2023 is a year for turning over a new leaf and that means a bunch of things are changing in my every day carry. I am stoked to show you all the new stuff that has landed in my pocket at the beginning of the year but also be prepared for some tried and true favorites to make a return. My EDC is always changing so this is what I am carrying at the start of 2023.

I work with a guy that EDC's a sling shot. He's kinda an old soul, and a dang good shot with it. We live in rattlesnake country, and he loves to eat them. He is a wealth of knowledge! We are always out in nature for our job and this guy will point out all sorts of vegetation and tell you the medicinal properties and if it's edible (while picking it up and eating it) Real cool dude!
I work with a guy that EDC’s a bazooka. He‘s kinda ballsy, and a dang good shot with it. We live in terrorist country and he loves to eat taliban.
You have to go watch Carolina camera- the slingshot man. You will like it trust me.
@@Benjalotus it's hand made. It's not a conventional sling shot. It's just one foot if rubber tubing that he tied a leather patch to one end with some string.
Never leave home without mine haha 28 now
I have a wrist rocket from daisy.
Zac in The Wild > Best Damn EDC
Love both but this channel feels top-tier and genuine. It’s hard to describe but feels like from 13mins I’ve gotten more legitimate information then other channels do in 30-40+mins videos.
Shhhhh that’s the comparison we don’t want to make 😅
idk it seems like BDEDC is starting to step away from focusing on the subject while Zac has dived deep in. Not a great comparison tbh
That’s an obvious
Absolutely this. You see it a lot as channels grow. They go from recommending affordable, good quality stuff to $500 knives and $300 pens for EDC.
@@nathski22 Yup, his channel is essentially the QVC equivalent of EDC, or has become that recently. It used to be a great channel for actual people, not just the people buying titanium paperclips for Instagram.
Thanks for all the awesome content throught the years Jamie and Zak!
Thanks for tuning in👊
I use the Alpaka elements tech case daily and have been loving it so far, Glad to see a content creator shout them out for one of their products!
Been carrying a Fenix E18R v2.0 for about a month now and its become my all time favorite edc light. Its small, light weight, but can be extremely bright for it's size. Can also be very dim (which is what I mostly use) to save battery. Seems to be super durable, and has a good clip too. This is my first Fenix
I love watching Zacs videos because with all his work experiences changing jobs and different things he works on he carries practical gear that he knows is going to work and passes on what he loves about each piece of gear and tools watching his videos constantly gets me to rethink my EDC
Thank you so much for the kind words!
@@zacinthewildRelatively new to the channel… definitely interested in seeing what you carry in your backpack!
Thanks again Zac! Clear, honest and practical content as usual.
Love to see pocket fixed blades starting to become more popular 🤘🏼
Thanks for another great video Zac and Jamie. Always happy when I see a new one waiting for me to watch. You guys are doing great with getting the content out here for us viewers to enjoy. 🤙🏽
Really appreciate it!
You guys are one of my all time favorite channels! Keep it up!
Thank you! More coming👊
That competition sling shot is a Simpleshot Scout I believe. I love hearing you say you're going to add a slingshot to your edc, it's a ton of fun! I'm 36 and got into slingshots only a year or so ago and find that it comes out to entertain people as often as my other items come out to be genuinely used. I'm really looking forward to your knife storage video as I've been looking into options recently myself. I really love the channel, Zac! Keep it up!
I carry a buck 110 slim pro, an olight arkfeld in a 3d printed belt holster made by hold my gear, a Zippo with butane gas insert, a Leatherman wingman in a kydex belt holster, a fisher space pen and a Milwaukee permanent marker. I'm really liking my new olight arkfeld. It's really bright, 1000 lumens, for work or taking the dogs out at night while also having a 60 lumen setting for moving around the house or dark bedroom at night without blinding myself. The laser is also just fun to play with
Fun video. Good transparency. I'm with you guys. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the reviews. I appreciate that you review affordable and higher level gear. You also got me hooked on We and Civivi knives at bhq.
