I knew Alex's death was coming because of the controversy around Cas Anvar, but damn, that was an extremely anticlimatic death!
I like it. Shows always kills off minor characters with no drama or drawn out deaths. I liked that that happened to a main character for once. No matter the reason why :)
I think it actually worked really well. We just had an extremely emotional near-death scene with Naomi. And them boom, Alex is the price for saving Naomi. However, what I missed was a proper aftermath. It hard-cuts to the scene with Naomi and Holden in medical bay several weeks later. There should have been another emotional scene of Booby finding him, or at least of her telling Holden via the screen that she saved Naomi but Alex is dead.
I know that this was a post-production change caused by Cas Anvar being fired for sexual misconducts on set (there are actually photos from the set showing him together with the rest of the crew in the final "party" scenes on Luna, that were removed). But since they re-filmed the talk between Naomi and James to include the talk about Alex, and added scenes to the party with Avasarala offering condolences to Bobby, they could have added Bobby telling Holden and Amos about Alex's death, if they didn't want to shoot another scene with Alex and Bobby together.
@Marta de Monfort Alex wasn't the 'price' for saving Naomi - that would imply his death was somehow a necessary part of it, which it wasn't. If they'd had Alex in another ship as a distraction for attackers and getting shot down or something sure, but he just randomly died of a stroke for doing something that he'd done all his life - and which his co-passenger who wasn't a pilot had no trouble surviving. It was a last minute change due to out-of-universe circumstances, and it certainly looked like it.
@Persona I disagree, although you're entitled to your opinion, of course.
Yes, it was a random stroke, but had it happened on Roci, with a full-on medical bay and someone to see him getting this stroke and bringing him to said medical bay - he could have survived. Or he'd never had that particular stroke, because the vein that caused it had a few more days without high-G to heal and didn't rupture. He got it in circumstances that prevented him from getting help. Sure, it was caused by the external circumstances and firing the actor, but nonetheless the death Alex was given was almost poetic. The execustion could have been better, but as post-production insert, this is pretty darn good.
In a way, they gave him the death book Fred Johnson had. In the book Fred survived the attack, but then died due to high-G manouvering on the Roci.
@Haarfagr LOL shed's death was out of the blue thin air back in S1
16:15 Was really hoping for "And Amos fails to save his Tequila"
"This season, the good guys lose"
I'll admit, I felt more bummed out from that bottle shattering on the moon than Alex's death.
That really shows earthers' selfishness. The people down in the atrium had plenty of time for someone to catch that bottle in Luna's low gravity, but no, that's not their problem! Fucking dusters... XD
I was expecting Peaches to get all fast and catch it
Oh that would've been prefect.
When I first watched the finale I didn't even realize Alex died until I almost finished the episode. I had to go back and rewatch it because it seems so forced in. After googling it now I know why..
He got 'canceled' sexual misconduct investigation is under way. They killed him pretty instantly.
Didn't feel forced at all compared to other cases when the character dies off-screen
same. but I didn't really care and didn't rewatch. this season was complete garbage.
Yeah I agree, I thought he was just shocked by something he saw on the ships monitors until the rest of the crew explained what happened lol. Even then it sounded like they were just saying Alex is dead btw and moved on.
This is still 1000% better than in similar situations in most shows. Compare this to House of Cards for example (spoilers for Season 6): Yeah Underwood kinda died randomly between seasons who cares let's move on. You have to give credit to the showrunners for at least giving the character a send-off on screen.
God damn, this show is great. So glad you encouraged me to try it.
Alex's death gutted me. I didn't know anything about the Cas Anvar drama behind the scenes, so I was caught off guard and genuinely destroyed when Alex died! Mourn the character, he deserves it...
Yeah same, I had no idea till today about the drama. I really liked Alex too 😔 I’m gonna miss the twang
It's my hope that Bobbie joins the Roci crew in space. With Alex gone, you need a Martian there to make Avasarala's words valid. It's also my hope that Clarissa become the new pilot for the Roci. She should do something more than just be Amos's friend. We know she can pilot, maybe just as good as Julie despite her father's opinion. I think she was just too distracted with revenge when she was piloting as Melba as well. Put her in, let's see what she can do! I mean, yeah, there's Bull, but it doesn't feel to me like he wants to be part of the crew.
