Oh my lord I need advice from anyone willing to listen. So I have this friend who I met in fall of 2022 and started liking around late winter of 2023, December ish times. We got close and around spring I felt like things were maybe going somewhere but in July he told me that he got into a relationship, which came to me as a genuine shock but he seemed happy and I always put being a friend before liking him so I was overall happy for him. Flash forward to a month ago, and his partner broke up with him, I did my best to support him but they broke things off on good terms because they're getting ready for college things and his partner thought it'd be better off this way, so he recovered pretty quickly, at least I think. I gave him about a month and a half, but now I've started trying to flirt a bit and it seems like he's reciprocating, but I also know he's autistic and he's told me he can miss social cues and can be pretty dense, so I don't know if he's unintentionally signalling romantic feelings or if he genuinely likes me back romantically. I want to make sure I don't rush him because he may not be ready for another relationship, and I don't even know if he really feels the same yet and I don't want to lose my friendship with him since we've recently started referring to each other as best friends, should I keep flirting lightly or try to lay off for a bit?? Wowww bruh your life is a movie. I’m no expert but I’d say maybe give him a bit more time and feel things out, but eventually you’re gonna have to have that conversation. Just be honest about how you feel and how important the friendship is to you, and that’s all you can do. So I've now spent a lot of time with this friend and we really are getting a lot closer. He's started being more comfortable with me physically (he's a very non touchy person) and when we hung out today he poked me a lot and grabbed my arm a few times and we played as though we were pushing each other a bit. But the thing is, I had a conversation with him a week ago where we talked about our romantic lives and he shared that sometimes it's hard for him to tell when he likes someone or if he just wants to get to know them, so I asked "well is there anyone who you're questioning that about right now?" And without hesitation he said no. I don't wanna be delusional and frame that in the context of "oh well he isn't questioning it because he KNOWS he likes someone" because I know that's very unlikely. I still like him a lot but I've reached a place where I genuinely feel like I CAN move on, but I don't really want to. I like liking him, it's really fun and brings me joy and spending time with him is fun but I also have been experiencing insomnia for the last few days just toiling about it over and over again "If I asked him on a date would he think our entire friendship is just me trying to get close to him romantically; it's fine if he rejects me but what if he puts distance between us and I lose one of my best friends" making up scenarios like that and trying to resolve them when literally nothing is happening. Earlier today I thought I was moving on because even with the physical touch, in the moment I really didn't feel as strongly romantically attracted as I have been but now I'm right back at it. I've never succeeded in romance in my life. I'm not majorly hurt by that, I mean I know im picky (not in appearance but in personality, quality of character, etc.), but it really really sucks to feel like I've recently glowed up and gotten better style and people have outright started recognizing the effort I put into my outfits and complimenting my art and my skills and talents but the one person I really want that attention from just doesn't give me any kind of romantic interest. Ive made my mind already that I'm just going to let myself feel whatever I feel, and I'm not gonna force myself to get over him but I'm also not going to try and get him to like me or anything. I'll see how I feel and react accordingly. If in the moment while I'm with him, I feel like asking him if he'd like to go on a date? I will. I learned that he doesn’t really catch feelings but he wanted to figure things out with me and I was open to being patient. After a few more hangouts (which were actually kind of just hook ups), I felt like some of my boundaries weren’t respected and he started to become uncomfortable of the idea of dating me. Although I really liked the attention, I realized it’s not going to go well for me long term and that this is only doing me more harm than good. Tbh Im just dumb and sorta let that thing go on for too long knowing he’s more of a fwb guy. Anyway I had to end things with him and I also couldn’t be his friend just because I had to get over him completely. So we didn’t talk for 2 and a half weeks because I needed that space . But….. like about 4 days ago I had to be around/hangout with him because I met a lot of his friends and they wanted to hangout with me. It gave me so much anxiety at first but it we ended up cuddling and talking that whole night when everyone else was asleep and he suggested that we try things again and go on a date and that he missed me a lot. I was over at his place last night and again it was more of a hookup than anything and even then I just don’t really vibe with it emotionally. I was open to trying things out but I just realize that him and I don’t vibe beyond a friendship and that he did his purpose in my life in that way. I’m open to being his friend later on but maybe just not talking is the best for now. I plan on talking to him today if he actually tries to fucking respond knowing I want to talk. If I’m being honest, it does make me sad that i don’t vibe with it. But my gut is telling me that it’s just not worth it. I like him as a person and friend so I wish that things could be different but they’re not and I just have to accept that.

And that caused both of us more damage and hurt than had we just listened to ourselves and moved forward. Sadly, that's only a lesson you can learn by doing it, but what I'm trying to say is that I would really try to take space and move forward. I think that's fair. I'd rather be the person who made the extra effort, even if it wasn't reciprocated, than giving up too soon. And I'm really sorry about your bf. Oh my lord I need advice from anyone willing to listen. So I have this friend who I met in fall of 2022 and started liking around late winter of 2023, December ish times. We got close and around spring I felt like things were maybe going somewhere but in July he told me that he got into a relationship, which came to me as a genuine shock but he seemed happy and I always put being a friend before liking him so I was overall happy for him. Flash forward to a month ago, and his partner broke up with him, I did my best to support him but they broke things off on good terms because they're getting ready for college things and his partner thought it'd be better off this way, so he recovered pretty quickly, at least I think. I gave him about a month and a half, but now I've started trying to flirt a bit and it seems like he's reciprocating, but I also know he's autistic and he's told me he can miss social cues and can be pretty dense, so I don't know if he's unintentionally signalling romantic feelings or if he genuinely likes me back romantically. I want to make sure I don't rush him because he may not be ready for another relationship, and I don't even know if he really feels the same yet and I don't want to lose my friendship with him since we've recently started referring to each other as best friends, should I keep flirting lightly or try to lay off for a bit?? Or in general just want should I dooo
Wowww bruh your life is a movie. I’m no expert but I’d say maybe give him a bit more time and feel things out, but eventually you’re gonna have to have that conversation. Just be honest about how you feel and how important the friendship is to you, and that’s all you can do. Whether it works out or not you put your best foot forward and gave it a shot and that’s what life is about. I’d rather take the chance than try to push it aside and regret it later on. And I think if he’s an understanding person he’ll appreciate you being honest and want to be friends no matter what

