Steve Vai is on point when it comes to musicians insecurities and egos, those egos cover up their insecurities because some people have the power to create and others don't,a lot of the 80$ scene suffered because of the egos, now we got another chance to redeem ourselves and do it right.its all up to you

Steve Vai's theory of everystring. I'm digging it! Once the water of creativity finds a crack in the dam, it persists. Someone like Steve is, by now, an open valley the water inevitably rushes through. It's a wonder he can do anything but record 24/7!

In all honesty as a teacher I see talent everyday, I see people who have a natural affinity with their instrument and it's evident to me when I see a student playing whether or not they have natural ability and understanding.
I also see what happens when those people don't practice enough or expect to be able to fall back on talent.
They eventually get surpassed by the student that didn't have that natural ability but put in an hour more each day.
Hard work and focused practice will always beat neglected talent in the long run.

It's definitely a sexy interview but there's an implied point here - he's basically saying, "Make the leap from doubt to going for it." He seems to be taking the risk that this babe will reject him but he's going for it anyway. That metaphor can be related to your musical creativity (which is sex-related) and the babe being the world or your projection of it. In essence, the difference between doing it and not doing it is just making a leap of faith and just. start. doing it.

Im gonna tell you how to unlock the full potential of creativity but some of you may not like the answer.
You have to realize that your imagination is the source of creativity, the same way people imagine, invent and it becomes tangible in reality all from an imaginary thought. So you must conclude since infinity is found in math, music, science etc etc then it supports fully the existence of God and that we are simply here because God imagined all of this and made it tangible for a foundation to build upon, and we do this all the time. We literally reside within the imagination of God. This understanding leads to you knowing there is no limitation to your imagination and creates the hole he is talking about.
While this is philosophical in nature there is still enough physical proof to conclude this as to explain why infinity exists you are forced to acknowledge the existence of God. It cannot be explained any other way. the physical proof of God's existence if you need to know is with the understanding the role light plays in existence itself. If light doesn't exist then nothing can, our universe supporting photons is what makes light possible. If it didn't support them then you could not observe the passing of time, alternately if time did not exist then light could not travel as it requires forward motion of time to happen, so both directly depend upon each other to exist. This is a thought experiment and you will be at it until the end of time trying to conclude why it all happens this way but forces you to realize that measuring God with tools created in his consciousness is impossible as the consciousness is too huge to measure and is the reason why we know infinity exists but it can never be measured.
So there is the hole to unlock your full potential and is the literal meaning of being open minded.

    Very interesting talk!
If I may give a little piece of advice.
I personally think it would be more interesting to have a more active discussion.
Now it's almost like a monologue. I think it's nicer to get involved in it and ask a few more questions, or put more arguments out so the person (Steve Vai in this example) has to really think about his explanations a little more.
Also more interesting for the audience maybe.
    Just my 2 cents,
    Cheers!

Now that everything's connected and Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein have awoken everyone, this conversation should seem like an argument for universal basic income. In other words, in order to become, it needs nurture first. Whereas capitalism is backwards and nurtures the already's and sanctions the unactualized. Creativity and the wonderful aspects of a person aren't consciously created, they are unconsciously allowed. Consciousness is actually a poisonous obstruction in every aspect, with exception of sheer allowing you to exist. All the other things it can do are basically to be suppressed.

Mastering an instrument includes all the philosophies Steve talks about. One thing that isn't mentioned is genetics. Creativity and mind to hand coordination is based on your DNA. My neighbor came over and wanted me to hear his new blues lick. He said he had been playing guitar for 6 years. Well, he couldn't even play a single, clean chord in the first position, yet he rocked out as if he was the man. From the words of that famous philosopher, Dirty Harry, "A man's got to know his limitations". Craigslist is full of dopey people who think they got it when they don't. You can see the same people auditioning for American Idol getting chewed up and spit out by the judges and they are in complete shock to hear how horrible they are.