I met Alt Shift X in Nashville Tennessee at Con of Thrones 2019. He was such a friendly and genuine person. We wound up at the same party the next night. That weekend still ranks as the best of my entire night. So thanks, Mr Shift X, for being a part of that.
I completely did not read the Martian ship as being destroyed as it went through the ring gate, I thought it was having some kind of out of space time experience like what happened to Dr. Okoye
I think it’s a bit ambiguous in the books until later, at first it’s just described as the weird time thing but it’s later revealed that the experience ended in their destruction/disappearance
Same, I thought it was just more detail of what Holden was talking about when he said he could feel the beings being disturbed when people transit the rings. Maybe ASX took the time freezing when Babbage drops the bracelet and the visual effects that happen afterward to be a similar destruction to that of the Arbogahst's. However afterward it shows the tail end of the ship finishing the transit from the side it went in on.
I haven't read the books so I'm just speculating here but Holden said there are some beings living in the quantum energy field or whatever dimension the rings apparently connect through to use as a wormhole right? So when time freezes when Babbage drops the bracelet, maybe it was just adjusting the viewer's perspective to that of the ring beings. Like they experience time differently. Then what looks like Babbage and Suaveterre being disintegrated is just what those beings are seeing, some weird ghost images of people and ships penetrating into their reality as the ships transit the ring. That scene was supposed to illustrate that it's pissing them off more and more each time.
Ships being destroyed randomly will be a major plot point next season
in the books, the reason Monica goes to Holden in the first place is to enlist him in an investigation on a number of ships disappearing when transiting the rings. It's called "going dutchman". They just "disappear".
It was a little weird to leave that detail out of the season, it causes confusion like this - but it also sorta makes sense for narrative purposes. Dont wanna sprawl the viewer's focus too much.
@barkingnoise Eek that's scary!
More Expanse videos please! Love this show and your detailed breakdowns.
It's no surprise so many GOT fans love this show. The lore is dense and book based and the writing it excellent
Really glad that ASX making about Expanse more, this channel was the first motivation to start watching the show.
Ah yes, Sparta. The ancient civilization that everyone thinks were total badasses. And then you realize that they were badasses for like a century and then became a joke. Too inflexible, too dogmatic, too ideologically gripped by their own perfection and superiority that they went extinct without a fight. Poetic that some Martians want to keep that ethos alive.
Also info indicated that the Spartans weren’t that much better than most soldiers of equivalent type at the time. Remember Thebes best soldiers beat Spartina best soldiers.
@Jon Manson soldier to soldier, they were superior. But their actual army size and limited capability held them back.
Sorry, but reality teaches us that career soldiers trained from birth are individually more effective than conscripted peasants.
Martians reminded me more of the soviet union and the cold war, with the UN representing the USA
@Elijah Herstal Yes, that is true in principle, but they were also unable to yield their own food (afaik even forbidden by law) and prone to drinking and partying, so Spartan peasants had more discipline and realistic outlook on life I guess. The Spartan society did a mistake by valuing not much more than military prowess
Wonderful summary. Thanks for your hard work. Filled some gaps in my understanding of the sequence of events.
"That was one hell of a ride" and "i am a leaf on the wind, watch me soar."
Spaceship pilot death speeches are always poetic.
I honestly stopped caring about Naomi being stuck in the ship without any means of communication at one point. That part went on forever
2 episodes?
I wonder if Amazon is rushing this show because it's not getting the viewers they'd hoped for. Always weary of shows which start to hard force sentimentality upon the audience. Seems to be an ugly trend which producers think will win them more awards eg. Star Trek Discovery. But the fans mostly hate it.
@Nicky B She was fridged for most of the season, then rendered incompetent, then Alex is killed for laughable "reasons" it was a bad season.
@Joshua Perry the season was great. The books are even better. They took Alex out bc they had to due to his sexual harassment allegations. But it’s ur opinion not mine.
yeah unfortunately the expanse can be a snooze fest sometimes which is why i kinda burned out during season 4
I just wish they had the crew honor Alex’s CHARACTER by having a lasagna dinner and a toast to him. Like they toasted Miller when he died.
