I would not advise waiting to progress for a couple of reasons.
1. After you beat the story, you get access to refining parts that are needed for g6 and up.
2. The six stars do not show up as often as one may think after beating rathalos. There were more four stars than anything.
3. It is better to shoot for a chance at getting a rare 5 you may need later than settling for a rare 4 you need now. While chasing the rare 5, you will inevitably get the sub rares
This 100%. Especially the last point, those rarity 5 materials are just soooo rare so you may as well also give yourself a chance at getting those too. And yeah those refining parts seem to only be available from daily quests which you need to always do anyway, so may as well get started early toward your end game gear.
Currently waiting on one more r5 drop for my pukei bow to overgrade to grade 6 and just leveling up all my elemental bows in the meantime… it makes the 6 star hunts way easier when you have the right elemental weapon lined up
Just something to keep in mind, there's sources that say that poison is applied equally by all weapons, as the poison buildup scales with the motion values of the weapon. That still means a multi-hit weapon like the bow is more consistent but in theory all pukei weapons of the same level should poison the monster at the same rate.
I'm constantly hunting the small monsters just to help fill my ultimate attack.
Same, they work as cannon fodder before going into a big fight
Take a look at your bag. You will be dropping their dros at late game. Do it when it is a daily quest.
To refill your Ulti you can just to do a safe run in the current boss quest you are stucked and refill faster.
I think it is better to finish the story at least once mainly because you unlock the ability to farm for Weapon/Armor Refining Parts, which is part of your DQ (Daily Quest) and you only get one of each per day.
For the uninitiated, you need this to Overgrade your weapons and armors past G6 and above. If you don't progress your story, then you're essentially locking yourself out of equipment progression, and later upgrades require you to have 3 or more of them, which equates to 3 days worth of waiting up to a week.
My only regret was not farming enough tobi-kadachi early in the game.
Rarity 2 and Rarity 3 are hard to get now.

me too..i get my fire, water and ice weap to grade 5-6 but the thunder one still stuck on grade 3, and kadachi drop is bad (at least for me, too unlucky with the pelt drop which is u need a lot for upgrade and tier up)

Money is an issue in this game later on, so please don’t waste your zenny making poison and paralysis weapons. You’ll regret it. Elemental weapons are necessary to be able to beat the high star monsters.

Same as op, realized the future situation and dumping status build altogether. I saw even the veterans youtubers who played from beta stage struggle so hard at higher stars (8 and above) with status / raw build, they cannot beat monster that is same grade-star rating anymore, they have to over level their weapon just to be able to stand a chance against monster that is star rating one below their weapon grade. If your status build cannot stand a chance against 10 stars using your fully maxed grade 10-5 weapon, you will finally regret your choice for not listening to op. Oh yeah, other than rare monster species, there are also elder dragon in the future. Can your deeps clear them at 75 seconds?
Yeah I kinda quit because of this. My girros SNS is upgraded to a point that requires gem shard which only drops from 8* monsters but i cannot even kill even an 8* great jagras using this SNS. Spent all my money and mats on this paralysis build. I will not play again until they lower the difficulty of the high * monsters.
I’ve been upgrading the Kulu bow to the moon and I’ve been impressed with its potential damage output (key word potential). It easily got me past the first story play though and is a constant go to. I’ve found piercing shot to be the key element with the affinity perk. However, It does feel like I’m hitting the monster with a foam dart if I’m not targeting weak spots… but overall it’s been a pretty solid weapon.
pierce is 7 hits too. Learn the sidestep and wait for level 4. It's done me very well
I work as a drivers mate delivering good long distances, and because of the speed lock, i feel like i lose out on so much because im always travelling over 10mph even then i use raw dmg and it hold up well but not too perfect. 😂
I'm a bit half and half on how I feel about my progression. On one hand, I did feel like I might have gone too fast, but the other kind of tells me that I needed to get to the higher stars to get to the monsters I need to get to in order to do some actual damage. Still, I can't complain too much overall. At this point, it is mainly trying my best to try and find not just the monsters I need, but to do it in such a way where I don't immediately burn through potions and feel like I'm losing progress because I'm not going out for enough walks.
I know there's no rush to this game, but I do want to get into a favorable position before they decide to add more monsters to the game.
I agree with that One tip that everyone should follow don't progress the story too fast. You'll end up struggling to get certain monster parts and zenny. I stop progressing the story again when time wasn't on my side anymore.
Now I got a weapon powerful enough to beat 4 stars monster in less than 10.
seconds. Plus getting rarity 4 materials is now frequent.
I think I missed the part where he said permanently stay at a point before finishing the story since what I got from the video was to farm at a point to stockpile some parts you'll need later and then progress the story to the next stage when ready due to the drop odds, rinse and repeat until you finish the story
Some people are saying stuff like how you'd be locking yourself out of certain things... when you'd progress to those certain things anyway since that's kinda why you're farming in the first place? It doesn't really make sense
Forget the crit kulu gloves, I think Tobi Kadachi Vamp gloves are much better ;-)

