+RunRobotRun911 I miss the times when you went to someones home and he had a console with games you never played. You would them find out about the amazing world of games you never played.
Nowdays you just get the same games as on PC but with lower fps, resolution and a graphical downgrade that reminds you why you never bought a console.
Then you look at the smile of the poor bastard that is enjoying the console version of the game and hopelessly try to make an effort to look amazed by the pile of sh*t that your eyeballs are forced to look at.
You go back home and cant enjoy your amazing PC because you are still sad about your friend, but then you remember he is actually happy with that sh*t and paying for sub quality games that make game developers get lazy and downgrade the PC versiona s well, and your sadness suddenly turns into rage.
Unable to control+alt+delete your emotions you decide that the only course of action is to destroy your friends enjoyment so that he joins the PC master race.
And... thats how We ended up in the internet :D.

***** More accurately, exclusive games are just being held hostage by consoles. If you shell out for a console just to play X or Y game, you're playing right into MS/Sony's hands which will encourage them to keep trying to bribe developers and keep those games exclusive to their platform. The whole thing is anti-consumer as fuck.

I still play Spider-Man 2, Kingdom Hearts, and Star Wars Battlefront. They're all games that don't need high-quality graphics to make them good games. They have something that far surpasses that; badass game play. When you look back at a good game you don't remember it for its quality, you remember it for the game play and occasionally the storyline.

Funny story. I recently watched an Extra Credits video about the videogame Journey, and it got me interested in finally trying to catch up with the games industry by buying a relatively recent console. So I headed to CEX (Basically like Gamestop for the UK) and found that they were selling 2nd hand PS3s for £90, 2nd hand Xbox360s for £50, and Wiis for £25. How were they able to sell them at such low prices?
Well, according to the shopkeeper, it was because everyone was trading in their previous-gen consoles to help pay for a next-gen one. However, with the rather atrocious state the next-gen was in in terms of consoles and games, everyone was eager to buy back their old consoles. So supply and demand were both enormous for previous-gen consoles, so they could afford to sell them cheap.
And aside from a few freezes and graphical glitches (Though to be fair the games were also 2nd-hand, so maybe it was just a messy disk), my new 2nd-hand PS3 has been handling pretty well, even if finding co-op games for me and my friend-who-doesn't-like-shooting-games to play has been a bit tough (In hindsight, maybe a Wii would have been better in that regard :P )

I would think EA refusing to make WiiU titles would be a good thing. A console that doesn't have their fucknugget games would actually spark my interest.
As for PS4 and Xbox Juan, I'll get the PS4...when it starts releasing some actual fucking exclusives because let's be fair, out of Sony and Microsoft, Sony has always been leagues ahead with both quantity AND quality whilst MS has trailed behind with same old Halo games and the fact morons think CoD is an Xbox exclusive...and it doesn't force me to pay extra for that camera I don't fucking want.
3DS has also built up a nice library of games since release, and since I've stayed away from Nintendo since they released that fantastic pile of shit the 'Wii', more copy + paste Zelda and Mario games doesn't seem that bad since I've not played those dead horses in about 10 years. You might say they feel 'fresh' since all I've mostly seen are FPS games covered in brown. It's sort of nice to see seizure educing amounts of color for once and a nice plot about saving a princess rather than "there's a war, shoot these bad guys from behind this wall you beefcake man hunk".
WiiU is pointless though since Nintendo has this fantastic idea of releasing WiiU games on the 3DS as well, which totally stops me needing a WiiU since I can already play it's god damn games.
PC? Eh, mostly chock full of either:
    - Multiplatform games I can play on console. They might have lesser graphics but I couldn't care less if I'm enjoying the experience. The difference isn't exactly blowing my dick off with leagues of superiority.
    - Pretentious fucking indie games that try so god damn hard to portray a deep, emotional message and surviving solely on one, mediocre gameplay mechanic.
    - Throwaway indie games that are fun for 5 minutes and last 10 minutes that I'll forget about instantly.
    - Retro based indie games that use nothing but nostalgia to sell the game whilst pretending they have innovative new ideas when in reality, they're just ideas we've forgotten about since the SNES was released x amount of years ago.
    - 400,000 god damn minecraft and DayZ clones.
    - MMO's and RTS's
I don't exactly find myself rushing to get a £1000 gaming PC when all it's really going to be used for are one or two MMO and RTS games that I like and the rare indie game that is actually fun and interesting among the piles of shit that an open platform such as the PC allows.

