    People don't like to be told what to do. So how can someone ever persuade another person? Research on social influence has shown how powerful it can be to simply assure people that they're free to say "no" to you. It's the "But You Are Free" Technique.

    Hey Andrew, great job man. You are free to decline this proposal but I would appreciate if you did 1 or more videos on psychological heuristics.

    Pretty sure it's because the single sentence creates a small amount of trust between the two individuals. It shows the person respects their freedoms and doesn't want to act against them maliciously.

    How to manipulate. Just what we need people knowing.

    • @yaboiavery5986
      @yaboiavery5986 Před 2 lety +1

      Manipulate or be manipulated, any person to person communication can be considered manipulation in a way, you are either unconscious or conscious of it
      For example, if you don't text your gf/bf for longer than usual your absence will create scarcity therefore more demand, you sometimes have to take something away for people to remember what it was like not to have it.

    What if the option to say no isn't an option? How should I remind my children to do their chores with this "reactance" behavior in mind?

    Eh really? Because for me if anyone add that phrase "you are free to choose" I'll definitely say NO because it means its not mandatory to involve myself in something that I am ask to do

    • @schonlingg.wunderbar2985
      @schonlingg.wunderbar2985 Před 2 lety

      If somebody on the street would try to tell me to take part in a mandatory survey they'd get a solid "no" with a clear subtext of "go fuck yourself". What I value is importance, so I would not take part, if the issue is not of interest to me, but I guess "you are free to participate" would make me less grumpy about someone trying to sell me something, so ... partial success?

    Manipulation how to make people do what you want them to do. I'd rather be by myself, and that's why. Real honest relationships don't matter. It's all about how to use others to gain advantage. 😢