Thanks for the great EDC ideas! Always looking to tweak my carry. I’ve officially reached the point where I have seasonal carry.
Glad it was helpful!
Always much enjoyed Zac and Jamie - this kind of ties into your everyday backpack you mentioned at the end of your video.
I just put together an emergency survival back pack. This was actually recommended during a church service (during Covid pandemic) this past winter, but I never got around to it. It makes great sense, you never know when an emergency or catastrophic event will occur- greatly enjoyed the process, and it actually took a lot of thought and planning. I still feel I am missing some important gear though.
I would love to see a video about your perfect emergency/survival backpack - everyone should have one. Thank you! Great video!
Absolutely dig these videos. I also would love to see your edc bag.
My edc changes quite often due to having different gear but having a knife, multi tool and flashlight are staples for me.
Keep up the grind🤟
I love pocket carry fixed blades for EDC. That Pete's Pirate knife is really sweet looking.
Really enjoying the channel so far. Can’t wait for the next video
Great video! Thanks 🙏
I like your slingshot idea. And they are very useful in certain situations like dogs or other creatures that might like to bother us.
Woot WE & Civivi!
This was a cool video man, nicely done! Really wish I could get my hands on one of those Pete’s pirates knife fixed blades.. looks perfect for EDC! Thanks for a fun video
Quad lock cases are amazing. Been using then for years. So great. Car mount, bike mount, arm band for runs and the ring that's used to hold it or as a stand. They are so versatile. Love quad lock.
Love quad lock!
When I was in college, I had a year of zoom classes, and I got really bored and found a slingshot my dad made for me. Picked it up and just started plinking in my room for fun (not recommended) during my zoom classes, ever since then I started carrying a slingshot. I've been rocking the TOPs mini sling for a while now, and I have come to really enjoy it! While I always have a deck of cards in my backpack, its nice to change up what you (and your friends) are doing when there is dead time.
So rad! I used to carry dice around for fun little games with buddies too.
Great video mate. I made my first one today showing my own EDC tools and pouch.
I have a viperade pouch and use the Knipex Cobra XS pliers. Alongside other EDC tools.
Love the channel and it's inspired me to start my own.
Waiting on the Alpaka rig you've got. I let them know I found it on your channel. Keep up the great work.
Very cool update ✌️
Thanks Zac, I'll be getting the knife and the pouch
Great edc. Looking forward to that edc fixed blades compilation. I'm currently on the hunt for one.
Nice stuff!
Another good one. Thank you.
Thank you!
I love your videos. One of the best channels going
Zac your doing a great job man. Love the videos and the way you approach things. Thank you. Hope your well.
Thanks man! All good here hope the same for you🤘
Looks like a simpleshot slingshot that you have. I have two from them and they are awesome. Maybe I should think about adding one to my edc. Thanks for the video 👍
Love the sling shot idea !!!
I'm in love with my CJRB Pyrite! It's such a great value at $50, and I highly recommend the stonewash finish version. It's a nearly perfect EDC folder!
It really is so good!
Great video Zac! I like that fixed blade dude. I bought the Esee azula II because of the kick ass sheath that's cross draw compatible and I absolutely love it.
Awsome video! And liking future fixed blade video.
I’m real excited for the fixed blade video!
Super hype for the knife storage video!!!
Next week! It should be a good one🤘
The 5 inch cobras in a LNW leather sleeve is perfection. I’ve been carrying my Zaan since BSW
I carry a lot of the same tools, sub. First time seeing your channel, it was chill and to the point.
I've used a few of the Alpaka pouches. They're great!
Love the video Zac, I've had to cut back my watching of EDC & knife CZcams videos because every time I watch these damn video's I want new EDC gear. I already have an Alpaka sling, Olight, Knipex Pliers, iPhone and a few Big Idea pens. Keep up the terrific videos, I never miss one.