    With a PS4:
    $400 for the system
    $60 for an extra controller
    $800 for 20 games
$300 for 5 years of PS plus
    Total: $1560
And then when the lifecycle of the console is over you have to buy it all over again.
    With a PC:
    $400-800 for PC
    $40 for TWO controllers
$400 for 20 games (very generous, not including steam, GOG, GMG sales or humble bundles)
    $0 for online fees
    Total: $990-1390
And the PC will continue to serve you for many years to come.
Higher resolution, higher texture quality, higher effects quality, better anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering, higher frame rates, higher FOV, a choice of either multiple monitors or TVs, shorter loading times, superior input devices, potentially unlimited storage space, no issues with backwards compatibility, VR (Oculus Rift, Virtuix Omni, Myo and Araig) on the horizon, emulation, no payments for online access, the ability to do your own upgrades and repairs, entire exclusive or near-exclusive genres, longer warranties, not tied to one online service because it is an open platform, a wider range of games, more games than every console combined, more mature online player base, cheaper games with regular sales and weekly Humble Bundles, loads of mods most of which are free, free fan made fixes and support for games even after publishers are gone, free abandonware......
Not to mention that a PC can also be used for surfing, communicating, working, creating, developing your own games, shopping, watching videos etc....

One of my biggest gripes with next gen consoles, or at least with PS4, is there's now no damn reason to buy a physical copy of a game anymore. Before, you could buy a physical copy and play it instantly, the only space it takes up being the Save Data with the option of buying a digital copy at the cost of it taking up more space. Now you still have to download the entire game, Physical or Digital copy. So if you have an interest in many games like me, you're going to be managing space a lot more between downloading games, and reserving space for later updates for your current games, especially since there's a lot of games that are absolute WHORES for space, Call of Duty Modern Warfare being the most infamous example taking up almost 150 fucking GB of space. With last generation, i only ever had to do a mass-deleting of games ONCE, in close to a decade of playing on the same Xbox 360, with probably around a hundred games on there, yet with the PS4 i have had to mass-delete several games dozens of time over around 4 years.
Oh, and if you have multiple accounts on the same console across multiple consoles, and you don't buy all of the games on the same account, you end up with having to deal with the bullshit of the owner of that game not being the owner of the console. To translate this confusing drivel, i'll give an example that's happened recently: I bought Bloodborne on my brothers' account, his account is on 1 console, in his room. We have 2 PS4s in separate rooms, and if i want to play Bloodborne, i'll have to either play on his console when he's not playing , or Log his account into my other Console and make his account the owner of that PS4 to gain access to the games bought on his account....and lock him out of practically any games he'd want to play in the process. So in order to get around this, you'd have to buy the same game across two consoles on 2 separate accounts just to be able to play it when you want.
I really hope consoles bring back the benefits of physical copies again, because my reasons for owning one dwindle more and more as time goes by. My main reasons for owning a console were its simplicity of popping the disk in and playing, and Local Multiplayer. Nowadays consoles are, at least on surface level, just as complicated as owning a PC, and Local Play, while being theoretically far more comfortable on a console than a PC, is basically a myth at this point because many games have multiplayer and CoOp as features, but almost NEVER think "hmm, it'd be nice to play this with my family and friends when we're all in the same house", so that reason is gone. Honestly the only reason i still play on PS4 anymore nowadays is because my dad hasn't gotten into PC gaming, so that basically sealed what we'll all be playing on. I plan on eventually Converting him and at some point so i don't have to deal with this bullshit anymore.

1:20 Exactly. When the Wii U was announced, I was excited: "Hooray! I can keep playing even if my family needs the TV to watch a soccer game" I thought to myself, but there weren't any actual games for it until the Wind Waker remake! To this day, I say the biggest mistake Nintendo made with the Wii U was announcing it before they actually had any games for it! The Will had Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as a launch title, so of course it sold well.

