You said it yourself though. The Raiders won the Super Bowl that year. If the QB play was really the major weakness, they should have then drafted Marino. They did draft a center the year before and then they took another one here (Mosebar). Rozelle almost did them a favor by blocking (allegedly) the Elway trade where they wanted to give away the store. They could have had Marino without giving up anything. Who knows what really happened? The only ones that seem to talk about it are bitter ex-Colts and ex-Raiders management that have an axe to grind. They were probably in the ears of Elway's people as well. I love NFL history and this was well done for the most part. Fun stuff to think about.