OMG!!! That helped so much, I was stuck at a grade 2 with my weapons cause I couldn't get monster bone +. But the minute i built the pukei pukei hammer I was able to instantly get it to grade 4. Enemies I were struggling with and had to spend a potion to beat before I just blitz through now.

My main problem now is my location and network which keeps dropping and going completely down during hunts...
Im glad for the drop rate info, but sad that i progressed like i did. I definitely didnt want to unlock 5*, but wanted the Rathian parts, so it took me by surprise. Thankfully the previous armor video has allowed me to focus on what i needed and im just grinding out parts for now; it did make the 5* Paolumu easier.
The progression i've been doing is similar but as someone else pointed, not finishing the story locks you out of key components for later upgrading that are better to just stockpile on early and the monster levels for 6 and higher aren't that much greater.
The best thing ive observed is hunting Pukei Pukei, Tobi Kadachi and Jagras non stop. Pueki gives you poison thats good against tobi and jagras. Tobi gives you thunder which is good for rathalos, rathian and pukei. Jagras gives you water which is good against everything else. Gives you a solid baseline of three weapons and monsters to hunt. The armor, Kulu helm, a couple of paolumu pieces, and rathian rathalos to fill in for either more defensive options, or just pure damage options based on the weapons armor counterpart to help. (Ie my sets have all the same helm and waist but different legs to boost the damage type associated with the weapon)
Look, here's the real trick to this game...if a monster is weak to a certain element and you can't beat it with your other stuff, you gotta just bite the bullet and get that element. Farming Diablos was an absolute nightmare for me until I unlocked the ice bow...now I don't even have to break my stride when walking around town fighting one.
Is anyone else finding that thunder element is their weakest, and every monster I seem to find has weakness to thunder
I haven't been able to progress that much..... granted I don't leave my house while playing a game that is designed to make you travel but still
Even if you travel, the speed limit restrictions really limits your game experience unless you're just walking outside or ride bike slowly
@M0nk3yD33 I mean, you shouldn't be playing while driving. If you find something you want to hunt, go park and walk to it.
The reason i spoofed in this game is because going outside for hunting are really annoying when my phone can cook eggs and starting to lags much.

I just walk everywhere, I will in a pretty hilly area of the city..it's just about the mentality. I also work and go to school, so I just walk to work and back for example.
I am happy I been holding off beating Rathalos over 2 weeks now. Grinding for elemental is in too much. Especially Anjanath rarity 2 parts which unfortunately he has only 4-5 stars. Been wondering to just sticking to one build. My paralysis build is practically done and is my favorite build.
Pzn rocks especially when you watch it do its work. The only problem is it won't kill... will leave 1hp. That has got me a few times.

Not advancing in the story is just bad advice. The dailies start giving necessary refining materials that you can ONLY get from the dailies.
Dailies don’t really count as the story I would say, plus he mainly meant the section between 5 and 6 star.
I almost exclusively use my pukie pukie sns. I like its higher raw damage over having the increased poison buildup and less raw of rathian. Once you poison a monster the extra poison doesnt do as much as the higher raw would from pukie sns vs rathian sns