Here are the facts as i understand them.
1#. The Xbone and PS4 have very few exclusives worth the money.
2#. The good games avaible on those consoles are multiplatform, avaible on their previous versions and PC.
3# The WiiU have superiour exclusives and is cheaper to pick up.
4# The PC have almost every big name game, save for the exclusives.
Solution: Buy a WiiU for its exclusives and get a gaming PC for the multiplattform titles.

It honestly feels like, at this point, Nintendo is the only one who knows what they're doing, considering very few PS4 and XBOne games are exclusive, instead either being on PC, which a lot of people have, or PS3 and 360, which gives no reason to fucking upgrade. At least Nintendo's making games for the Wii U.

I'm getting a used PS4 to play Last Guardian, Horizon Zero Dawn, Wild, Scalebound, UFC and NHL and a few others (Xbox has no exclusives I'm interested in - Sucks because it's so much cheaper because no one wants one). Then I'm selling it.
And I wouldn't bother if I could play these on PC. But you can't and that's the point
There is usually very little you can't buy for PC or emulate. PC is not a master race. It's just not even in the same class as a console. There is no competition when you can modify or run a game better to your liking, whether you understand what vsync is or just know that you want to use a mod to change the color a little.
I would always choose a PC before any console so long as I have the money for it. And considering the cost of these consoles plus the fact that plenty of people buy xbox and PS and wii, you could easily get a good computer for that price.

    • @Fir7shadow
      @Fir7shadow Před 7 lety +1

Scalebound is an Xbox exclusive ..... And because of that, it is playable on a Windows 10 PC. And UFC and NHL games aren't exclusive to either console either. Only half of the games you listed are actually exclusive to the PS4.

      No dude.
They are dropping the ball left and right. For years, single player shooters advanced. Now that has stagnated. The campaign mode in shooters is now trash. The old games are better. Halo: Combat Evolved has better single player than BF4/CoD Ghosts/Etc. The AI in the new games is non-existant and levels are just linear set pieces. With each playthrough being identical to the last.
Japanese games are hung up on old style. Where they do pre-rendered cut scenes. Pre-rendered cut scenes and QTEs need to go the way of the dinosaur.
Hopefully gaming can bounce back. The single player shooter experience is what I been missing. Seriously play Halo 1 in Heroic by yourself and you will see the game is better. And there's hardly any "go toward this dot" radar shit. You actually have to explore the levels.
It's strange what games have become. But what you and I have to remember, is that there is a steady stream of young people just starting to play games. It's like the music industry, you can release trash as long as it has cheap thrills and high production value.

So why don't you turn your head over to indie games? Also, yes, there are a lot of lazy companies that try to get easy cash by making minecraft ripoffs, but try to ignore them

Regarding the PC vs console battle, there are many people who prefer owning laptops than Desktop PCs (for personal stuff) due to their lifestyle (students, techies) and these are the ones that buy consoles instead of buying a ridiculously expensive and not-mobile-in-any-way laptop. Moreover, you can carry your console around when you go home/gf's place during weekends.
The PC is well, a PC and therefore does EVERYTHING. And in this age, if you find it difficult to install/start a game in PC (as compared to console) you would rather play candy crush on your ipad.
The only win-win for both parties is when the console manufacturers introduce modular consoles (sort of like project ARA for phones) where you can upgrade components as easily as changing your laptop battery and as an added bonus provide the option of running your favorite OS when you are not playing your games.

The only issue with PC is that you have to have the ability to spend a good amount of money to build a decent rig, and you have to spend even more money to constantly update that rig. That's why we have consoles, for people who are serious about gaming but don't have enough money to afford a good PC.

    • @doommaster9235

XanrosSinsinger So far in MY OPINION the only "decent" console is the Wii U, it doesn't have much problems aside of out dated graphics, in wish i really don't care. But the controller options like using the classic Wii remote/nunchuck is amazing. Playing FPS games with these for example is amazing. Other than that i'm not interested on the Xbox One or the PS4 either.

