The 3 beasts are the same 3 traitors in many ancient traditions. Eg. the 3 traitors of Jesus-Caiaphas, Judas and Pilate or the 3 traitors of Hiram Abiff in the Masonic legend-Sebal, Ortelut and Stokin or the furies of Greek mythology or the 3 Egyptian demons who killed Osiris or the 3 daughters of Mara who tempted the Buddha or the 3 traitors of Jacques de Molay in the Templar tradition- The Church, the State and the mob. These are symbols for the 3 traitors of the 3 centres we have in our body ie heart, head and hands or emotional, intellectual and motor instinctive/sexual. The first is the demon of desire, the second is the demon of the mind and the third is the demon of evil will. Dante was an initiate of these mysteries and knew the same teaching as all the others who created myths around it.
