    Do you know whether small yellow plums at the edge of a rent-apartment house cluste may be garden ones that have become wild from neglect? they are about 2 cm long and 1½cm "broad", tree not pruned, more bush-like with a few wild-grown "children".
    I'm thinking of pru ning it and clearing up around it, but what kind of norishment doesit want? Cow-compost? Juste lossened and weed-freed soil around itself, fetching nutrient itself? Soil looks pretty good, (but grows on a steep little slope.) l'll try to listen and take in your vidseo if I get enough sleep. Have no money.. :-)

    Have you found any particular bushes that the fruits stand out above the rest?

    • @fourseasonforaging
      @fourseasonforaging  Před 2 lety

      Yes, there can be lots of variation between different plants, even if they’re the same species. That’s why taste testing is an important part of foraging (assuming that it’s safe to eat raw, which plums are of course)

    Can you tell us when this will get ripe? I've been watching a few hog plum trees for a month or two and the fruit is still green and rock hard. Maybe they will ripen by September in Iowa?

      Are hog plum trees the same as wild plums? Around here in Minnesota they ripen mid to late August. It might be later down in Iowa

      Hi, yeah, there's a bunch around the Sabo bridge that goes over Hiawatha Avenue, north of 28th street. Just be aware of arsenic contamination in that area.
