    This car was way ahead of it's time....and nobody had one...like a unicorn

    One of the most beautiful cars from this era.

      Yes, this car was really ahead of its time in terms of design 😊

      It was certainly advanced for its time, but in appearance to me it just looks like a larger 626, which looks about as bland as a car can get

      I liked them, it was a less costly option compared to a Lexus, but the latter, it turned out, lasts at least 20 years longer.
      I still see mid 90s 400s and 300s on the road here in the southwest USA, sans the rust.

    I never understood why solar fans in the sunroof didn;t catch on. I lived in Arizona. I had a cheap solar fan that I would place ontop of a closed window. But I had to remove it when I started driving each time.

    Almost bought a 1995 back in 2000, but I opted for a 1995 Millenia. Bought the latter because I used to live in an area with harsh winters.

      Probably a good idea to get fwd. Did you have a S model or base?

    • @manfredmann2766
      @manfredmann2766 Před rokem +2

      @@jay.fromthebay Bought the base back then, although less exciting, I was a little concerned about potential repairs associated with the supercharger.
      Great car and drove it for 4 years with no problems other than body rust. Interior was comfortable on long trips and was comparable with other entry level luxury cars in its day. It was had a red wine color exterior with the gold colored emblem and sunroof.

    Nice car. I'm stumped & disappointed that the solar charging/fan sunroof didn't catch on with the industry.

    Mazda used a Jacto automatic transmission in the 929 and MPV. That transmission likes to fail. Mazda should had used a reliable Aisin Warner transmission.

    Another couple of 'Misses': no adjustable steering wheel or a glove compartment. Otherwise, a decent and stylish vehicle.

    I always thought these cars are beautiful even as a kid, it's sad that Mazda didn't stick to the luxury route they were going, if they had made a second brand the way Toyota/Lexus and Acura/Honda did They could've came into the luxury sport market and killed the game .. You would've had the Reliability of Japan, and some driving dynamics that could've held up to the Europeans over time

  • @leod3963
    @leod3963 Před rokem +1

    This car deserved at least a 3.4l 24 valve engine. I'm sure the weak fragile 929 transmission will not handle the power.

    • @hoklo6571
      @hoklo6571 Před 7 měsíci

      @@hoklo6571 jatco sent a weak unit to mazda. 929 Mpv b2600i all of them suffered from transmission failures specially in the V6. Jatco sent the good strong units to Nissan weak bad design to Mazda. Valve bodies are different in a Mazda compared to a Nissan transmission.

    0-60 time is not impresive
    But we changed to a light flywheel/clutch
    Sports cat. Exhaust manifold.intake manifold. K&N filter. Shaved the airfilter box.removed the resonator pipe/box
    Lightweight 17" wheels
    Haankook s1evo2 tires
    Custommade Lightweight Hood. Stripped it for some deadsounding
    Lowered
    Evrything in the trunk is removed
    Catback sports exhaust
    Smaller battery
    We got a 0-60 in 7.8 😁

    Infiniti/Nissan called; they want their J30/Leopard J Ferie back...
    Seriously, I knew a girl that had one of these 929s right out of high school. It probably would have kept going, too, had she not wrecked it.

      Dumb, considering that car was designed AFTER this and came out 1 year later. This was launched in 1991 and J30 in April 1992.

      lmaoo well I can say the 625 was a great car. My mom had a 2002 model in it's final year and it was one of the higher trims it even survive someone putting sugar in the tank... however it didn't survive a Toyota Camry doing a U-turn while she was coming down the road... rip
