    At times it's hard to dig through the garbage to find that ember inside you. Once you find it, bring the flame back and be sure to protect it from the flatulence of life. You're well on your Keith. I think you have a really good grasp on bringing yourself back to a healthy and happier you. Keep that focus!

    Two quotes make I think best describes you;
    “Somewhere in your life, there’s going to be a point where you have a decision to make. You’re going to have to choose between taking the easy route and the hard route. A lot of people take the easy route and they have a good life that way. But, the better life was by taking the hard route. You may have 20 years of pain and suffering to try and get past it, but a lot of us die before truly starting our journey.” - David Goggins
    And;
    Most of this generation quits the second they get talked to. It’s so easy to be great nowadays because most people are just weak, If you have any mental toughness, any fraction of self-discipline - the ability to not want to do it, but still do it - you’ll be successful. In a world of mediocrity, be uncommon amongst uncommon people. ” David Goggins
    It's not a race, but a marathon. You've gone over all the hard steep hills, rolled your ankles, tripped, but you kept getting up and kept moving. Now you're in the last leg, just one more hill then it's all smooth sailing from there. You've got this, welcome to being uncommon brother.

      Elliot Hirsch Thanks Elliot! Right now the workout is only the 6 mile walks. I do them everyday. The time of the day varies. Sometimes I’ll walk an extra two miles helping a friend who has been trying to get back into the swing of things. Thank you for the question and for watching.

      @@KeithHoltupthepeak I would not say "only" when referring to a 6-mile walk :-) Is there a reason you haven't transitioned to a higher impact activity that would burn the same calories but compress the time a bit? I'm assuming the walk is around 2 hours or so? Just asking so I can reflect on your experience.

    • @KeithHoltupthepeak

      Elliot Hirsch I knock out the walks in under 90 minutes. It’s more than just exercise, it’s meditation. I reflect on various things in my life. I’m waiting to get lower with the weight because of my bad knee to get back to jogging. When I was attempting the jog (when I was over 300 pounds) I was able to go 3 miles, but it wasn’t doing my knee any favors. So when the impact is lighter I plan on doing that, which will shorten the time greatly. There is some other things I need to work in and get back too. I have planned on getting back into the DDP Yoga and now that the testosterone is working back into my system my energy levels are increasing I could be getting back into that in the next week. So I’ll be walking and doing that and there is something else I maybe working in soon too, the weather will play a big factor in that. I have to say, the fact that I’m even writing about this now makes me feel really excited about the future, two years ago this all seemed like a dream and now it’s a reality. Never underestimate your ability to make a comeback in life. Thank you for the question.

    I have Hashimoto's which is low Thyroid, Low Vitamin D, But my body makes too much Testosterone for a Woman. So i take a ton of stuff for my hormones. Hormones suck! You say seeing this through to the end...There is no end for us. Being Calorie Usage deficient ( i just made that up) , I don't think there's ever an end for us. We're going to have to constantly work and strive and deprive ourselves to accomplish our health and wellness goals. it's a never ending story...I hope that thought doesn't set you back or depress you, I hope it helps propel you forward. Our mindset is our downfall. Especially when we believe the lies other people tell us. But knowledge can also be a stepping stone and sometimes it's a nudge that we need to put an end to our self defeating behaviors. This going to be our constant battle, otherwise we'll just be a yo yo in a lift.

      Izwan Kamarul I work in a lot of lean protein like grilled chicken and lean ground beef. I eat plenty of vegetables. I’ll eat eggs, potatoes and even work in snacks like granola bars. I play around in the kitchen to find different combinations of food to try and work in some variety. But I always keep it simple. Hope that helps.

    How many miles or hours did you walk in the beginning of your walking journey?