@Shiggs132 the actor yes, not the charachter
The "mysterious alien structures" mentioned and shown at 2:06 is the Laconian Imperial Navy Destroyer the Gathering Storm. Season 6 is gonna be awesome!
Watching season 5 it didn't seem that crazy but looking bad it's honestly kinda nuts how much is going on.
At this point, Amazon themselves are downplaying the expanse. It should be their flagship show and should be advertised everywhere.
its because its being cancelled. But yes it was never marketered good and poor release schedule for both seasons really.
@Frank Spencer It's not being cancelled, ALCON Entertainment are ending it. When the funding and a studio come along with a budget big enough for the CGI and they can find a way to deal with the 30 year skip in the books, then they will continue past S6.
@2KOOLURATOOL Thats being cancelled....It is very rare in entertainment to see a show come back after its initial run. Very rare.
No funding, no studio? = a pipe dream. I could say my series outcasts will come back then mate haha. I got no money, and no studio but oh I am sure it will get picked up by the broadcaster again after a decade :)
@Frank Spencer Even so, it's still not cancelled. Cancelled is when a series/season ends and then fans get told that it had been cancelled and there won't be another season. We are getting a finalised and thought out final season.
These analyses are absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much for making them.
Correction: The Chetzemoka wasn't rigged to explode with the Augustin Gamerra code, the Roci was. the Chet just had a regular ol bomb
I'm still not convinced the shot we see of the 'red aliens' 'destroying' the Mars ship in the last scene we have. 1) I feel like those 2 characters have a lot more going for them, since the show took time to flesh them out. 2) What would be the purpose of destroying the ship, after letting the others ones through? 3) Maybe its not destroying the ship, but more learning about the humans going through. Especially since they more than likely just took the proto-molocule through on another ship. Perhaps they're tagging along?
I get that maybe because of Holden said to Fred, its Holden's theory? But again, I have serious doubts that the aliens destroyed the ship.
I guess we'll have to see next season if those actors show back up?
Love this show, thanks for keeping up with the tv show. Any chance on book videos?
That Martian ship was destroyed? I thought the aliens were just interacting with the ship as it went through the portal? Gonna have to watch that sequence again.
It's actually still not clear in the books what happens to the ship
I'm thinking the same. Like the Protomolecule didn't destroy but absorbed and recreated (e.g. Miller). Probably something similar happened there.
They dead
@Aleks I agree with you. The protomolecule absorbed Miller and he became part of that "entity" or "being" whatever it is. So it was able to recreate Miller in order to communicate with Holden. Something similar could happen to the Martians instead of just being killed and annihilated by an unknown force. But maybe they are and it was just for the FX at the end of the season...
I think it's destroyed, in the very last scene you see the ship's engines turn off as it's slowly disappearing, which means that the reactor powering them was destroyed, and not just transferred to Lakonia.
this will be fantastic to recap when season 6 hits, thank you!
This show is sooo amazing. The way it balances personal character complexities and the existential dread of space and the unknown. Along with the political misdeeds. Like the ppl of earth didn't deserve the attack. The ones who mistreated the belters where the politicians and military as well as the elites who also mistreated the everyday earthers and used the martians. In reality the real enemy of humanity is belief in their own self importance above compassion. It's also sad about Fred but he reminded me alot of Ned stark they both believed in their causes and honor but they underestimated the ruthlessness of their enemy which was their downfall. As well there's something Fred's security guy said earlier that got my attention. He noted that not every underdog is worth fighting for or righteous. Fred saw the belters as equals and even family but they could never see him as so because he always had this air about compromise and diplomacy which is an earther mentality in a sense. As well even after season 4 when the belters were allowed some integration they were still being treated as less than giving credence to Marcos belief that no matter what the belters do they will never be accepted as equals. It's sad to think about but this is a very good parallel to slavery, Jim crow leading to systemic racism and other marginalized bigotry. The earthers treated these ppl inferior for so long by the time bridges could have been mended under a common threat it was too late. In order for the human species to progress and survive we have to see ourselves as part of a collective valuing human life and knowledge, hard truths over all.
Keep up the awesome work! I’d love to see more vids on The Expanse!