Really means a lot! Glad you’ve found some good gear selections😁
Awesome!
The pocketable fixies i have been eyeballing, hopefully on your list too: benchmade flyway, smith and sons shoal, hiroaki ohta, esee camplore, civivi circulus, white river exodus 3.0, white river tom mack cape, white river small game
Love the slingshot!! Everybody should learn and carry one
I have that Tops slingshot in my Garage Built Gear mighty pouch and I also have a little tin to hold about 9 steel ball ammo. Been carrying that for a year or so and it's fun to take it out and plink objects when you're in a more secluded area.
I carry a Tesseract Tactical NF1, O-Light Baton 3, Knipex Cobra 4” on my person. Keep a Para 2 and Yojimbo 2 in my sling pack. Looking for my first fixed blade carry. Looking forward to your video on that. Mad love for the channel! Thanks!
I always enjoy your videos and appreciate seeing other guy's EDC. I couldn't imagine carrying something the size of that loaded pouch in my pocket, but my sling bag probably isn't for everyone either, haha. I will likely try out that Gerber multi tool though.
The gerber tool is pretty handy for sure! I’m going to start doing some sling testing soon🤘😁
Hair tie hero! LOVE it. Especially with a granddaughter. I have a hair tie always. You rule
Totally support EDC slingshot. SimpleShot Scout LT, great sling. Also fun to do w/ the kids.
keep it going Zac.
Love my alpaca pouch too, i just added a carabiner and have it every day in my back pocket
Zac, I love the channel and vids! I’ve been thinking about scout carry...seems like a great out-of-the-way option... more for convenience, not self defense or tactical reasons. I’m looking into smaller fixed blades...6”- 7” total. You mention it every now and then...How about a dedicated video?
Keep up the amazing content!
603!!!
7:14 Dude, I love that hack! Been using it ever since I saw it in one of your videos and let me tell you - it's a life and time saver! So convenient and easy, takes little to no space and works wonderfully. I do however tie mine to the intermediary lanyard loop (as in loop that attaches to a lanyard's or key chain's carabiner) I attached to my flashlight, which also adds more "handle" to my Fenix E01 v2.0
Thank you for this trick, I love it!
I lived on a farm in the midwest as a kid. I always had a slingshot in my back pocket and a front pocket full of hard feed corn. The slingshot was the plain old Boy Scout slingshot from the early '70s, a basic Y cut out of a 1x4 plank. The corn was the perfect ammo for taking out rats around the barn. When I was in first grade I got tree'd by a pack of feral dogs about a mile back in the woods, slingshot and corn cleared them out. Even edc'd back then with the Boy Scout folding knife, the slingshot and a hoof hook/knife for the horses.
I've been trying to edc a fixed blade for the last year or two. I really like that Pete's knife. I recently bought a MKM Makro. And I've been really impressed with it. That and the white river backpacker pro.
You might wanna check out the Primitive Woodsman Guide knife. It's on my list, it looks awesome. Perfect size for small fixed blade.
Change is good! Love using a in pocket fixed blade. I always carry a fixed blade in my left pocket for harder use tasks. I recommend a Jakebcreates Chikadee by Jakeb Ginsberg. Great size and awesome steels🤙🏼
Going to check them out🤘
That particular organizer is very very good.
It is by far my favorite!
I carry the Olight I3T E0S. It's a great light for the price. Nice to see you trying it
Yeah WE/Civivi for the sponsorship! 💜
Great people!
I had never heard of this channel or Civivi until the last month…now I own two Civivi’s. That’s a worthwhile sponsor haha
I3tos has been my daily banger for a few years. I’ve been considering replacing it recently. Excited to see a video on a few different options
Love that CJRB pyrite. I want the premium model with the titanium frame and micarta inlays. Such a gorgeous knife and a very useful and versatile design. Love it!
It is an awesome one!
@@zacinthewild - yeah that's my kind of knife!
