A Nice Alternate Plan - Chasing NYS&W

- Sunday, October 9th, 2022 - We're based in the Rochester, NY area for the first of three nights. Our plan for this day was going to be chasing the Finger Lakes Railroad from Geneva to Solvay and back. However on Saturday as we traveled west, the revelation that the FRA had shut down a short deck bridge in Auburn, was a plan killer. The Finger Lakes would not run again until Monday afternoon. Now we were going to have to find something else to do (railfanning) on Sunday. Could it be possible we would have to hold our noses and watch CSX in Rochester? A little birdie at the last moment told us the NYS&W was going to be running a Sunday extra from Syracuse to Cortland, and we went for it!

For me, as someone that enjoys knowing all the pertinent information, the dates, locations, and historical facts, I do appreciate the effort and attention to detail that you put into these videos.

Great video! I am planning to railfan in NY and PA in upcomings weeks and I am very interested in NYS&W operations. Is there some regularity in the operations? Some train schedule? I am particularly interested in the Syracuse - Binghamton line and the street running in Utica. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words! I am honestly not very familiar with NYS&W operations. This train was not a normal run. You may want to check out the "Railroading Rambler" channel.
