Thank you for the in-depth explanation. I have recently been called to read James and have been hung up on James 2 for weeks. Wrestling with my own weakness, prejudices, and trying to figure out how to live instead. The fog is starting to lift. I will continue to pray for my mind to be transformed, as well as my heart.

When I heard you read chapter 2
This is why Gandhi never received Christ
Gandhi's words, Dr. Holmes said, "I believe in the teachings of Christ, but you on the other side of the world do not, I read the Bible faithfully and see little in Christendom that those who profess faith pretend to see.
"The Christians above all others are seeking after wealth. Their aim is to be rich at the expense of their neighbors. They come among aliens to exploit them for their own good and cheat them to do so. Their prosperity is far more essential to them than the life, liberty, and happiness of others.

I get extra napkins to use for toilet paper when I go to mcnasty's to eat the dollar menu but yet I still give 10% to my homeless brothers and sisters.. I can promise you majority of true Christians are not that way not claiming that I am I feel as though I'm backsliding all the time and must repent everyday.... I must also say the reason why is because I understand that Islam is a cult straight out of the pit as hell most people know this even more Muslims !

Who was picked to raise filfthy Lucre among the gentiles and, oh. if Paul returned and said "a rich man gave us two bars of Gold!!) Oh that disgusting rich man!! Go find that man, and give him the gold bars back////// YEAH RIGHT!!! James DOES DECLARE that works are needed for eternal life!! Come on!!! CANT YOU SEE THAT ONO IS SAVED BY FAITH AND WORKS????? Secondly the whole lesson of mark 7 is eating with unwashed hands. Matthew 15 better demonstrates this because Christ literally says it. Matthew 15 : 11 He puts forth a parable. repent is to change your life style, so if you sin frequently knowing what you are doing is wrong, then by repenting you are trying to not continue your bad habits.

James caused people to sin as they naturally favored him, as he was the half brother of Jesus, and whether he thought about it or not, he received favor due to the reality of his life. In worldly terms James had 'celebrity' status. In light of James' hatred of favoritism, to be consistent he should have recused himself of any important position, or "stayed on his holy knees" their deformity known by all of the people as he "prayed for the sins =of his people, although I thought his brother took care of that issue. . which others have speculated he got his anti-Christian moniker, "James the Just". It is amazing how many are afraid of saying a word against Jesus' brother! They say he taught as Christ did, which is NOT true, as James did not take Jesus' advice to hide the effects off prayer!! How odd, he was known not for secret more evidence he was FAVORED because his evidence of prayer . His Chapter two "of works needed to partner with faith" in order for a "final justification" well guess where billions of souls have been lost as the RCC uses HIS convoluted theology to support their works/faith model/which IS NOT THE GOSPEL!! This letter was one of the very last to slip in the Canon c.385 while Paul's core letters WERE NEVER NOT CONSIDERED "God Breathed": Everyone is afraid of this man, but those that reconcile (sic) James Chapter 2 and the documented Paul's 4th Chapter of Romans. Yes, I KNOW , that God promised that we would receive God breathed writings. These are called Scripture not necessarily THE BIBLE. I believe He warned and warned this book is not Scripture. But there it is, having caused 1700 years of anti Paul Works theology. Now as the head of the Jerusalem Church and operating the outdated Temple when there was NO REASON to separate Gentile and Jew . THe man with Gold ring seems to come in first, and there was no trace that HE disrespected the poor man, nor did the poor man complain . YOU KNOW WHY JAMES? If any reader were that poor man, would you WANT TO BE PLACED UP FRONT/ TO BE MADE AN EXAMPLE ON HOW NON PREJUDICED the ushers were? James is prejudiced about the rich, using absolut es/ they are all bad and poor are all good!!. you are falling into James' error of REVERSE discrimination!! which GOD says "When a poor man is in cort vs the rich man, DO NOT FAVOR THE POOR IF HE IS GUILTY- James knows nothing about nuances. ? YOU FAVOR JAMES!!

What a loony comment. Any other books in the Bible that aren’t really the Bible? Or is this the only one that God in his omnipotence couldn’t quite keep out. And you are reading this wrong if you think that it is saying “works plus faith equals salvation.” He is talking to saved people...the church. It is about whether their faith is living or dead. Faith should produce works or it is not a living faith. Devils have the kind of faith that knows who Jesus is. Think of it in terms of John 15...the branches and the True Vine (Jesus). If you abide in the Vine, your life will produce fruit naturally, because that’s what branches in a vineyard do. But if there is no fruit on your branch, then the sap (Holy spirit) isn’t flowing, you are not abiding in the vine, you do not have “life in Christ.” If you do have life in Christ, fruit will come. It’s inevitable. It’s a law of the spiritual and moral universe. You are totally missing the context of this whole letter if you think it is about works being part of the saving process. That would be like saying that a branch had to produce some grapes on its own before the vine would allow it to be grafted in. So since you seem to have missed the whole point entirely, you have to make up some crazy backstory about what a bad guy James was and how his book got “sneaked in” at the last minute but really shouldn’t have. I’m guessing you believe that God is “sovereign” so He sure didn’t do a very good job of keeping his main book free of error did He, for someone who is supposed to be meticulously micromanaging the universe?

@@wilsclanmom Well-argued. The Almighty God does not need man to okay His choices. Lets not bring Him down to our level. James is not inerior to any other book included in Scripture. The latter is for us as reborn children of God to praise, revere and thank Hin for how much He ads to our perception of who He is through the writings of this book. Every book in Scripture is supposed to be there, that is how i see it. We may question in order to gain further insight and wisdom but i would be loath to advise the Holy Spirit of God of His impulsively adding this book to the Bible. James has MUCH to say which we should rather approach with humble eagerness to increase information on the preceots of God and to gain WISDOM about the divine. I see nothing wrong with this book and as the American people so sagely put it, if it aint broken, dont fix it!
