Was introduced to Vaughn Benjamin works as both Midnight and Akae Beka their "Word Sound and Power" by a Rastaman who is my friend and neighbour on my street, used to string up my sound in his Mother's back yard for celebrations and he would always say you must listen to his poetry as it transcends the concept of the usual format of formulaic reggae lyrics - bringing back a far older tradition of oral history from the Ancestors ❤ - as a group of friends we travelled to Brixton london venue to hear him perform - was a great privilege to hear his Word Sound & Power for little known to me and my Bredrens this was the last time 😢

I came to know about Vaughn Benjamin at the 2019 Afrikin conference were he was the honouree,Ras Elijah Tafari spoke beautifully and ever since I've been listening to him and the midnite band..it's so sad he left this world too early..

I met his manager ' Madeline' over 30 years ago ,..I was supposed to give them a gig at a club in the village .. I cancelled them .. I met Vaughn at a later date ..
I always ( regret ) cancelling