Just finished this whole season - it's really good! Have to say, the scenes where Naomi is just whinging in the ship aggravated me a lot.
I looked up Lake Winnipesaukee on some maps and saw there is a town called Laconia near it. Clever people lol.
Laconia is actually the region on the Peloponnese peninsula originally inhabited by the Spartans. I think they named the planet for the Spartans but I could be wrong.
Edit*
I watched further and Spartans is referenced.
@Unclesanders Seems to be right. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laconia
It's most relevantly the name of the land the Spartans lived in.
Yeah I’m from Massachusetts those lakes are really nice
She was forced to go after that belter ship in season 4. She choose the lesser evil by disabling engine and searching for Marco. But that part in the story was odd because it was the earth's admiral who gave her the options and asked her to choose one, when she did he goes.. sike, jokes on you that was a bad pick and he's going to resign because he won't work under someone who throws lives away. Yeh no, you nupty, you gave her the option!
The Naomi on the ship portions of the show dragged on for me and the same for the Drummer portions, I love the characters but I had difficulty caring too much about what was going on with them.
I felt more for Avasarala and Holden than anybody. Amos was just a pleasure because Amos.
The reason Naomi's plight became so disinteresting, IMO, is because it went on for far too long. Everything in the show was moving fast until she got on board that ship, then it felt like the whole show ground to a halt for 3-4 episodes.
The reveal of what she was doing with the distress message was cool etc. but it didn't need to be as long as it was. It felt stretched out
The Drummer stuff was entirely shoved in from what I have been told. She is barely even mentioned in the book that this season is based on. It even felt extremely forced and underwhelming. It certainly didn't have that Ashford/Drummer love/hate thing going for it. It was just "Muh feels," 90% of the time and with people, we do not know or care about.
They probably inserted Drummer's arc, just to keep the actress, Cara Gee, in the show. I'm just speculating there, though.
@Punkster Drummer's arc is completely new. It is inspired by the book's Michio Pa (but even that is from book 6) And in the books, Michio starts out as Free Navy. However, they couldn't do too many Drummer scenes because the actress was pregnant at the time. Very pregnant, in fact. Her belter spacesuit only barely manages to hide it.
The issue that arises from the low number of Drummer scenes is that we don't get the required time to care for her crew. There's only a little bit of development with Oksana, and a sliver with Josep. But Bertold, Michio and Serge get zero character development. They just stand there playing pilot, cry-on-command and Marco-stan. Drummer's arc wasn't bad, but it most definitely was the weakest arc of this season. Shame because Drummer's arc in S4 was the best of that season.
Even back in S1 with Uncle Mateo, whom we only see for a couple minutes really got me caring for him when he went kamikaze on the Martians. The writers made me care for a drunk (and possible abusive) uncle with five minutes of screentime, but couldn't make me care when Serge got spaced after seeing him walk around for a whole season as a background character. On the other hand, they did a fantastic job with Cyn, though. I loved his character and genuinely teared up when he died.
@Fussfackel LOL. Sure, I sort of half agree with you there because when it kept playing, I thought to myself at the time; 'why would they have that continually looping like that, it must work into the plot, somehow?' So I tried to ignore it. Then it did.
If I didn't think that, I may have done the same as you did.
They must've been fully aware that playing that on repeat constantly would get irritating for the viewer, so, at least they had a pay off for it. If there wasn't one, I would've been far more annoyed by its presence.
What I found so frustrating was; as soon as Naomi got on board that ship the whole show just seemed to grind to a halt. There was barely enough content there to fill one, maybe two episodes but it dragged on right through to the finale.
I just wish they wouldn't artificially lengthening the story, just to have that grand finale for TV all the time. Where no one does much until the last episode.
It ruins immersion for me. Where characters don't logically state things when they should, just to have the dramatic reveal later on.
Look at the earlier seasons, there was always something going on, with big reveals taking place mid-season where the story would logically go and not grind to a halt to make sure Mystery X is revealed in Episode 10.
@STR33TSofJUST1C3 Yes, Drummer's arcs have been quite interesting until this last season.
I did not know she was pregnant but that would've been a great reason to not have that dull story in the show but of course, it was likely written long before they knew what was happening with her and contracts etc.