Its a bad tip to lock 2 stars monster. Is just better go to 4 fast. In 4 you start to get rank 4 itens that is what will stop you to do itens, rank 3 and 2 itens is really easy to farm never stop your progression because of that. And like this list have a huge marge of error, is done by people counting the drop. Is the same i flip the coin 100 times and said is 55% chance heads. 10% of error in this marge just because a little bit more heads for me. And that being generous. And high star monster give more gold that is very important too. So just go fast to 4* the jump to 5* can be a little high so farm 4* when you can just go to 5*. Unless you are doing really bad in the game you try to wait to get the times
I directly disagree with your assessment that there are no pukei armor parts worth using mats on, the chest and helm have 1 focus each and are mandatory for greatsword. Also wasting zenny and mats making status when you could be progressing element is a little silly because of how limiting zenny becomes. I've been keeping my element greatswords as maxed as I can and I've loved every second of it. 5 focus and an element greataword makes for easy hunts
This is also the 2 best pieces for Bow until rathalos and even after…😂
The only reason to use poison / diablos raw weapons is to rush through star progression. But rushing star progression is pointless, since we inevitably need to build element weapons in the end just to even stand a chance against elder dragon.
@user-bv3ok2re3s I think Diablos is good for a long time. Just don't build only that and don't upgrade it too much.
Just hit HR69. I'm at playthrough 4 > 8 Star Monsters...only used Poison SnS to kill those 1437 monsters before 😅😅😅 just started buildin my 2nd Weapon 😂
I’d have to test the weapon stats in this game but I can say status seems to be equal value across weapons and element as well seems to carry the same weight which is different from the main line.
Bro as soon as i got the bow unlock I made the pukei bow and it has carried me all the way to 6 star and now to purple one star as long as I upgrade it. I killed ALL monsters with it. It's still my go too even now, of course I use the other elemental bows now on specific monsters to kill them faster but most of the time i use the pukei bow as my main.
I just want to share some info. You can roll/dash through the big roars. Every video i see no one does lol

It's not like after you reach a new star level that they are all that spawn. If you are looking for lvl 4 material then I would argue that it is good to unlock 6 star monsters because you will mostly have 4, 5, and 6 star monsters showing up. Sure the highest monster that can spawn is harder and less likely to give those materials, but I find that I have 4 and 5 star monsters spawning the most.
Here's a tip if you are having trouble with either wide and or large monsters (Diablos, Anjanath, Legiana ect.) you can zoom the camera out and see what attack is gonna do and where it's coming from.

My Girros hammer has been completely reliable. You don't really need to build tons of elemental weapons early on. The one proc of paralysis lets you wail on monsters giving you time to build up more CC like stuns, flinches, and part breaks, which give you even more opportunities to deal damage. I have level 2 slugger and level 2 partbreaker for this reason 😂😂😂😂
I think as a general rule of thumb, you'll be able to do just enough damage if your weapon is one grade lower (but max level) than the monster's stars, e.g. a grade 5/level 5 weapon can kill a 6* monster with quite a bit of room for errors.
Yeah, I noticed that last bit when doing the 5* Diablos quest. Even though paralysis is "effective" against him, I just couldn't do enough damage with the grade 3 max lvl hammer to finish the hunt without nigh perfect gameplay. I ended up having to use a non-effective elemental weapon because it did 25% more damage baseline because it was grade 4 max lvl, and I was able to finally finish it.

@@MrHaplovan I've changed my gear since this comment. I now use Kulu head for lock on, Jagras chest for rising tide, Paolumu arms and waist for divine blessing and concentration, and diablos legs for slugger. I realized partbreaker isn't that strong so the 1 level from the diablos legs is just a bonus.
Biggest issue. Carpenter bugs and the Blue rare bones. 30 C bugs for one upgrade takes longer than a week to obtain. One week per upgrade is too slow.
Yikes on that Pink Rath battle with the hammer. Need to spend some more time learning to bonk :)
6star monsters are not terrible because true endgame is 8stars to the current max of 10star. Any raw or elemental weakness G5 can farm 6star monsters.
They NEED to make the hunts last longer 60 seconds is just not enough time even when you have the right lvled weapon the amount of times ive come down to under a second for the kill is ridiculous

@@wenwentekkenMaybe grade 10-5 fully maxed girrow weapon can beat 9 star. For us element gang, we can kill 9 star using grade 9, if not grade 8 element weapon. Everyone who listened to the status weapon preaching will regret in the end when they can't beat 10 star, not to mention future elder dragon.
Until I made a set for every element, I slayed everything at least once with Pukey Bow (Last Urgent I finished with it was Diablos), so my main was Poison and my Casual set (When in a moving car) is Great Girros SnS, both are awesome!