@@jacobdreamsasmr So i imagine you haven't lost sleep over this but I'm here with an update, not asking for advice just venting essentially.
So I've now spent a lot of time with this friend and we really are getting a lot closer. He's started being more comfortable with me physically (he's a very non touchy person) and when we hung out today he poked me a lot and grabbed my arm a few times and we played as though we were pushing each other a bit. But the thing is, I had a conversation with him a week ago where we talked about our romantic lives and he shared that sometimes it's hard for him to tell when he likes someone or if he just wants to get to know them, so I asked "well is there anyone who you're questioning that about right now?" And without hesitation he said no. I don't wanna be delusional and frame that in the context of "oh well he isn't questioning it because he KNOWS he likes someone" because I know that's very unlikely. I still like him a lot but I've reached a place where I genuinely feel like I CAN move on, but I don't really want to. I like liking him, it's really fun and brings me joy and spending time with him is fun but I also have been experiencing insomnia for the last few days just toiling about it over and over again "If I asked him on a date would he think our entire friendship is just me trying to get close to him romantically; it's fine if he rejects me but what if he puts distance between us and I lose one of my best friends" making up scenarios like that and trying to resolve them when literally nothing is happening. Earlier today I thought I was moving on because even with the physical touch, in the moment I really didn't feel as strongly romantically attracted as I have been but now I'm right back at it.
I've never succeeded in romance in my life. I'm not majorly hurt by that, I mean I know im picky (not in appearance but in personality, quality of character, etc.), but it really really sucks to feel like I've recently glowed up and gotten better style and people have outright started recognizing the effort I put into my outfits and complimenting my art and my skills and talents but the one person I really want that attention from just doesn't give me any kind of romantic interest.
Ive made my mind already that I'm just going to let myself feel whatever I feel, and I'm not gonna force myself to get over him but I'm also not going to try and get him to like me or anything. I'll see how I feel and react accordingly. If in the moment while I'm with him, I feel like asking him if he'd like to go on a date? I will. But if I wanna opt to just appreciate the time I'm getting to spend with someone who I love both romantically and platonically, that's fine as well. I just feel very frustrated about the dryness of my romantic life.

@@jacobdreamsasmr okay I gotchu. So I was seeing this dude I met at a concert and our first hangout went pretty well. I learned that he doesn’t really catch feelings but he wanted to figure things out with me and I was open to being patient. After a few more hangouts (which were actually kind of just hook ups), I felt like some of my boundaries weren’t respected and he started to become uncomfortable of the idea of dating me. Although I really liked the attention, I realized it’s not going to go well for me long term and that this is only doing me more harm than good. Tbh Im just dumb and sorta let that thing go on for too long knowing he’s more of a fwb guy. Anyway I had to end things with him and I also couldn’t be his friend just because I had to get over him completely. So we didn’t talk for 2 and a half weeks because I needed that space . But….. like about 4 days ago I had to be around/hangout with him because I met a lot of his friends and they wanted to hangout with me. It gave me so much anxiety at first but it we ended up cuddling and talking that whole night when everyone else was asleep and he suggested that we try things again and go on a date and that he missed me a lot. I was over at his place last night and again it was more of a hookup than anything and even then I just don’t really vibe with it emotionally. I was open to trying things out but I just realize that him and I don’t vibe beyond a friendship and that he did his purpose in my life in that way. I’m open to being his friend later on but maybe just not talking is the best for now. I plan on talking to him today if he actually tries to fucking respond knowing I want to talk. If I’m being honest, it does make me sad that i don’t vibe with it. But my gut is telling me that it’s just not worth it. I like him as a person and friend so I wish that things could be different but they’re not and I just have to accept that.
I’m gonna shoot straight w you girl I think he’s just interested in hooking up. Which is fine, but if you’re looking for more, I think it’s best to end things and move on. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries being sweet again because he still wants to be with you, but that’s his version of being together, not yours. I’m sure it’s frustrating cuz you have some chemistry and it feels good being together, but I think you’re right when you say that long term it would be hurtful. I completely agree and I know that he wants to like me and everything and that it was also my fault because I had initiated some touchy touchy and romantic stuff (😭). Regardless of that, it’s true that we just aren’t compatible in that romantic sense. He finally responded and so we’re going to see each other tonight and talk. Im bummed because I don’t want him to fully exit out of my life. I should’ve continued the break I had with him so that we can properly be friends at some point. I know that he’d respect me just wanting to be friends and nothing more so all I can do is just give things time. It’s more of just me having to move on and everything. I’m leaving for college soon so I’ll get lots of bitches then (hopefully). Thank you, again!!
@@yuh9995 don't be hard on yourself bruh. It's an experience you'll learn from. I know being alone is hard and sucks. I will say, in my first relationship, I let things go on for too long cuz I was scared to be by myself and felt like I was "giving up" on the relationship, so I kept going back over and over hoping things would change. And that caused both of us more damage and hurt than had we just listened to ourselves and moved forward. Sadly, that's only a lesson you can learn by doing it, but what I'm trying to say is that I would really try to take space and move forward. It hurts in the moment but there are much better things for you on the other side of it. I promise