Cyn was great, Inaros was too when he wasn't interacting with him and Naomi's son. He should have been someone else to care for but I just didn't, sadly.
Yes, I ended up liking Serge but that was after why I realised why he spaced his nephew, it wasn't to be a d*** but to save him from a suicide mission.
Dude I’m not sure the Martian ship was destroyed. I think it’s just showing us the vision Holden says he sees every time he passes through the rings.
Amos reminds me alot of Guts from berserk. He is cold and uncaring because he thinks that is who he is dark and evil but the reality is when faced with true evil or true malice he isn't. Deep down he is a good person.
This was a fantastic season.
god i loved the foreshadowing they did for laconia in s4 and s5
Did anyone ever say why the original Arjun left the show? I'd thought he died, but he's still acting so I'm very confused as to why this change was needed.
Wait the Martian ship was destroyed? I thought the show was just showing the phenomenon that Holden was describing to Fred in the first episode of the season.
Yep it was destroyed by the phenomenon that Holden was explaining
Damn, Naomi on the Chetzemonke has to be some of the most harrowing TV I've watched. I was half expecting her to give up and pull one of the anti-tamper devices before Alex and Bobby got too close. Great acting from Dominique Tipper.
Thanks to Amazon Prime Video UK for sponsoring these videos! czcams.com/channels/wSIJCMWZC5GDM59wj7pMsg.html
James S.A. Corey said this is a "great video"! twitter.com/jamessacorey/status/1357184976471564289
Please do more AWOIAF commentary mate
Ahh that's the reason to not mention the controversy behind Alex's death. Fair onr
Too bad you sold out to Amazon, but I get that they have the $$$ so... you gotta eat, right. Still, good videos, and everyone has a price.
@dashdot meh he obviously didn't mention it since its partnered with amazon but at the same time would the video be any different otherwise?
If he hadn't partnered with them he'd just probably say that "Alex was killed off because of stuff done in his personal life, look it up if you want"
The video would be pretty much the exact same so fair play to him
Thanks again for a great season recap.gonna read the books now.
The Rocci was almost destroyed by Naomi using her computer code. Naomi herself was never in any danger from her own computer code, that isn't how they rigged thethat was just using traditional explosives
Alex was 100% killed off in this strange and abrupt way because the actor is facing sexual harassment charges... I found Alex death absurdly abrupt and did not even believe it until they blew the razorback.
Even though you once slammed me for being an old woman and I should watch out for a heart attack when I made a mistake in a comment, I still watch. I love The Expanse and it didn't quite give the expected heart attack. You wrap up the season quite succinctly.
This is by far the best series I have ever watched. Cinematic level visuals throughout. Amazing.
Will they have a season 6. They gotta finish this. I been there from season 1. This was beautiful the way you broke it down. You had to really watch the show to understand what's going on. 👍🏿💝💃🏿🌻🥂
The season was a bit of a snore but makes sense to set up the awesomeness to come
I like the part where you were like “remember the basis for the whole story?”
These videos are always so fantastic. ❤️👍
I gotta admit, I wouldnt watch these complex shows cause i just dont have the time to binge it. However theses season summaries are really fun to watch. Its fun to see the whole picture of what is going on. Id almost feel like its a whole essay with the central theme of the story. Thank you again.
Was it Naomis code that was used on the Chezmoka? I thought it was her code that was about to blow up Roci.
Absolutely right. Alt Shift X didn't get it right. Chetzemoka didn't have any malicious code, it literally was rigged with proximity mines up to the brim - looked like every inner wall had at least one - those red triangles with bunches of wires coming out of them. The Idea was simple: anything as big as Rocinante comes close, enters the blast zone, and Chetzemoka goes boom, sending everything around it straight to hell. Plus the ship was spiraling 'cause Naomi broke a fuel line valve and activated one of the RCS thrusters. That's why Alex had some much trouble getting Bobbie close and picking her up...
Thanks... I was gonna do a season5 rewatch... You saved me a lot of time...
Everytime i watch your videos i realize that i miss 90% of the points of the show
Me when Cyn dies: Aww that’s so sad I liked him.
