Holy shit it does. I remember watching this when I was a kid and taping one of the episodes so I could listen to this theme whenever I wanted. Good times, man.
RIP Alex Trebek (July 22nd, 1940-November 8th, 2020) by far one of the most sophisticated, well-mannered, and dapper men to grace the screen. Here's my Classic Concentration rebus for him: Frenchman saying OUI! + Loaf of Bread + An Ewe + An Owl + "X" + A Tree + Arrows pointing at a guy's Back: We Love You Alex Trebek. When it comes down to his illness, he triumphed over it because he beat the odds and fought longer than most. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to watch another rerun of Double Dare, Classic Concentration, or Jeopardy! again after this year (he taped episodes of Jeopardy! all the way through October 19th that will air for the rest of the year).
I haven't seen Jeopardy since his last episode as host.
@@tiffanymorgan6562 This past season, the 40th season was nothing but what seemed to be tournament after tournament. Where was the regular season gameplay to sharpen my mind and play along that Trebek gave us?!

A certified jam. Great ears by someone in production decided it should go from a Body Language ticket plug to the new theme for Classic Concentration. Love the whole track, the horns, the funky slap bass, the entire arrangement. Choice!

I did a simplified piano duet arrangement of music from this show three days after Alex died. It's not the same without all the instruments, though.

Used to catch every episode of this I could every summer because I was in school when it would air on weekdays throughout the school year - the game shows had so much vibe and originality back in the 80's!!!
The 70s was more my wheelhouse but certainly the 80s were fantastic as well for major network non-syndicated daytime game shows...Scrabble was another awesome one. NBC had a big time lineup back in the day. Sadly now just two hour long game shows air on major networks (CBS specifically) with Price & Deal.

Aside from the fact we lost Alex nearly 3 years ago, it has been a sad time for emcees lately. Bob Barker died back on August 26th at the age of 99, and now this coming Monday will be the start of the 41st season of Wheel of Fortune, but it will be the final season in which Pat Sajak will be host. Think about this, Bob would've been 100 this coming December 12th. Trebek would've been 83 back on July 22nd, and Sajak will be 77 on October 26th, two days after I turn 33. They're not getting any younger!

Classic Concentration has to come back in a new, rebooted version. Keep everything the way it was from 1987-91, but make all of the cars more luxurious and have a new Wild Card Bonus: Only have 1 Wild Card in the game, but if it's left on the board after all of the numbers have been called or someone solves the puzzle without uncovering the Wild Card, have a cash jackpot won by that player who solves the puzzle. Also, have the Green Takes, but bring back the Forfeits in Red, no Red Takes. One pair of Takes in green and one pair of Forfeits in red. Base time in the Winner's Circle should be 35 seconds as always with five extra seconds each time until a player wins the last car matched after all seven pairs have been matched, with one number hiding the single copy of the eighth car, and if the champion can match all seven pairs of cars in less than 35 seconds, then they win the car plus a huge cash jackpot and they are retired undefeated.

Then nbc destroyed the entire daytime lineup in the 90s ending daytime game shows in 1994 and then cancelling another world in 1999.
@@jamesklatt Not to mention, they replaced Game Shows with the Newsmagazine Cover to Cover and Trial Watch and Talk Shows like A Closer Look with Faith Daniels, The Marsha Warfield Show, One on One with John Tesh, Doctor Dean, The Jane Whitney Show, John & LeeZa from Hollywood and later LeeZa and in 1999 came Later TODAY with Jodi Applegate (formally of Weekend TODAY) Asha Blake (formally of abc NEWS) and the late Florence Henderson of The Brady Bunch Fame and a Former Weathergirl on TODAY back in the 50's and 60's and since 2000, TODAY expanded to 3 hours and now, it's 4 Freakin' Hours which is ridiculous

This show should be redone and released. This time, they should call it "Concentration" (as the original show was).
It would be such a fun show to see for millennials, Gen Z as well as us X'ers and Baby Boomers.
We'll see how the reruns on BUZZR do. Sadly I'm not so sure it would ever work these days because there isn't really anything that cerebral newly coming to air. For now, just enjoying the classics.

If _I_ were to revive the show, this would be on ABC (as part of the _Summer Fun and Games_ block, natch)-with, oh, say, Jonathan Mangum as host and Neil Ross as announcer.
That would be a good idea, except NBC owns the rights to the Concentration format. If the network isn't gonna do anything with it, I'd say they should sell the rights.
@@wturner777 Keep in mind that NBCU has produced programs that they own the rights to for rival networks, such as the FBI franchise and The Equalizer. Hey, if those shows can air on a network other than NBC, so can Concentration and TTD, as they could produce it for ABC.

So, I engaged in a deep-dive discussion about this theme - and (while it is one of my all time favorites) I'm now starting to wonder if it's computerized MIDI or if an actual group of saxes, trumpets, piano (and triangle!) got together and jammed this out? In my heart of hearts I want to picture session musicians sitting in a recording studio playing the F out of this, but a couple of things give me a slight suspicion it might not have gone down that way. And since "Score Productions" is the only entity credited with this song, is there even a name known to be tied to it arrangement-wise?
I'm not positive but I think this is a Bob Israel composition. I believe the sax solo is spliced back in multiple times to extend the length but the performances sound like brilliantly arranged session musicians to me.
@@suprchickn7745 Bob Israel owns it, but Paul Epstein wrote it. Can't guarantee there aren't synths doubling under the horns, but that sounds way more like a live 6- or 7-piece horn section than mid-'80s-quality MIDI. The horn gliss and fall at @3:27 would sound tacky as hell if it was just MIDI.

I Got them directly from Score Productions back in the early 90's. And I do have the opening but I haven't uploaded it yet.

Almost sounds like a reworked version of "Sussudio" by Phil Collins.