Good stuff Zac👍 I just recently started EDC'ing a flashlight and now won't go anywhere without it. It's the 500 lumen Milwaukee rechargeable magnetic EDC light with dual clip. Great piece. Other than that, I always have a variety of different knives on me. I change them out every few days.
I now have to get the Milwaukee light!!!!😁
Backpack EDC = a GO!
- Serenity Prayer dog tag
- Classic Brushed Chrome Armor Zippo lighter
- Chapstick Classic Original Lip Balm
- Victorinox Fieldmaster Swiss Army knife
- House keys and 9mm bullet keychain on a Nite Ize
G-Series Dual Chamber Carabiner
- Hav-A-Hank Bandanna
(in my pockets on days off when my pants actually have pockets.)
I carry a Streamlight Stylus Pro, Crescent Mini Pliers and a Spyderco Tenacious in my purse/bag -
Hey Zac and Jamie, I would love to see videos discussing the best in-pocket fixed blade knife options and a modern traditional slip joint video.
I'm carrying a Leatherman Free P2 (My go-to multitool for years now!), an Olight Arkfeld, a Fisher Space Pen Astronaut, a Boker Kwaiken Button Lock (one of my latest favorite knives in my rotation), and my Urban Survival EDC pouch!
Great versatile carry!
Yes, let's see the EDC backpack setup and gear list!
Have really come to appreciate the small fixed blades from Reiff Knives - F3 EDC & F3XC in CPM3V
Would love to see you review one.
Haven’t got eyes on these yet! Going to check them out👊
This channel is killer Zach. Bravo
Thank you so much!
Woohoo!! Love your videos
Thanks so much!🙏
Another great video Zac and Jamie! That Pete’s pirate life fixed blade is really awesome, I haven’t carried a daily fixed blade before but I’ve been looking for a good one for months now. After seeing your video when you guys went to tops and you should your alpaca pocket organizer I went on the hunt for one for myself, I found a company on Etsy called leattweed out of Ukrainian that make a big selection of different size canvas organizers, I got one about the size you have Zac and I’ve had it about three or four weeks now and I love it. Thanks for the green content.
Awesome! I’m going to have to check them out👊
Nice. I carry a simple shot, cheap accurate great and for passing time while waiting for something.
Can't wait to see the upcoming videos on some of the gear. Made the mistake of falling down the OTF rabbit hole looking at the shootout or the Axial shift. Most of the rest of my edc is set how i like
OTF’s are a deep rabbit hole for sure😁
They’re also illegal to carry in New York State.
@@eddiecastellana9339 lucky for me I live in Alaska where it's legal
First off I’ve loved your contacts and first found you on Blade HQ. And absolutely do a video on what’s in your EDC bag.
Been experimenting with carrying a small fixed blade more often recently. Really loving the Bird and Game from Cold Steel (neck knife), but I finally found a CRKT knife that I like: the Razel. Very unique shape, awesome sheath, high value materials for budget price, and it looks good to boot.
Also +1 for the o-light AA flashlight. Right now I prefer the simplicity of an alkaline battery pocket light, but one day I may switch to rechargeable when USB C is more common in the budget categories
Man the lighting is perfect in the video. Tell Jamie he is the best! Any updates on Fort Wild any time soon?
Great video!!! Would love to see a video about your backpack and slingshot!!
Kind of funny. Just let my buddy at work have my Comspirator and started carrying a Civivi fixed blade Elementum. It’s a little long but I’ve enjoyed carrying it more then I thought. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
I really like that Elementum Fixed blade!
Zac, my dude. Great to see your setup! Might I HIGHLY recommend you try out the Acebeam Pokelit AA in place of your i3T EOS, I’ve just swapped them out and it’s an absolute game-changer. It has a memory function that remembers your preferred setting (for me that’s the medium beam which is 190 lumens, a little more than the high setting on the i3T), it has a moonlight that’s like 1 lumen and a high that’s 550 for 30 seconds and then drops down to about 350). I’ve not looked back since changing, and though its slightly larger, the versatility you get over the i3T is INSANE! Anyway, nice to see your updated EDC. Thanks again!