Me when Karal dies: *W H E E S E*
Yeah, she was insufferable. She had all of the convictions of Marko, but without any of the Charisma. I think that was a good contrast, to implicitly criticise Marko's brutality.
Avasaralla’s voice sounds like whiskey, leather and pipe smoke
It’s a very unique voice to say the least. Sometimes I can’t stand it, other times her voice is the best on the damn show!
🤣🤣🤣 you ain’t never lied!!
best thing of the whole show
I'll be honest, SG1/Atlantis has been my favorite sci fi for almost 20 years, way better than wars and even DS9/next gen
So i definitely enjoyed Dark Matter waaay more than expanse when they were airing simultaneously, expanse is obviously way more dense but not nearly as much of a Stargate/mass effect style sci Fi
But once dark matter ended and i truly have expanse a chance i definitely loved it, being a true sci fi light-years better than the dumpster fire of current Trek haha
Such a great season
Evidently I missed a few things, thank you for bringing them to light.
Wait. The Marian ship was just straight up destroyed? They really killed off a potentially big political player in a future season just like that before he could make an impact to the story. This is like, what if they had Marco killed my Ashford at the end of season 4.
Hype for season six and finally seeing Duarte in live action, that said I really wish Tim DeKay had been chosen to play Duarte, he’s just so perfect for the roll.
Pretty sure they won't do Duarte, they have to finish Marco first and deal with the consequences of the massive exodus. Duarte won't appear before season 7 I think, or whatever follow up TV show there is.
@Thibaut Narme Duarte appears in Nemesis Games, and was name dropped in the last episode, I’d be shocked if we didn’t get him in season six, I mean we got Marco in season four.
Wasn't duarte killed by the aliens in the last episode
@Primexon Nah, that was his second, Sauveterre.
@Cagliostro81 I tried to avoid book reference in my comment to avoid spoiler. Duarte's "screen time" in book 5 is minimal, even though it's awesome and a great seed for book 7 and 8 (and 9?). I mean he could appear but the time line would really be sped up. So if he does I feel like it's be at the end of the season like Marco was to set him up in the universe, more than actually telling his story.
I like that you used a pic of the real Arjun instead of that stranger who was never Arjun.
"...and Bobby does heroic Bobby things..." I nearly choked on my coffee !
9:09 I was more surprised that Cyn somehow didn't survive. He was right next to the airlock, only a few seconds without oxygen, and there should've been more than enough people and equipment around him to help even in case he lost consciousness ._.
It just felt like a senseless, pointless death to me, fabricated to make us feel sorry for him.
The difference is that Cyn still had air in his lungs which isn't good in a vacuum, longer explanation here: czcams.com/video/Jy0299W67cU/video.html
Cyn didn’t exhale before the airlock opened like Naomi did, his lungs would have ruptured from the rapid decompression. His arm was also dangling out the airlock door which is why it stopped closing when Filip likely hit the button from the other side. Filip would have to find a way to override the door, crushing Cyn’s arm, adding further trauma, and then manage to move him to an autodoc within a minute or so for any hope of recovery without significant brain damage. Filip is alone in the airlock room, so he’d have to get help right away too. Long shot.
Thank you for making videos on The Expanse. It's hard to find good reviews/content on this show. I understand why it isn't popular, you have to force yourself to enjoy the TV show if you have no previous knowledge of the universe of The Expanse. But, once you can get past the bad acting, poor storytelling and infuriating dialogue, it's impossible to not be amazed by the world-building and conflict. Thankfully the show gets better as it goes on, even with some bumps and unlikable performances, the love of it all will blind you of your dislikes. I believe I will enjoy re-watching the show much more than watching it the first time.
Thanks again for this video, it filled in the holes.
Bad acting? Whose? The first season is slow as heck and sometimes feels claustrophobic and I have some complaints about some characters that started it all, I'll explain in a sec, but I thought everyone acted well. The writers of the show are the book writers.
Anyway, I didnt understand Julie Mao running to save the belters, when earth peopld were in extremely horrible state as well. Poor people eveeywhere, sleeping in the sewage tunnels, no work, so why did she specifically go to the belters. A bit far fetched, I think, because she's portrayed as someone who weeps for the little guy, but didnt much care about the poor and homeless at earth?
