It would seem that *Acacia longifolia* and *Casuarina sp* are the species of choice for colonising old railways. I guess they do well in ballast. This makes sense, as Casuarina, at least, can grow in gravelly/sandy river banks.

Chullora, the top of the old Elcar Branch. If you know where Elcar was situated, the abandoned section runs from just past the muck (spoil) sidings around behind Sydney Freight Terminal (Trackfast) past the old Elcar site and does a big left bend towards McWilliams Wines and Anzac Avenue, Greenacre. I hope that this helps?

@@larsjuhlin6907there’s still a far bit of track buried in scrub and bush further back from this but it’s too hard to get into. I’ll probably go back and follow that sometime