Hey Zac , I like to carry the same sized fixed horizontal next to the belt buckle . I just find it easier to carry that way and it’s out of the way entirely . Heck yeah dude , love the civivi knives 🔪. Thanks for helping out homie Zac 😊.
Great carry option for sure!
I decided to start carrying a hair tie on my flashlight after you first mentioned it a few years ago when you were at BHQ. since then I've changed that to 3 or 4 hair ties in my pocket pouch because I have a wife and 2 daughters that inevitably need hair ties on occasion.
Shout out to Pete! I love the knife and can't wait till his flipper arrives.
He is crushing it!
@@zacinthewild I was lucky enough to get both of them. They look amazing, I just wish the blade was a little bit longer on them. I can't wait to see what else he puts out.
Not sure if someone replied on the slingshot, but the brand is Simpleshot. Picked some up last year from them and we have a lot of fun with them. Very accurate and I haven't found a better build quality for the price.
Love the content Zac. If you haven’t tried it already the O light “Arkfeld” is my new EDC flashlight. It’s nicer to carry because of its shape and has a built in laser to point out things from a distance. Be careful with that slingshot you can take out an eye with that thing! 😂
Great suggestion and warning😁
Ranger band around the flashlight also works for me. The band gives it some grip and is a little neater to look at.
Love it!
I really like my Ti Maratac AAA light, it's super small but gets really bright for it's size, and the run time is good, that's on me all the time. I have a Wuben X0 clipped to the strap of my junk bag so I can have hands free lighting if I need it.
Been waiting on this update!
That's an awesome fixed blade, looks bad a**
I've been wanting to try the alpaca organizer, but it's hard to not use my hitch and timber organizers lol
BID is some awesome guys with cool pens and tools, I'm a pocket pro kind of guy
Thanks for checking it out!
I can't live without a flashlight. Love the hair tie glasses hack
gotta get one of those PPKs. that thing is very cool!
Hey Zac try tossing in a 10440 cell into the i3t 👍 nice rechargeable option that bumps up the output. I daily an i3 as well and love it with that battery setup. Keep up the great work!
Love my quad lock, especially for motorcycle mounting. You need to get the quad lock finger ring. I use it so much.
Just today I got a new addition to my EDC a custom Victorinox knife all the way from Poland. Got it from a dear friend of mine.
I was a folder freak forever, but I actually prefer fixed now. That is a really sweet little rig. Finally, someone did a sheet right.
The i3T is a decent little flashlight. It's not what goes in my pocket because I like something smaller and rechargeable (so I've got an i1r2 pro I carry) but the i3T is what stay in my coat pocket for dog walking or for walking in the dark. I often have a baseball or trucker hat with me so having something with a duel direction clip means I've got a headlamp
My edc consistently is the “core 4”: traditional slipjoint like GEC, retro 51 pen, lumintop tool AA, and a zippo.
I’ll occasionally add a small fixed blade or modern folder. The lumintop tool AA is a no BS flashlight that takes a normal battery. Once I got over the steel/materials/fidget factor war of modern folders I’ve enjoyed carrying traditionals more. Plus leather makers are abundant and keeping a knife in a custom pocket slip allows it to reflect my own interests/personality. The retro 51 pen and zippo are another way to add personality.
Damn that Petes Pirate in pocket full blade is not only cool-looking it's a cool idea
It is a great one!
Great video, and I definitely recommend getting a vero engineering fulcrum. Especially since you pry a lot
My edc as of late- my Bugout CF elite, my Victorinox Farmer X, then I have been carrying a white River Knives ATK- a wonderful edc fixed blade. I added some paracord to it. But for an American made S35VN steel knife at $100 is great!