    • @wnxdafriz

To understand this at most you may buy a new graphics card once every well 3-4 years now, if you want to upgrade your quad core processor ?? pretty much same thing or longer. Right now the hardware is upgrading faster than the software to use it although that is most likely due to the fact that most pc games nowadays are console ports.

(I never knew that until now) I was a console lover. I used to be offended by ps4 users in comments. I was In this huge war until I heard about this crap pc master race thing. I was now friendly with ps4 users, but I never bought a ps4. And I then hated pc. I was in this until I found someone in real life that was a pc master race guy. We argued until he wouldn't believe me and neither would I. Just then I realized... I was a lame person that hated on other people for the choice they had of which console they should buy.I then resolved the problems with him, and I became his friend. He then realized that he was one of those people too. Now we don't hate on consoles. Not even pc. If your reading this, I hope you become someone who enjoys their console of choice and stop hating. Even the poor could get to enjoy them down the line, when the next generation came along and the older consoles and games got cheap enough for the masses to enjoy through the second hand market. Gaming really was for all the people for every platform, everywhere, no one was left behind.
It was so simple. Get the machine, get the game, play the game.
    Aah, the good old days...
No online subscription fee (on top of what you're already paying for internet access), no subscriptions to play within just one particular game world, no "micro" transactions to get at another part of the game, no payments to reactivate a pre-owned game that you've paid for once already, no firmware updates (for a console?!?), no patch updates (for a console game?!?), no DRM, no further investment needed whatsoever.
Then the suits and evil corporations took over the whole market and milked it all to death, while duping those who still stayed faithful to the latest consoles out of religious devotion into thinking that the old ideals were still being adhered to, that everything is still as it was, while draining their bank accounts dry with their credit card details perpetually bouncing around their massive cloud servers, that always works when taking money is involved, but oddly stop working on a regular basis when you try to actually play a game, even after you've successfully navigated all their numerous terms and conditions.
This is why I now prefer PC, older computers and consoles prior to the 7th generation (apart from the original Wii, the last truly fun console, (plus a funny name that outside of Japan in the English speaking world, sounds like one half of Wee Wee!)). So I can continue to enjoy games, even on a low budget, while still being free of the evil console corporate overlords. PC and retro gaming is the way I've found to fight the power!
Perhaps if others took the same stance and joined the Rebel Alliance as I have, the meglomaniacal Imperial console corporations may yet be defeated.
    Until then, consoles are dead.
To paraphrase what someone on Star Wars once said, "The more they squeeze, the more systems slips through their fingers!"

I have to say this as a Sony fan: they did a great work with the PS4 when providing a great hardware that can withstand some heavy frame-rate bumfuck, and it's also good that all you have to do on the PS4 is just plug it in, play the game you want without wasting time, but the no backwards complatibility (yeah i misspelled it) is a really wrong fucking choice, therefore i am getting a PC along with a PS4 since the PS4 outclassed the PC by playing the game you want fast enough without having to sit 3 minutes through the PC loading every-fucking-thing and by that time you could have just plugged in a console and played the game already.

Honestly, anything that can play the games I want and that I can play with friends on is great for me (you can play local co-op on a PC; an Xbox, Playstation or Steam remote can hook up with it). Gaming on the go is fun too, Nintendo is the king of handhelds with the exception of the PSP/PS Vita, but why get those when you can get a full Playstation? A PSP is half the price for a third of the games. Would you rather pay for a single choclate, or get a buy-one-get-one-half-off at the mint truffle station?
Basically, one console or PC and one handheld should be enough. I’ve had so many consoles from so many companies that I just draw straws for which new console I get.

