That is spot on. So many people mess up the nose and its irritating
@@7maldine But you can have that feature on a barkshark or a sharkdog tho with squinted eyes. Thing is when you remove or alter significant features in an open species, you bring negative attention by falsely implying that that incorrect feature is canon. With a real species there is no confidence to debate anatomical features, however with a made up one, the only way to maintain that species as itself is by respecting that intended design and given features that make it it. If you don't regulate it, folks will change it to the point its not that recognizable and not really aligned with the species it was supposed to be. Not to mention that I personally find their noses incredibly unique and one of a kind. Its problematic to alter their eyes, ears, teeth, and their snoots. Its better you make something similar that isn't them and it be something else versus it not fitting the species rules and you trying to make something that really doesn't fit the list.... and I'm not mad at u btw, I just try to cover everything and talk a lot.

@@cloudytears8050 the hell with you people getting upset at others because they expressed appreciation for attention to detail and actually following the species ref well? I'm kinda don't like it when manokit suits with handmade head bases are made with a normal dog nose or it is done in a way that it doesn't fit or flow with the rest of the head, either the nose being too small or shaped poorly. Its just me noticing that people aren't doing it right when the only real means a species that's made up can be continuously be itself is by following the ref and not altering key features. I can get a lower skill level impeding the to a T mimicking of the species ref, that's understandable... But so many people when they make their own bases don't really follow the ref right, even when they have skill, and it happens often. I appreciate what makes them them and would prefer to see more suits of this beautiful species that doesn't make it look like its just a shark with squinted eyes or a normal barkshark, and still be trying to call it a manokit. I appreciate it even more here with this video because it's a tutorial for others to follow and can impact how people tackle this feature of this species when making suits. This feature being entirely unique and really defining to the species, should not be forgotten or not included. Its what makes their faces so different from shark fursonas, and barksharks, and you don't really see it on anything else, so forgetting this thing that nothing else has is weird.

10/10!! I used these techniques to make my first foam fur suit head base, which was a dragon, and it came out perfect! this was super helpful! I'm really excited to make my first ever fursuit, and these videos really help me get an idea of how to bring my character to life
Here’s a little tip that I’ve developed myself while watching this and creating it! Instead of carving the nose bump out on it, I’d make the overall muzzle smooth, then making a separate bump out that can be attached later on.

My fursona doesnt have a known species, but i saw the manokit snoot and i knew that his snoot had a similar shape. I'm sure this will help me when i start making him! Thank you so much Mugiwara! ❤️
what would you recommend a beginner to practice with when making a base for the first time?
@Silver yeah, in Canada we have foam king, and fabricland or Michaels. You can also get foam from amazon or others sites,
I got foam from Walmart :p but it still works just not as thick as the foam they used for the muzzle

I made an eastern dragon but the muzzle sucks. I also found out about mano kits and I love there big snout and happy eyes. I'm going to save up and this time, follow every step, and GET ALL the supplies I need. Thanks

Yes, I agree! My fursona is a Fjord horse. You can actually find PFD patterns on EBay, like I did. It comes with instructions, too!

I don’t really want to make my own foam base, but I want to be able to add the fur on myself, so do you sell foam bases without the fur?
She doesn’t sell those, I don’t think. But she does sell patterns you trace on the foam and all you have to do is stick the foam together. It’s on her Etsy shop, and it’s pretty cheap as well.

*i love the design on angel dragons and manokits (just discovered them from this video), I have actually created my own species back in 2k16 that I hope will one day be noticed by someone ;-; I don't really post a lot on CZcams about it but I'm on a app called FrameCast, my user is @Echoraptor (hints the name of my species lol) and I'm much more active on there and I explained my species a little on there, but anyways your a amazing fursuit maker and I hope to one day be as good as you- your a huge inspiration for a lot of people and I appreciate you uploading these tutorials
