  • Staying at a beach house in Mayaro on St Annes Street I had the opportunity to witness fishermen at work. Fishes of all kinds, all pretty big. We bought a very large king fish for 10 US dollars

Growing up in T&T, we helped the fishermen pull seine, many mornings and they gave up some edum and small fish and crabs, which we took them up to the house and had lovely dinners and lunches . Also I miss digging for chip-chip, mummy made many dishes with the mollusks!! God bless T&T!

How time moves on, we vacationed where in the 60s. Everyone lend a hand to pull seine. So us little children really did not do much, but the excitement and the memories are still with me.
All you could see, were fishermen pulling seine, and the boats taking the nets out to the ocean.
I also remember, them cutting the fins off the small sharks that were brought in writhing the fish. The dogs grab the fins and off they were with a fresh morning meal.

Take dry ice to the b beach, I wondering if the truck they are putting those fishes on is a cooler truck, and the gentleman that paid $300.00 for the two fishes, did they at least gut the fishes and put them on ice for him? Trinidad have gotten to be an expensive place to live.

these people for the most part demand all sorts things from the government, yet don’t pay any taxes and make free money in the process. I’m sure if 25% of all fisher folk pay taxes that’s a whole lot.
I saw a news reel recently where fishermen from the kings wharf region was demanding the govt give them facilities to store their boat engines, yet how many of them pay taxes?
same with cali bay fishermen, they want to coastguard and the riverine police unit to be at the beckoning call, yet I doubt if 10% of them pay their fair share in taxes.
trinidadians really don’t know how wonderful they have it, in most countries you need a special license to to do any kind of hustle and they are highly regulated, but in trinbago you just try ah ting and make money with no hassle.
I see doubles vendors and the rest of vendors pays no taxes, yet their demands are high, they want roads, running water, free schooling and free medical benefits but won’t give back a penny towards the treasury, what ah thing what ah thing.

They should deal with the and let the small and by catch go, or there won't be any left soon, like Jamaica. Last time I went home they catching baby fish, compare to when I was a boy, they to be huge. But the government is trying to help to back the fish stock. Through proper management.