Ever since the NES vs Sega, I have been buying both consoles and enjoying the best of both worlds. That is, right up until this last generation of consoles (PS4 and Xbox One). In the gigantic time between last gen and new gen consoles, I ended up buying a new and improved pc and doing most of my gaming on that. I eagerly awaited buying the next gen consoles, but after seeing their shitty specs and their shitty exclusives I have to say that I have chosen to buy neither and just stay with my pc.
I'm not saying that pc is and always will beat consoles, but with the current next-gen consoles being so shit, pc will be the best gaming platform for at least as long as it takes for the consoles to get their shit together.

i personally am fucking done with the discussion of which one I should buy since neither have the games that I want unless we're talking multiplats which are on PC anyways and titanfall is a PC game as well, and the only next gen console I'm getting is the wii u, why? because it has good games that I actually want to play, but if I needed to choose which console I would get, it would be the PS4, i have had the worst experience ever with my xbox 360 and I have since then never wanted to buy anything but a nintendo console after that, nintendo consoles last the longest without hardware failures, you buy a nintendo console and that is guaranteed to last at the very least 5 years with no breakdowns or issues, and its the second reason why I'm only going for nintendo consoles this year, also as for the consoles vs PC argument, PC is superior and it always will be, in terms of everything from control, to power, to compatibility to being able to do other stuff besides gaming on it, the only thing that holds the argument on which is better is the games which are exclusive on consoles... but given the fact that only nintendo exclusives seem to be the best and only worthwhile games on the market, not to mention to MOST exclusives on the market, the PS4 and xbox one in terms of games pale in comparison to the games PC has, ofc thats subjective but from my perspective, the ps4 and xbox one wont be getting a purchase from me, until I see any worthwhile titles on them, and no halo is not one of them, i HATE playing first person shooters with an analog stick for camera movement, it just fucking sucks. although if I can praise one thing about the consoles, more specifically praise the PS4, its the dualshock 4, i use controllers with my PC all the time and the dualshock 4 is hands down the best controller I've ever used, its so responsive, the analog sticks have enough resistance but not too much, the analog sticks have barely any noticeable deadzone which leads to wickedly smooth control and the four face buttons have a smaller deadzone as well which means that you can mash the buttons even faster than before, I personally couldnt care about controller button layout, just so long the controller delivers on the control side of things so the analog sticks being symmetrical isnt that big of an issue for me, in fact after a while of playing with it they feel natural to me

Lets settle the console vs console or consoles vs pc war.
Ignoring the price tag, PC is much more superior to consoles(no contest, really..)
However, PC requires more intelligence to work more money to make and more effort to make work. Whereas consoles are good for the simple plug it in put the disc in and click the button there ya go you're playing a game. So really its up to YOU which you want more. A platform that is quite expensive and time consuming but overall a much better machine, or an overpriced(yet still cheaper than PC) machine thats good for simple enjoyment. That settles the Consoles vs. PC fight, now on to Console vs. Console.
The PS vs. xbox fight is pointless because no matter how squinty eyed you look at them each one will only ever be slightly superior/inferior to the other. The PS will never outclass the xbox majorly and vise versa. Hope this gets through to some people :P
Note : Oh sorry i almost forgot, *LOUD FART NOISES*

IRocaNox Warning : skip to the bottom if you dont care enough to read the novel i just wrote... >>Certainly requires more work and intelligence than shilling out a crisp 400 dollars and plugging it in like with consoles. Also i dont think you can get a 1080p 60fps PC for 400-500 dollars? And no PCs are not cheaper in the long run because in a year where the average console gamer buys like 4-7 games (240$-420$) (i only buy like 2-3 fyi) and 60$ for online, unless you're a total prude with your money chances are you are gonna be upgrading your PC alot in a year what with all the new technology thats released for computers. You can't exactly calculate as the amount spent is dependant on the person, but lets say 200 on the short end and 700 max(unlikely but there are some out there). average pc owner will spend upwards of 400 dollars a year on upgrading their pc, not to mention what they probably spend on games during steam sales(adds up). I think PCs will be more in the long run as well. That being said, its well worth it. I think even if you're a casual gamer if you are anything into graphics or just good old fun times, PCs are the way to go. I'd gladly spend a thousand dollars on a PC if it means i can play skyrim in crisp 1080p 60fps while running hilarious mods. Anyway, this is way too fucking long. -------------------------------------------------------------Basis of the story : I think PCs require more intelligence, effort, and money. But are worth it

All you need is a second keyboard, mouse, and display. You can turn your single PC into up to 6. SoftXPand is the only software I know of that can do this on Windows, however.