What is the consensus on Pukie Bow VS Rathian Bow? i've been leveling Rathian, but looking at damage, Pukie does more raw. And if Poison only applies once per hunt, would i be better off with just better Raw?
Ugh, you just reminded me night shade Paolumu will exist and getting put to sleep with this tiny timer will actually be a one hit quest fail.
i was wondering when someone was gonna notice how strong the pukei poison weapons were, i been maining the pukei SnS since i made it lol, only use the legiana ice one for diablos to make him easier but not needed, so as such im on chapter 11 of the 2nd time through and can kill all 6 stars reliably so i have a fully maxed pukei SnS, just need another plate and i could make it grade 7 already, and multiple maxed out grade 6 armors all with offensive damage skills, no matter the monster, its dying lol
Good thing I don't ignore those small monsters, I also use them to charge up my special attack
Shield bash of the SnS REALLY needs a stun damage buff. As far as I can tell, with its current output, it is impossible to get a stun using SnS as a single player, so the only effect the shield bash DOES have is deny you of cutting damage, meaning you need to interrupt your combo when trying to cut the tail by rolling to stick to your first few attacks.
What benefit does cutting the tail give you? As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to increase the chance of 'tail' parts Break head first, then something to the side. So much easier
@@sloughwitch It's an extra part you can break, usually easier than other parts in my experience. for example, when I fight Anjanath, I break one leg > knock down > attack tail > break other leg > knock down > cut tail, then he dies with 3 part breaks. However, if I attack his head first, break head + one leg, he dies with only 2 part breaks. Of course Partbreaker probably overrides this point, but I don't use it.

Let me just say that I've beaten a 6* Great Girros with a G4.2 Anjanath Fire Bow, which benefits nothing from the extra Fire Attack. Which my point is you've played your fight against that 6* Great Girros almost perfectly with that many Perfect Dodges.
Status weapons or raw weapons can still beat the game yeah, but I don't think it makes it an "Easy Game". I struggled getting Legiana mats and had to settle beating Urgent Quest Diablos with a G4 Kulu Hammer after multiple attempts to perfectly time everything, while my friend who got his Ice LBG in just 1 Legiana Hunt, "breezed" through Diablos in his first attempt.
Main bow focus 5, tobi and anja bow g6, but my jyutarudos bow stuck on 4/2, drop rate and spawn for that monster i hate it, even after unlock 7* monster 😅
Percaya ga percaya bang. Saya main sdh HR80.. Bow saya semua elemen sudah grade 7. Cuma bow water yg nyangkut di grade 5.. Bayangin udh ngalahin 170 lebih jyuratodus, cm pernah dpt primeshell nya 1x dr awal main smp skrg. Pdhl yg di kill jg udh *7 *8 jyura.. Bikin emosi memang drop rate nya jyuratodus.. Spawn nya jarang pulak. 😰

Same, my jyura sns hard stuck at g4-2 while my other element weapon all over g5, my jagras sns and tobi sns is already at g5-5. Jyura spawn rate need a boost since it only exist in swamp region.

Whelp seeing the drop chances sucks quite a bit...Max drop rate i can farm for nosebones is 6%...Im lucky if i can get 2 anja a day atm...and ive only seen 5star ones 3 times so far.
I take it part breaks just roll from the normal pool? since consistant breaks havnt been netting specific parts. the amount of times claws have dropped when I sever the tail is kinda nuts.

Does status damage work like element? If I have 200 raw + 200 poison would that be 400 total damage or 200 total damage?

Took me forever🤔did I say forever to get grade 6 paralyze sns ..then forever for grade 7 😱only to find out..I can’t go to grade 8 due to cap lock the parts for it upgrade from 8⭐️..so yeah paralyze wep is a pain to farm..and get cap grade7 till you are able to start 8⭐️ farming..making 7 ⭐️ a pain in the quest 🤡

He means the monsters like Great Girros, Great Jagras, Paomulu, etc. that usually look smaller or weaker compared to late game monsters

The problems with games like this and anyone who boosts them is that capcom will think that this is okay to do more of. (i really wish people wouldnt support this kind of stuff)
Mobile games are low effort cashgrabs and capcom will spend more time doing this (cos they want money i mean just look at all the meh resident evil remakes and street fighters that hasnt really changed since street figther 4) than doing the things that people actually want like a proper breath of fire/onimusha sequel or another pc/console grade monster hunter.

Honestly just do what you want and enjoy the journey. It is supposed to be a game that you spend a lot of time on and grind. If you want to min max you can. But just do whatever lets you not purchase potions.

@@0cidd0 I love your hopefulness but it isn't happening. At it's current state the game isn't going to see a massive spike in popularity and if if does it'll drop quickly due to grind.
Also, the things you can purchase for money doesn't help your progression in game. Why waste a new monster on a mobile game majority of people won't play and get bored/aggravated with if they do in a very short time?
i actually noticed the difference in status weapons some days ago. i used a status girros GS with 175 atk + 125 para and a 170 atk Barroth GS to compare. they are both level 2 weapons (+ 4/5 for girro and 2/5 for barroth) but the dmg difference is big! Girro GS tackle does 132 dmg to trashmobs and barroth GS tackle only 75 dmg.
for a normal uncharged strike it is: 204 vs 114 dmg.
are raw weapons just crap?
