  • In today's video, we take a close look at the 2016 Hyundai i10 Premium SE, the top trim level of it's time. Whilst this car is not the newest version of the i10, it's still one of the most affordable and best looking of the bunch! Especially in the soft blue paint option!

Nice video. Been considering this i10 model. Whats your verdict on the auto transmission?

Thanks very much! And from my experience it’s a smooth gearbox and definitely one that isn’t jerky in the lower speeds. Which is great when doing slow urban driving.

Great review. What do you think of motorway trips with this car? Especially long journeys because you highlighted how it’s good for short trips

Thanks, having not done long trips in this car I can’t say from experience. But seeing as it’s got really good fuel efficiency and lots of creature comforts, it should definitely make motorway journeys easy and comfortable 😁

I have 2015 Blackline Edition with a 1.0 liter. I travel to work on the motorway a lot, and it handles really good from my experience. As expected from a small car, there is some road noice. But I can live with that.

I've had 2 i10s; a "Go!" special edition and my current N-Line. They're fine on the motorway. The regular 67hp i10 is obviously not a fast car and overtaking can be a bit of a challenge at times, while the N-Line's stiffer suspension can be uncomfortably firm when new, but they both cruise absolutely fine all day long with mileage of >50mpg in top gear. Both had cruise control, which helps a lot, and Android Auto integration also helps with the voice command system.

Thanks, (The Car Yard) for your review. ... I bought a low mileage used 2018 Hyundai I10 Premuim SE Auto about one and a half years ago. I thought the overall spec fine without being too 'OTT' and decent sound proofing plus that the doors close with a nice 'clunk' like some more high end cars. Gearbox is smooth, the car quick enough for me, (usually just me or my wife when inside) and cruises comfortably on the motorway. .... In fact, the lady I bought it from purchased the newer 2020 model which has a different autobox and prefers her old 2018 one! My one minor criticism is that I feel the brakes at slow speeds can sometimes appear a bit 'grabby'. Overall, I'm really happy with it. And yes, the electric slide/tilt sunroof is a nice feature.

No problem, glad you liked the review! Very happy for you that you’re enjoying this car, and yes this car is definitely a premium feeling “supermini” that’s for sure.
I haven’t been in the newest i10 model yet but that’s interesting to know. If I ever review one on here then I’ll be sure to take note of that gearbox! 😆

No cruise control or Android Auto/Carplay integration though. With the N-Line spec you also get active lane-keeping, automatic headlights, a rear view camera, collision mitigation and 100HP. I'd much rather have all those than climate control and an auto gearbox - especially in a 1.2l engine. The N-Line spec still gets 50-60mpg too.

That’s true if you want all the bells and whistles. But also, not everyone would want a sportier looking i10 which is what the N line essentially is. Depends on what the customer wants in the end, and the i10 N lines audience is narrower than the premium SE model.

Yes endeed, you get about 43 mpg in City, and 54 mpg in the long run, but it definitelly looks better, since the model that he ' s presenting is the make 2, and the N - Line comes from the make 3, that beeing even a tad bigger.

    Isn't it outdated?

Not really, considering most people in UK don't have brand new cars and if they do have a used car, they keep them for quite a few years also. Yes it's not the latest generation of i10, however, in my opinion...it's one of the best i10's for all round use.
