a writer anyway, he has no talent, and moving to Paris won't change that fact.
Alice is living in suburbs in 50s, has only one friend of her age, does housework from dusk till dawn (it's not hard, it's monotone, she has nothing to do except that). She feels trapped and desperate, that's why the whole "let's leave for Paris" tirade has started. She loves Frank, but the environment makes her sick, Alice hates it and believes she hates Frank as well cause he doesn't want to help her escape from this place. Cheating doesn't matter for her, as she is unsure whether there *is* a marriage left to be spoiled by cheating.
Paris was a silly idea, but Frank shoud've took Alice and children to a bigger city at least where would be the opportunities for both of them. I mean, if your spouse even considers an abortion as a way to leave the place, maybe you really should leave the fucking place :D
True to every world
this movie made me glad im single
Wow, now Rose is asking Jack to take each day as it comes? Ha, how ironic. TITANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
omg her face when she was told im hurt
I believe she reacted that way isn't becuz she doesn't care is becuz she actually did the same thing and his honesty is shaming her. If she didn't love him anymore than why not say I also was with another man our neighbor. She never told him,
@guccisflower Why not leave
@Christina Green exactly
Lol always in his feelings 😂
That is the only reason you would divulge that to your partner, Because like she said, what would be the point otherwise.
he got a second chance with Kate Winslet??
Watching this scene, I can see that it's true: Leo is turning into Jack Nicholson, and I think that's just peachy.
What the fuck are you talking about idiot. Grow a brain of your own and stop repeating dumb comments from tabloid headlines. He looks and acts nothing like Nicholson. He is better than that.
5 years later and I legit audible laughed A+👌 we gon get our jack Nicholson #2
To tell you the truth, I'm not seeing Rose and Jack. I see Leo and Kate
at least frank tried to communicate to her. she cheated on him but didn't mention it, he did.
both are toxic.
He’s so honest
Good points. I still think Frank tried harder, but there are moments when April supports him and wants the best for him. I think one of their biggest mistakes was that they basically built their entire marriage on good intentions. Their motives were good and their plans for the future were full of promise, but when things got tough, that's when the bad, selfish behavior came into it. The film portrays it very well; I keep coming back to it to remind myself of what NOT to do in a marriage.
I think she loves him but is no longer SUPRISED at his bad choices.
This is one of the top films that make you want to abstain from marriage
Gosh.....he just doesn't _shut up._
Has anyone noticed that Leo's voice didn't change
Kate and Leo look better in this movie than in the Titanic.
Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet are really good friends in real life.
I just noticed that in the movie description in the description box, it’s says “Titanic Shipmates.........”
First she was named after a flower, and now a season haha lol
I mean these guys nailed it like anything
its the movie and thats what makes him a great actor by acting in movies like this and titanic blood diamond inception and many others
this why it took them forever to make another movie together becuz they knew every1 would compare them to Titanic and not actually see the characters April and Frank.
These two were made to work together
Amazing!!
(No argument intended) I don't think it's a story with heroes. Both of them do horrible things to one another without ever making the sanctity of their marriage a number one priority. Instead, they each do what they do for their own personal fulfillment or happiness. Had they served one another in marriage as opposed to doing what they do, they would have made it. I don't see anything heroic about their actions. All I see is tragedy.
The story to the titanic and here is so different it amazes me
Falling in love with the idea of the person and not the actual person, been there, thank god I didn't get married at 20 to the boy I met at a party that I dated after we friended each other on facebook and approved of our profiles and pics, I seriously dogged a bullet.
And he also got saved in the process, along with you!
I think every argument they have i think is really funny
Damn......the feels
As usual, MovieClips cut away before the most important line.
April was burned out by the monotonious life and by the unsuccesfullnes as an actress. Did she really think Paris would change anything? This is childish. Frank wasn't a mature man neither but he tried he loved April... April was a selfish woman who blamed his husband for her own unhappieness. As if she wouldn't be a grown woman responible for her private life... As i saw in the movie Frank tried to care about their relationship and April was the one who always hurted Frank unnecessary. At the end Frank became a succesful man in the company and they could have moved to Paris a few years later too. But then April decided to ruin the whole life for Frank... I can't feel sorry for her...
Frank was only wrong about cheating her after April kicked him out of the bedroom cuz she was angry because of the unsucces of the play... and he was wrong not to kick him out of HIS house after all this unnecessary mind-game.
This is the best Scorpio-Libra couple on screen there is. In carachters and true life.

The worst thing that can happen to you when you cheat on your partner is when he/she isn't angry
You shouldn't cheat in the first place