I've never watched this show and never intend to, but damn. I love your vids and I've seen every one of your expanse ones haha
Yes another ASX video covering The Expanse. Happy times
Top tier content as usual...
I appreciate the picture of the one true Arjun with a tiny one of s4 fake Arjun in the corner.
Thank you ! And thank you for staying loyal to the true and only Arjun :D
There's something about Keon Alexander's face that makes him so watchable!!
Love this show
Another fantastic video. Cheers, my man.
"Suplexed down an elevator shaft" is not a phrase I ever thought I'd encounter.
"the once and future queen" is a such a cool line.
Yes, love Expanse content
Did Arjun actor change from season 1 or or did we only first start to see him last season?
Every season of the Expanse explained: Look, I don't like you, and you don't like me, but we have to put that aside to accomplish (fill in task).
Sounds like life...UN, Confederate States...etc
That's all of human history in a nutshell.
"Life is a negotiation. We all want. We all give - to get what we want." -Mordin Solus
:)
@Yannik L. dammit... now I HAVE TO play the trilogy again
My peeeeople! Season 4 was literally The 100
I know this didn't get as many views but I really hope you will cover next season too.
Great analysis!
I legit did not even realize Alex died. Wtf
Finally something decent to watch.
The martian ship was destroyed? I didn't get it that way at all... I thought it was just another freeze frame, showing how this other aliens preseve passing humans ships.
The ship's engines are seen turning off as it is going through.
@Bruce do you mean like explode or just stop moving?
Yeah, pretty sure they just spoiled the mystery ending of that season for those of us who haven't read ahead in the books.
@Joshua Walker well what are we watching those videos without having read the books anyway :D I guess I should read book 2 faster
@HerrFenrisWolf
The beginning of the video they said they weren't going to spoil anything or tell us anything from the books. I've watched every season. As long as they only spoke about what has happened on the show they couldn't spoil anything.
The writers should go explain to Lucasfilm how scifi works once the show is over.
I'm assuming your sponsorship with Amazon is why you can't be honest about Alex's death. I get why they had to kill him off, I just wish they would be honest about it and stop pretending like it was the plan all along.
9:31 are you sure? there was a lot of explosives around the ship for a reactor exploit explosion...
Same with ship that went dutchman, can we rly say it was destroyed?
Great show!
I don't think Alex's death was fitting. It's bullshit that a character has to be killed because the actor's behavior. It's not fair to the fans. They had no problem recasting Arjun so why not Alex? Anvar's performace would be hard to duplicate but they should have just got Kumail Nanjiani to take on the role. I mean look at the guy he's kinda had a glo-up and I think would fit in Alex's hero role just fine.
Marco isn't just a "bad guy version of Holden," he's basically Space Hitler.
I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar. RIP Kamal
You gonna skip over the other 9 episodes? :( Too bad, love your commentary on the Expanse!
Amazon only paid him for a few videos I guess
Who is going to fly the Roci next season? Are they going to make Peaches the new pilot instead of an assistant mechanic?
Bull has the nod
Ok I wasn't sure if the ship was destroyed or that how that ring gate just worked.
This season was so intense, i nearly got a stroke
Too soon 😭
That was one hell of a ride.
savage
Alex did
Did Marco get Sol? I always thought he made a deal to control the Slow Zone/Ring space?
He is/is trying to control the ring system entirely including the Sol ring, he isn't in control of the inner planets but he has gained control of the rings and the ring space/slow zone.
Wait, does this mean there'll be a season 6?
Yes the final season is the sixth.
The bad guys really punched hard thsi season. Everyone but Marco suffered. S6, Marco falls
14:24 that Arjun meme was perfect
New Arjun not my Arjun...
perfection indeed 👌😂😂😂
I forgot they changed actors
Will always love Brian George’s Pizzaville radio ads. “Seven Free Sex Free Sex Free Sex” 😆
alex dying literally killed the series!
Season 5 was great, except for Alex's death. That's going to taint the show forever.
Glad to see Amazon took notice of you!
im still pissed at how this show portrayed Alex death, it has the same feel as how Admiral Ackbar died in Last Jedi
Im glad amazon is sponsoring more expanse videos because thats the only time we get any....
